Adrian’s Reply

1/4/2026

"You..." Jumin Jing was fuming, but given Adrian Drake's status, he didn't dare strike back. He could only demand, "If she's so wonderful, why did you reject her? She's liked you for years!"

Adrian Drake pressed his lips together. "Get lost!"

Jumin Jing let out a cold laugh, spun around, and stomped off.

Adrian stood blankly in front of Luna Lian's door, then finally slumped away, utterly dejected.

...

Luna Lian felt utterly incapable of calming down.

She went to find Lucy Luan, and the moment she saw her, she burst into tears.

"What on earth happened? Can you please explain? Are you trying to make me die of anxiety?" Lucy demanded.

"Sis... I told him today," Luna said.

"Huh? Who? Adrian Drake?"

Luna nodded.

"Why... why did you suddenly tell him?" Lucy was panicking. "Why didn't you talk to me first?"

Luna said quietly, "It was just an impulse..."

She didn't want to mention anything about Jumin Jing.

Because knowing Lucy's personality, she'd definitely go confront him again.

She didn't want her sister to always be fighting with people for her sake.

Like last time with Fourth Highness—Lucy shoved him into a manure pit... To this day, whenever Fourth Highness sees them, he acts like they're mortal enemies...

"So... what did he say?"

"He didn't say anything." Luna started crying again.

"Don't cry yet! If he didn't say anything, maybe he just hasn't processed it..." Lucy said. "It was so sudden, after all!"

Luna's heart skipped as she remembered how dazed and wooden Adrian had looked at the time.

"Then I'll go ask him directly!" She jumped up and dashed off. Lucy tried to stop her, but Luna turned into a streak of light and was gone.

"Oh, come on! Seriously!" Lucy groaned and hurried after her.

Luna ran straight to Adrian Drake's place.

Adrian opened the door and saw the sisters arriving one after the other, looking a bit stunned.

"Adrian! You still haven't answered the question I asked you earlier," Luna said bluntly.

Adrian avoided her gaze and stayed silent.

"Honestly, at first, my brother and sister didn't want to come to Drake Abyss for the Palace Guard Barracks! I wanted to come! And... I came here for you."

Adrian's hand on the doorframe tightened, veins standing out, but he still said nothing.

Lucy watched him and thought he looked like Sean Shaw had possessed his body...

Luna gathered her courage, her eyes determined, and said, "Whether you give me hope or cut off my fantasy, just give me an answer! Otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight."

Adrian looked at her for a long time, his voice rough and dry. "You're an exceptionally good girl—don't listen to Jumin Jing's nonsense!"

Luna bit her lip. "So?"

"But... right now... I can only be your junior brother." Adrian lifted his head and met her gaze.

Luna's tears spilled over instantly. Choking, she said, "I understand... Don't worry, we'll still be senior-sister and junior-brother, still comrades. You don't need to feel any psychological pressure. I'll sort myself out soon."

She turned and ran off.

Lucy pointed at Adrian, who hung his head like a condemned man, radiating defeat and saying nothing.

"I'm going crazy! Seriously..." Lucy chased after Luna again.

But Luna hadn't gone back to her room—no one knew where she'd run off to.

Lucy tried calling her with a Messenger Charm, but got no response.

Just then, Mia Quinn happened to be passing by. Lucy grabbed her and said, "Mia! Quick, use your bloodline tracking spell to help me find Luna!"
