So, his heart really can feel pain!
Before, when she couldn't find Damien Gray, Morgan kept telling herself he would be fine, that nothing could happen to him. But now, watching him slowly stop breathing right in front of her, she was utterly powerless—even comforting herself with lies was impossible.
She loved him! In this moment, the truth was painfully clear.
Then everything went black, and she fainted. The last words echoing in her mind were: inseparable in life and death.
Knock, knock...
Morgan Shangguan frowned at the sound of knocking. Damien Gray would never be so polite, and the footsteps didn’t sound like his either.
She rose and opened the door to find Violet Snow standing outside. Morgan arched an eyebrow. Violet Snow spoke, "Cloud Guildmaster, may I have a word with you?"
Morgan’s eyes flashed. She stepped aside and said, "Come in."
After a while, Violet Snow walked out, her face skeptical. She ran into Damien Gray, paused, greeted him coolly, "Ghostmaster," and brushed past him without another word.
Damien Gray glanced at her in confusion. What had his Princess Consort been up to?
Sensing Damien Gray's gaze, Zixue curved her lips in a smile and walked away without stopping. Damien Gray entered the room, smiling as he asked, "What did you do this time, Princess Consort? That woman shouldn't have anything to do with the Ghost Gate, right?"
Morgan poured him a cup of tea and handed it over, laughing softly. "The Ghost Gate isn't the only thing I care about!" She took a sip, then asked, "You just barged right in like this? That’s so like you, Ghostmaster."
Damien Gray replied nonchalantly, "What’s there to be afraid of? Can’t I come to issue a challenge?"
Morgan laughed, then sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Do you know where the treasure is hidden?" she asked.
Damien Gray played with her hair, replying lazily, "Don’t you know already?"
"So, are you planning to take all those people with you to search for the treasure?"
Damien Gray narrowed his eyes at her. "Guildmaster Yun, you’re not thinking of keeping it all for yourself, are you?"
Morgan pressed her forehead to his and smiled. "I haven’t planned on keeping it for myself—at least not until I see the treasure. Who knows, it might just be a pile of useless junk. Or maybe, there’s no treasure at all!"
Damien Gray bit her lip gently and said knowingly, "So you want to go treasure hunting with the others?"
Morgan nodded. "Duanmu Li should be able to figure out the location soon, so for now, let’s just watch the show!"
"Does my Princess Consort admire him?"
Morgan considered for a moment. "Mm... Liam Duanmu truly is gifted..." She patted the arms tightly around her waist and smiled. "But he still can't compare to you, Ghostmaster!"
Damien Gray snorted coldly. "He should be grateful you don't care for him. Otherwise, I'd make sure he disappeared without a trace."
Morgan raised an eyebrow. "If I did care for him, and you killed him, I’d be heartbroken!"
Damien Gray narrowed his eyes, his smile turning dangerous. "Are you trying to make me angry, Princess Consort?"
Morgan feigned innocence. "I wouldn’t dare. If the Ghostmaster gets angry, the whole martial world would tremble!"
Damien Gray laughed. "Wouldn’t dare? Is there anything my Princess Consort wouldn’t dare to do?"
Morgan arched her brows, dropping the subject. She pulled him to his feet. "Rest now. Tomorrow, we go treasure hunting!"
Ethan Gu slowly woke, remembering something urgent. She quickly checked the person in her arms, trembling as she reached for his nose—he was still breathing, though faintly. Relief washed over her. She calmed herself and looked around. The cave was clearly man-made. Her gaze landed on a protruding stone in the wall, and her eyes lit up as she went over.
She gripped the stone and tried to turn it. "Click!"—the sound of a mechanism echoed, and the wall suddenly opened, letting in a shaft of light. Inside was a stone chamber, brightly lit by luminous pearls.
Ethan Gu carried Damien Gray over and laid him on a bed of white jade.
Inside, there were several boxes of gold, along with some scattered little chests whose contents were a mystery. And then there was the white jade bed—was this supposed to be the legendary treasure? It didn’t seem like it! If this was truly the treasure everyone sought, wasn’t it far too disappointing?
Without thinking much, Ethan Gu opened the chests one by one, discarding anything useless. The last chest contained a beautiful jade pendant, but it was useless to her, so she flung it to the ground. As she turned back to Damien Gray, she suddenly caught a whiff of medicine. She paused—what was that...?
She quickly went over and picked up a pill from the floor. It had rolled out of the shattered jade pendant!
Ethan Gu examined it closely—it looked just like the legendary Revival Elixir. She sniffed it; the ingredients matched the records exactly. Her heart leapt. She hadn’t expected to find such a thing here. She quickly fed it to Damien Gray, thinking: maybe this really is the treasure after all!
Healer’s Sanctuary was said to possess the power to revive the dead and heal broken flesh. In its earliest days, the Sanctuary had a Revival Elixir—no matter how grave the injury, as long as the person still breathed, they could be saved. But the elixir was limited; though the recipe survived, no one could recreate it. When the last pill was gone, the Sanctuary’s miracles faded into legend.
Back then, Ethan Gu’s talent gave Galen Gu hope—perhaps Healer’s Sanctuary could be restored to its former glory. So he treated her strictly. When he discovered her feelings for Damien Gray, he didn’t hesitate to offer the Sanctuary’s treasured Forget Dust, hoping she would sever that forbidden love and not tarnish the Sanctuary’s reputation.
If the guardian of the treasure was truly one of Grandmaster Xuan Tian’s Four Protectors, then the Revival Elixir here might have been crafted by Gavin Gu himself. So finding it in this place was not so strange after all.
"Mm..."
Seeing Damien Gray stir, Ethan Gu hurriedly helped him sit up, letting him lean against her. "Does anything still hurt?" she asked softly.
