I Am an Aloof Person

"Selina, you’re here! Long time no see." Gavin Guan smiled at Selina as she appeared.

The crowd beside Gavin sized up Selina as she stepped out of the car, their eyes full of curiosity.

Some of the girls shot Selina looks full of hostility and scrutiny, while the guys were clearly wowed by her.

Selina wasn’t just pretty in the usual makeup-dependent way—her whole vibe was on another level.

"It’s been a while, but my brother and Allen Ju aren’t in Jinnan right now. Your timing’s a bit off, otherwise they’d have shown you a good time." Selina nodded, her tone calm.

Everyone there was part of the Oceanport crowd, and they’d all heard about Gavin and Allen Ju’s little beef. Hearing Selina talk like that, they figured Gavin would get pissed, but he just grinned: "No worries, no worries. Once they’re back in Oceanport, I’ll treat them right. Besides, I came to Jinnan just to see you."

As soon as Gavin said that, the whole crew got the hint and stared at Selina. Even the rich girls who didn’t like her kept up appearances.

"Gavin always talks about you, says you’re the most unique girl in all of Jinnan. Now that we’ve met, you definitely lived up to the hype." one girl giggled.

"No kidding—if Gavin can’t get you out of his head, you’re definitely something special." a guy grinned, his eyes glinting.

"Since you’re here, let’s have some fun. Come on, Selina, I’ll take you inside." Gavin stepped forward, about to lead Selina by the hand around her pink Beetle.

But just as Gavin Guan reached the passenger side, about to walk around, there was a sudden bang—the door flew open from inside.

Oof!

Caught off guard, Gavin took the car door straight to the gut. His face twisted in pain as he sucked in a sharp breath.

He quickly steadied himself, barely keeping from falling over. Getting knocked down here would’ve been seriously embarrassing.

"Who the hell?!" Gavin glared at the car door, furious.

The rest of the group looked pissed too, staring down the guy who’d just climbed out of the passenger seat.

The guy looked stylish, sunglasses making him seem extra cold. He wasn’t that tall, maybe five-nine, but his lean build and totally indifferent vibe made him stand out.

"Are you blind? Didn’t you see someone standing here before you opened the door?" One guy smashed his wine glass on the ground, pissed off.

"Do you even know who you just hit? Are you looking to die?" Another guy cursed, cracking his knuckles and stepping forward.

They were used to being the ones dishing out beatdowns in Oceanport—nobody ever dared hit them. Gavin especially, with his family connections, only got checked by weirdos like Allen Ju and Warren Wu.

But the girls, when they saw Evan Lin step out of the car, couldn’t help blushing, their hearts pounding.

"Sorry, I’m just kind of aloof, so I’m not explaining anything. If you’ve got questions, ask Selina." Evan said coolly.

Aloof, huh?

Gavin’s face darkened at Evan’s words, and his crew looked at Evan like he was crazy.

No normal person would talk like that!

Evan’s words were pure provocation.

"You!" someone rolled up their sleeves, ready to rush Evan, but Gavin held him back, squinting at Evan. "Aloof, huh? That’s a first. You’ve got guts!"

Gavin spoke coldly, anger simmering inside as he straightened up and looked at Selina. "Selina, aren’t you going to introduce us?"

"Oh, this is my boyfriend." Selina sighed, naturally linking arms with Evan. "As for his name, that’s none of your business."

"Your boyfriend’s got quite the personality!" Gavin snorted. "But I wonder if he knows who Kai Chen is."

"Kai Chen chased you for ages, and now someone else swooped in. No way he’ll let this slide."

"That’s none of your concern." Selina shook her head.

"Since you’re here, let’s hang out. Come on." Gavin took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "I want to see what makes your aloof boyfriend tick."

Gavin looked hostile, most of the guys glaring at Evan, while the girls watched with interest. A few girls already wondered how to get Evan’s attention.

Gavin’s crew led the way, moving in a pack. Evan and Selina trailed behind, heading inside.

"I told you to act aloof, not announce it! Who says stuff like that?" Selina whispered, pinching Evan’s arm.

Evan, sunglasses on, stood tall and yawned. "Want me to smack him later?"

With his build, I’m afraid one slap might kill him.

Selina felt a headache coming on. Evan’s thinking was just wild—fearless to the point of insanity.

Selina was still shocked Evan had hit Gavin with the car door. He hadn’t said a word—just acted. Gavin must be dying to tear him apart by now.

Actually, Evan hit Gavin right out of the gate to provoke him—hoping he’d act all spoiled, demand a fight, and make it easy to take him down.

That way, Evan could drop them all at once and avoid extra trouble.

But Gavin managed to hold back his rage, which surprised Evan.

Up ahead, Leo Liu kept glancing back at Evan, sunglasses on, puzzled. He swore he’d seen Selina’s new guy somewhere before.
