Quentin Hua exploded in rage again. "Maxwell Jing, are you courting death?"
A hidden weapon shot toward Maxwell Jing, but he dodged with a tilt of his head. Seeing his attack miss, Quentin Hua didn't strike again—he was still injured, after all, and wouldn't choose this moment to risk everything against Maxwell Jing. Instead, he turned to Damien Gray and said, "I really can't leave now, so don't worry. That Cloud Guildmaster may be interested in me, but it's definitely not for my looks!"
He'd tried to seduce her and got nowhere—well, not exactly nowhere; the only effect was the wounds he now carried!
He was starting to doubt his own charm. Faced with his deliberate temptations, the Cloud Guildmaster hadn't even been stunned for a second—she'd simply injured him without hesitation, as if he were no different from any stray cat or dog.
Could it be that her obliviousness is exactly what won over Damien Gray's heart?
Hua Qianyu sighed. "Damien Gray, there aren't many clever people in this world, but there are plenty of fools. Why did you have to pick a man?" Was it because he was especially foolish? Foolish to the point of being one of a kind?
He firmly believed in his own allure, so the only explanation was that the Cloud Guildmaster was just too dense—so dense she couldn't be tempted by him at all!
Damien Gray snorted coldly and turned to leave, pointedly ignoring Quentin Hua's last remarks. Whether the Cloud Guildmaster was truly foolish, he would find out soon enough!
Quentin Hua watched him go and shook his head. Who would have thought Damien Gray had really fallen for a man? He didn't mind, but if the Ghostmaster and the Cloud Guildmaster ever got together, it would surely shock half the martial world!
Suddenly, a thought struck him and his face froze. Wait a minute! Damien Gray said before that he only liked women. Could it be... Fiona Yun is actually a woman?
Of course Damien Gray knew Morgan Shangguan wasn't someone who coveted beauty, but he still couldn't rest easy. Narrowing his eyes, he headed toward his own room and ordered, "Ethan Gu, have Jade Greenfield come see me!"
Upon hearing this, Ethan Gu turned and went to find Jade Greenfield.
Back in his room, with Morgan Shangguan nowhere in sight, Damien Gray wasn't surprised. He picked up the cup of tea Morgan had poured earlier, studied the leaves swirling inside, and a faint smile curled his lips—his eyes full of determination.
Morgan Shangguan was lying on her bed, about to fall asleep, when she suddenly noticed someone at her bedside. In the moonlight, she saw it was Damien Gray. Morgan frowned, "Damien Gray, what are you doing in my room?"
Damien Gray reached out and scooped her off the bed, smiling. "Princess Consort, it's time we returned to the Ghost King's Manor."
Morgan Shangguan was caught off guard. "Why are we going back at this hour?" She tilted her head slightly, waiting for his answer—not realizing she was still in Damien Gray's arms.
Damien Gray's eyes flickered. He lowered his head and kissed her lips. Morgan Shangguan frowned and pushed him away, her voice edged with warning. "Damien Gray!"
Damien Gray seemed a bit disappointed. Gazing at her lips, he explained, "The Royal Ceremony is approaching. We have to attend."
Morgan Shangguan frowned. "But Rakshasa Palace is about to make their move. Leaving now isn't wise." Wouldn't that just give them the chance to rally everyone against her? Besides, the situation with Hua Qianyu was still unresolved, and there were no clues about the poisoning of the palace master.
Damien Gray sighed. "Princess Consort, do you want me to go back alone? How am I supposed to explain that to Father? Besides, the emperor will lead the royal family to Serenity Temple for the ceremony, and if the Princess Consort is missing, what will they think?"
Seeing Morgan Shangguan frown, clearly weighing the pros and cons, Damien Gray continued, "Besides, I asked Jade Greenfield—this Evil Path Gathering is just a chance for everyone to meet up!"
"Impossible!" Morgan Shangguan clearly didn't believe him. Did he take her for a fool? Mobilizing so many just for a get-together? Even if that's the official reason, there's definitely something fishy underneath. And with Rakshasa Palace leaderless and desperate for someone to take charge, spending all this effort just to meet would mean they're either mad or idiots!
It's obvious this gathering is aimed at the Cloud Guild!
Suddenly, something occurred to Morgan Shangguan. She stared into Damien Gray's eyes and asked, "Did you do something?"
Damien Gray smiled. "All I did was guarantee that the Cloud Guild wouldn't cause trouble for Rakshasa Palace!"
Morgan Shangguan narrowed her eyes and gave a faint, mocking smile. "So, Ghostmaster, are you planning to make an enemy of the Cloud Guild?"
Damien Gray looked innocent. "Didn't the Cloud Guildmaster say she never intended to target Rakshasa Palace?"
Morgan Shangguan snorted. "That was only if Rakshasa Palace didn't provoke the Cloud Guild!" If someone was determined to seek their own destruction, she wasn't about to go out of her way to save them!
Damien Gray mused, "Is that so? Well, then, I hereby guarantee to the Cloud Guildmaster that Rakshasa Palace won't dare trouble the Cloud Guild. How about that?"
Morgan Shangguan said nothing, but she was clearly displeased. In the end, she was bundled into a carriage in the middle of the night.
Inside the carriage, Susie Yun asked in confusion, "Miss, why are we rushing back so soon? I haven't even had a chance to explore Blue Lake City! And why is the Ghostmaster in our carriage?"
Morgan Shangguan replied calmly, "To attend the Royal Ceremony."
"Huh?" Susie Yun was surprised. She paused, making sure she hadn't misheard, then asked, "Miss, are you sure? There's still almost two months until the Royal Ceremony!"
Morgan Shangguan was taken aback, glanced at the man pretending to sleep beside her, her eyes flashing with danger though her voice remained calm. "Then when is the worship at the Royal Temple?"
Susie Yun answered honestly, "His Majesty will lead the royal family to worship at the Royal Temple a month in advance, but there's still more than half a month to go!"
Morgan Shangguan's eyes grew even more dangerous. She turned to the man who seemed not to hear a thing and gritted her teeth, "Damien Gray!" Frustration flickered in her heart, mixed with curiosity—how did he know she happened not to be clear about the timing of the Royal Ceremony?
She hadn't been in Silvermoon Kingdom long, but as the Cloud Guildmaster, there shouldn't be much she didn't know. Yet, she really hadn't paid attention to the Royal Ceremony's schedule. Since Damien Gray dared to use such a basic fact to scheme against her, he must have been certain she didn't know!
