Against-the-Heavens Strength I

1/19/2026

Sitting atop Shadow’s back, Evan Chu gazed at the disciples marching out with him, heart pounding with excitement. He’d finally done it—riding an ancient sacred beast, leading his sect’s disciples to war across the land.

“Shadow, if you absorb the blood-reeking qi from those experts today, do you think you’ll break through?” Evan asked from Shadow’s back.

“Big Brother, I’m just like you now. Without the Netherghost Violet Orchid, I can’t break through either. Still, soaking in all that slaughter will definitely make me stronger. It’s about time we headed for the Netherworld.” Shadow’s voice had grown much more mature, catching Evan off guard.

During his year-plus of seclusion, Shadow had changed a lot. He was no longer that childish companion—he’d truly grown up. Evan couldn’t help but feel proud.

Frostbane Sect’s disciples surged toward the Blood Alliance gate, joined by Freewind Palace, Bloodfiend Hall, and the rest. They’d waited more than a year for this day—to wipe away old humiliation and deliver a crushing blow.

Meanwhile, inside the Blood Alliance’s grand hall, the four sect masters were like ants on a hot pan, anxiously listening to constant reports about Evan Chu’s movements. Worry lined every face.

Only Dark Sanctuary had vanished as if into thin air, leaving not a trace for two years. By now, everyone knew they were part of the dark organization. Their last ambush had left Frostbane Sect devastated and Heavenbane Demon General badly wounded—they must be recuperating, waiting for their next chance to strike.

“Now Frostbane Sect, Freewind Palace, Sacred Sword Sect, and the others are coming for us. What’s the plan? These sects are all powerful—our odds aren’t great,” one Blood Alliance master said.

“If it comes down to life and death, the Blood Emperor will step in. We made our choice, there’s no turning back—even if it means mutual destruction. Nothing to worry about,” another master replied.

“Honestly, I’m not that worried about Freewind Palace Lord or Sacred Sword Sect Master—they’re only a little stronger than us. If we really fight, it could go on for days without a winner. The only one I’m truly concerned about is Evan Chu, Frostbane Sect Master. He’s young, but his strength is terrifying.”

“Didn’t the Blood Emperor tell us to keep a low profile and avoid provoking Evan Chu of Frostbane Sect? Now that he’s leading his people here, how can we not be worried?” said a white-haired elder.

This elder wasn’t a sect master—he hailed from a hidden clan, and his cultivation had already reached the fourth layer of the Saint Martial Realm.

“When the time comes, two or three of us should gang up on the Frostbane Sect Master. No matter how strong he is, he hasn’t broken through to the Saint Martial Realm—his Stellar Power won’t last as long as ours. We’ll grind him down.” another master suggested.

“Alright, have the disciples strengthen defenses and be ready to strike. Today, let’s make sure they never return.”

It takes a full day to fly from Frostbane Sect to the Blood Alliance. Evan Chu’s group stopped more than five hundred li away, since it was already afternoon and the disciples needed to recover their Stellar Power.

After a night’s rest, they set out early the next morning and stopped about ten li from the Blood Alliance’s gate. Soon, disciples from Bloodfiend Hall and Freewind Palace arrived as well.

Evan Chu met with the Freewind Palace Lord and Bloodfiend Hall Master. “We must wipe out Blood Alliance today,” he declared. “I’ll handle two sect masters, you join forces against the other two. We split the loot and keep casualties to a minimum.”

The Sacred Sword Sect Master laughed, “With Evan Chu here, destroying Blood Alliance is a minor matter. They know we’re here, but remain silent—they’re definitely preparing an ambush.”

“Let’s go. Make it quick—I’ve got plenty of other things to handle,” Evan Chu said.

Everyone glanced at Evan’s mount, their hearts jolting in shock. Shadow’s aura was that of a fierce beast—an ancient sacred beast, no less.

Everyone understood Evan Chu’s mysterious background. Someone like him could only be befriended, never provoked—otherwise, you risk total annihilation.

Evan Chu was the first to arrive at the Blood Alliance gate. “Your sect master is here—aren’t you coming out to welcome me? Or do I need to prepare a special gift for you?” he called out.

Evan Chu’s voice rang out across the entire Blood Alliance, but not a soul stirred. He just smiled, summoned the Frostbane Sword, and declared, “Let’s see the power of my five-element fusion!”

For the first time, Evan channeled five-element power into his sword art. He unleashed Tyrant Cleave, eager to test if it was truly as formidable as Luna claimed.

A massive sword aura burst forth from the Frostbane Sword, wrapped in five-colored light. Evan was stunned, then slashed toward the Blood Alliance buildings from dozens of meters away—a distance that would weaken most attacks.

But Evan’s strike rivaled Earthsplitter, demolishing part of the Blood Alliance’s buildings and carving a two-meter-wide fissure in the ground. Thunderous booms and screams erupted from inside.

Even Evan hadn’t expected such overwhelming force—he’d only meant to draw the enemy out. If he’d unleashed Earthsplitter at full strength, the buildings might have been razed to the ground.

“Evan Chu, you’ve gone too far!” an elderly voice roared from inside. Instantly, dozens of furious figures shot into the sky.

Heh, your sect master comes to visit and you dare ignore me? That sword strike was just a greeting—want another?” Evan Chu laughed.

Freewind Palace Lord, Sacred Sword Sect Master, and the others gathered at Evan’s side, all inwardly shaken by his effortless display. They knew they could unleash similar power, but only with serious effort—not so casually.

“Kid, let me teach you a lesson!” An elder couldn’t hold back any longer and charged straight at Evan Chu.
