"You're the banker, so naturally you roll the dice," Joe Di said, tapping the table.
What's the point of rolling the dice? You can't win thirty-six times the payout.
"If that's the case, then allow me to show my skills," Frank Qi replied, as if he weren't gambling tens of billions with Joe Di, but simply having a casual contest.
After speaking, Frank Qi flicked his hand, and three dice were immediately swept into the dice cup.
Joe Di closed his eyes. He realized that when the dealer shook the dice earlier, he could clearly sense the dice inside the cup, but when Frank Qi shook them, his perception instantly became blurred.
It was as if an invisible force enveloped the three dice, causing them to change unpredictably under its influence.
"Pa." The dice cup landed on the table. Frank Qi smiled at Joe Di. "You may place your bets now, my friend."
"Help me exchange for ten chips worth ten million each," Joe Di said, taking out a chip.
Joe Di couldn't make out the result of Frank Qi's dice at all. Betting now was clearly just giving away money. He decided to use several ten-million chips as tuition—one hundred million at a time. This tuition was a bit too expensive.
Frank Qi said blandly, "For my dice, the minimum bet is one hundred million Union Credits."
He was looked down upon, yet Joe Di found that he wasn't all that angry.
Back in Pearl City, he always looked down on the casinos. When had a mere dealer ever dared to look down on Old Joe Di? If a dealer in Pearl City had dared to disrespect him, they'd have been dragged out like a dead dog and tossed into the street. Yet now, he wasn't even a little bit angry.
He secretly took a breath. People really do change.
Joe Di waved his hand, signaling the approaching attendant to step aside. He directly placed a one hundred million Union Credit chip on 123.
The dice cup was revealed, and as expected, Joe Di lost.
The second time, Joe Di focused all his attention, listening intently to the sound of the dice.
Frank Qi's skills were clearly leagues above ordinary dealers. Even on his second try, Joe Di still couldn't figure anything out.
The third time, the fourth time...
On the seventh attempt, when Joe Di reached for another chip, he realized all ten of his hundred-million chips were gone.
The crowd around him sighed in disbelief. Ten billion Union Credits—Joe Di had lost it all in just eight bets.
"Would you like to go another round, my friend?" Frank Qi asked Joe Di with a smile.
Joe Di ignored Frank Qi and handed his bank card to the nearby attendant. "Get me fifty more chips worth one hundred million each."
"Friend, gambling is just a way to relax when you're exhausted. As far as I know, nobody has ever gotten rich by gambling. I gamble too, but I only lose pocket change. If I start losing, I walk away immediately." The long-haired young man, seeing Di Jiu about to lose everything, quickly tried to persuade him.
Di Jiu nodded to the long-haired youth. "You're right. I'm actually just a prodigal, hoping to squander all my money away."
Di Jiu understood the dangers of gambling even better than the long-haired youth. In Pearl City, he'd seen too many people lose everything, ending up worse than dead.
If he weren't at Qi Refining Level Three, and hadn't just discovered that his spiritual power could almost sense the dice inside the cup, he wouldn't have kept gambling. The young man was right—nobody has ever made a fortune from gambling, not from ancient times to now.
If you gamble, you'll eventually lose everything—and drag your family down with you. That's a universal truth. (Author's aside: If you're not a cultivator, seriously, stay away from gambling. If you are a cultivator and still gamble—come on, have some self-respect!)
Seeing Joe Di exchange another five billion Union Credits for chips, the whole third floor buzzed with excitement again.
Although Di Jiu always bet one hundred million at a time, which seemed monotonous, to everyone present, this was the most thrilling gamble they'd ever seen.
The dice were being rolled by Frank Qi, one of the world's most famous gambling kings. And the other guy, a prodigal, bet at least one hundred million Union Credits every time. Not only that, after losing ten billion Union Credits, he exchanged another fifty billion. No matter how monotonous this gamble was, it captured everyone's attention.
Some people from the first and second floors even exchanged ten-million chips just to come up to the third floor and watch.
Di Jiu kept losing one hundred million at a time, as if he had grown numb to it, but the crowd only grew more excited.
Although many people sympathized with Di Jiu, no one tried to persuade him to stop gambling anymore. Some even wondered what he would do once all his chips were gone.
With each lost bet, Joe Di's perception of the three dice grew clearer. Compared to the previous dealer, Frank Qi's dice throws were even better at honing Joe Di's spiritual sense. Frank Qi was the one helping him train his spiritual power; at this rate, he would soon be able to sense the dice again, just like before.
When only seven chips remained in front of Joe Di, his spiritual power finally broke through the barrier around the three dice, and he once again experienced that familiar sensation. The dice in Frank Qi's cup went from blurry to clear in his mind, and a three-dimensional image appeared in his consciousness.
"Four, one, six." Without hesitation, Joe Di placed all seven remaining chips on 416.
The atmosphere grew even more intense. Di Jiu had always bet one hundred million at a time and lost each time, but now he was staking seven hundred million in a single bet.
Frank Qi stared at Joe Di's chips, his heart sinking. More than anyone, he knew he'd rolled a 416 this time. Other dealers might not be sure what they'd rolled, but if Frank Qi couldn't tell, he wouldn't deserve the title of gambling king.
"No more bets! Reveal the dice! Hurry, reveal the dice!" someone in the crowd couldn't help but shout.

After Di Jiu placed a seven-hundred-million bet all at once, everyone wanted to know if he'd finally win. Otherwise, why would he have the confidence to stake so much?
Joe Di continued to stare intently at the dice cup, but at this point, he wasn't really gambling anymore—he was trying to capture that fleeting thread of spiritual power.
When the dice cup was opened, Di Jiu, thanks to his intense focus and keen hearing, distinctly caught an almost inaudible 'click.'
Was that the sound of the dice being flipped?
Joe Di didn't need to think further—the numbers 4, 1, 5 were plainly displayed on the table. He was sure he hadn't sensed it wrong. Now that 415 had appeared, plus that faint click he'd heard, even an idiot would know Frank Qi had cheated.
A wave of regretful sighs swept through the crowd. This was the second time Joe Di had missed by just one number. If that 5 had been a 6, he would have won billions in Union Credits with a single bet.
It wasn't just Di Jiu—everyone nearby felt sorry for him.
Joe Di stared coldly at Frank Qi. "You cheated."
Di Jiu stared coldly at Feng Qi. "You cheated."
Frank Qi's face darkened. "No one has ever cheated in my Xiantian Casino. If everyone who lost acted like you, they shouldn't come here at all."
Some people around began to look at Di Jiu with disdain. If you can't afford to lose, why pretend to be a high roller?
A surge of anger shot to Joe Di's brow—he almost threw a few fireballs at Frank Qi. But he quickly restrained his foolish impulse. If he did that, no amount of money would matter; he'd never get to attend the Celestial Star Treasure Auction. More importantly, a fireball was too easy a punishment for this guy. If he didn't break this casino, he wouldn't be satisfied.
But that anger still burned at his brow. His spiritual power, already highly focused, now felt as if something at his brow had shattered—a faint crack echoed in his mind.
Joe Di closed his eyes and was shocked to find his consciousness could pass through the dice cup, clearly seeing what was inside. He was stunned—was this his spiritual power at work?
But after only a moment, Joe Di's head began to spin, and he quickly withdrew his spiritual power. He glared at Frank Qi. "If I won, you'd probably say I cheated too."
"Haha! No guest has ever been accused of cheating in my Xiantian Casino. And no guest has ever dared to cheat here. If you really have the ability to cheat in front of me and I can't catch you, then you haven't cheated at all!" Frank Qi laughed heartily.
"Very well." Joe Di took out his bank card and said to the attendant, "There should be another five billion in here. Exchange it all for chips."
