Seeing Lynn Lin refuse him, Prince Adrian Wood grew a little displeased and said, "Lynn Lin, that's not right of you."
"Prince Adrian Wood, we're not married yet. Don't act so intimate. I agreed to come here today just to talk things over. Before the wedding, stop inviting me and don't trouble me anymore," Lynn Lin said.
Her words were blunt, leaving Prince Adrian Wood at a loss. Master Quentin Green, however, erupted, "How dare you speak to Prince Adrian Wood like that!"
Seeing Lynn Lin refuse to drink, Master Quentin Green, already planning to use force to make her swallow the wine, brazenly took out a wine cup. The wine inside flew straight from his hand toward Lynn Lin's mouth. Evan Yang was shocked—if he didn't intervene now, things would get troublesome.
Just as Lynn Lin was startled and Prince Adrian Wood was also surprised, Master Quentin Green's hand suddenly trembled, and the wine spilled.
"Damn it, cursed thing." Master Quentin Green was shocked, seeing a bug biting his hand. He quickly controlled his body to prevent poisoning, then forced the bug out one by one.
Prince Adrian Wood was shocked; he hadn't expected bugs here. Evan Yang seized the moment and said, "Prince Adrian Wood, it's dangerous here. I'll take Miss Lin back." He promptly led Lynn Lin away.
He had wanted to chase after Lynn Lin and Evan Yang, but seeing Master Quentin Green's grim face, Prince Adrian Wood asked, "What now?"
"It's fine, just give me some time," Master Quentin Green said. He forced the bugs out one by one, the process draining much of his strength. By the time he finished, he was exhausted and panting, "Found it."
He was now holding a bug in his hand, which was enclosed by a treasure artifact.
Seeing the bug, Prince Adrian Wood asked curiously, "How did it show up here? That's really strange."
"I think it must have something to do with those two. There's no way bugs just appear wherever they are every time," said Master Quentin Green.
"That can't be right. If they had such powerful bugs, they could've just refused me and wouldn't have come to House Wood at all," Prince Adrian Wood said suspiciously.
"Maybe they're afraid of the God behind all this," Master Quentin Green said.
"Looks like we need to investigate carefully. If they can control something so terrifying, that's really frightening," Prince Adrian Wood started to feel uneasy, but he still couldn't imagine Lynn Lin and Evan Yang having such things.
"Alright, I'll go back and study this bug thoroughly. Once I figure it out, I'll let you know. And make sure to keep a close watch on them—don't let them escape," said Master Quentin Green.
Prince Adrian Wood nodded, then looked around the scene, feeling extremely frustrated. He had planned a grand trap, but it turned out like this.
Back in the garden, Lynn Lin pulled Evan Yang into the house and asked, "What exactly happened just now?"
"Didn't you see? Master Quentin Green got bitten by a bug. If we hadn't left, we would've ended up like that too," Evan Yang said.
"It's really odd. Why do bugs keep appearing around us lately?" Lynn Lin wondered aloud.
"No idea," Evan Yang replied casually.
"What happened today was just too weird. I think it's best if we leave as soon as possible," said Lynn Lin.
"Have you figured out how to deal with the poison in your body?" Evan Yang asked.
"Not yet, but soon. If I push myself a bit more, maybe by tomorrow I'll have it sorted. You should go get some rest," Lynn Lin said with a smile.
Curious, Evan Yang returned to his room. He extended his divine sense to check the lakeside, but everyone there had already left.
Still hoping the mysterious woman would appear, he continued to linger there. Meanwhile, Master Quentin Green was in his own quarters, studying the bug from Evan Yang.
He discovered that the bug was losing its vitality and dying, which shocked him. "Damn it! Someone must be controlling it!"
A bug dying slowly after being caught was hard to believe—unless someone was controlling it. At least, that's what Master Quentin Green thought.
Unwilling to accept it, Master Quentin Green decided to investigate Lynn Lin and Evan Yang's garden at night to see if they were really as simple as they appeared.
So that night, Master Quentin Green went to Prince Adrian Wood and told him his plan. When Prince Adrian Wood heard it, he frowned and asked, "You really want to go?"
"Yeah, if we don't test them, how will we know if they're really like that?" said Master Quentin Green.
Prince Adrian Wood said worriedly, "What if they're really not what they seem?"
"If not, then we pretend nothing happened and keep searching for the bug's owner. But what if they are?" Master Quentin Green said with a smile.
Prince Adrian Wood found the plan workable, so he let Master Quentin Green sneak in, giving him a mask and special clothes to block his aura. Once everything was ready, Prince Adrian Wood sent Master Quentin Green to the garden and informed the guards below to ignore anything they saw that night.
With this arrangement, Master Quentin Green entered the garden smoothly. The servants with low cultivation didn't notice the black-clad figure, and Lynn Lin didn't sense anything either.
But Evan Yang, inside his room, quickly sensed it and muttered to himself, "Strange, someone coming in the middle of the night—what's that about?"
Knowing his current role, Evan Yang hurriedly lay down and pretended to sleep. Master Quentin Green had no idea Evan Yang had already detected him. He went to Lynn Lin's door, released knockout incense, and Lynn Lin soon lost consciousness. Master Quentin Green slipped inside, saw the messy room, felt like scolding her, but focused on business. He checked her body, found no abnormalities, then went next door to Evan Yang's room.
Using the same knockout incense, Evan Yang was immune to it, but he still pretended to be unconscious.
Master Quentin Green came to Evan Yang's side, first touching his hand and injecting power, watching as it moved through Evan Yang's body.
Evan Yang, pretending to sleep, could naturally sense where the power went—it traveled throughout his body. Master Quentin Green couldn't see inside Evan Yang, but felt something strange: as if something was blocking his power, but then, with a light touch, it vanished again.
In fact, Evan Yang was controlling his body, making sure the other party couldn't detect his true strength. Master Quentin Green withdrew his hand and muttered, "Strange, what's going on? How is his body so mysterious?"
Evan Yang continued to pretend to be unconscious, acting as if nothing had happened. Master Quentin Green thought it necessary to check again, so he took out a needle. Just as it was about to touch Evan Yang, Evan Yang suddenly woke up, suspiciously looking at Master Quentin Green and asking, "Who are you?"
Master Quentin Green hadn't expected Evan Yang to wake up so quickly—it was completely beyond his expectations.
At that moment, Master Quentin Green wanted to knock Evan Yang out again, but Evan Yang's loud "Who are you?" startled everyone nearby. Servants quickly swarmed over.
Master Quentin Green cursed inwardly and quickly retreated. The crowd saw a black blur vanish into the sky. The servants asked, "Steward Yang, what happened?"
"Someone tried a night assault just now. Go check on Miss Lin," Evan Yang said.
The crowd knocked on Lynn Lin's door, and Lynn Lin, woken by the commotion, stumbled out in confusion and asked, "What's going on?"
"Are you alright?" Evan Yang asked.
"What's happening?" Lynn Lin asked, puzzled.
"I'll explain in a bit," Evan Yang said, then told the servants outside, "You all can get back to work."
After that, everyone went back to work. Evan Yang called Lynn Lin into his room and asked, "Are you feeling any discomfort?"
"No, not at all," Lynn Lin replied, puzzled.
"That's odd," Evan Yang muttered.
"What's wrong with you? And what exactly happened just now?" Lynn Lin asked.
"Someone sneaked in just now and knocked us both out, then checked us over," Evan Yang said.
"How is that possible?" Lynn Lin exclaimed in shock.
"It's absolutely true, and that person was Master Quentin Green," Evan Yang said. He had sensed Master Quentin Green's aura during the check and was certain of his identity.
Lynn Lin was shocked to hear this. She found it strange—what was Master Quentin Green doing, and what did he want with her? She quickly questioned Evan Yang.
Evan Yang explained what happened. After hearing the whole story, Lynn Lin cursed, "Prince Adrian Wood is getting more and more outrageous, using such despicable means. I'm going to confront him right now!"
"Don't. He doesn't know we've figured out it was Master Quentin Green. He still thinks we don't know anything, since Master Quentin Green was wearing special clothes to block his aura. If I hadn't woken up just as he was checking me, I wouldn't have known either," Evan Yang said.
"Despicable, unforgivable!" Lynn Lin, who had planned to confront Prince Adrian Wood, calmed down after hearing Evan Yang's words and began discussing what to do with him. Late at night, Evan Yang returned to his own room.
What happened today made him realize that Prince Adrian Wood was starting to suspect him. He needed to be even more cautious and quickly get a grasp of the situation here. Still, what he liked most was visiting the lakeside.
When his divine sense reached the lakeside, he saw the mysterious woman playing the zither. Evan Yang was enraptured by the music.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Master Quentin Green frowned and said to Prince Adrian Wood, "That Evan Yang is a bit suspicious."
"What's wrong?" Prince Adrian Wood asked curiously.
"I don't know why, but he just feels off. Earlier, when I went there, he noticed me," said Master Quentin Green.
"What? He noticed you? How is that possible, with his level of strength?" Prince Adrian Wood said.
"Don't judge by appearances. Sometimes, things aren't as they seem," said Master Quentin Green.
Prince Adrian Wood still found it hard to believe that Evan Yang could be suspicious. Could he really have become a powerhouse? So he asked, "Really?"
"We'll know if we test him," said Master Quentin Green.
"How will you test him?" Prince Adrian Wood asked curiously.
"Hold a competition for personal guards. The winner gets a reward, but everyone must participate or face family discipline. Evan Yang will have to join, and when he faces strong opponents, unless he just gives up, he'll be forced to fight back," said Master Quentin Green.
"But I'll need my father's approval for that," Prince Adrian Wood said.
"Yes, go talk to him and get it done quickly. If Evan Yang really is the one, it'll be trouble if he escapes," said Master Quentin Green.
Prince Adrian Wood nodded. Unconsciously, he tended to follow Master Quentin Green's advice, which was just what Master Quentin Green wanted. He also remembered that Evan Yang had drunk his wine, and if necessary, he could use that as well.
