Before They Take the Bait

After the three Divine Beasts finished muttering, they looked at the serpent and then left, while the serpent was left cursing them hundreds of times in its heart.

As for Evan Yang, he had already arrived at his destination. Seeing the thing before him, he was stunned. In front of him was a huge mountain hollow, and inside lay a gigantic person, wrapped in layer upon layer of white cloth. All around, countless fine threads—like spider silk—carried drops of blood toward the giant’s body.

“Is this the Corpse Emperor?” Evan Yang muttered to himself as he looked at the enormous figure. Fortunately, the Corpse Emperor was asleep at the moment—so long as he didn’t disturb him, there shouldn’t be any trouble.

With this thought in mind, Evan Yang released his divine sense to check the area. He discovered someone trapped in a dense web of threads. At first, Evan didn’t recognize who it was, but after a closer look, his expression turned to surprise. “How could it be him!”

The person Evan saw was none other than Derek, his disciple. Derek possessed a unique constitution in the Fiend Realm. Although his cultivation hadn’t reached the Immortal level yet, he was already at the pseudo-Immortal stage. But even with such strength, he was utterly powerless before the Corpse Emperor, whose might rivaled Immortal Sovereigns.

At that moment, Derek was using a tool to try and cut the threads, but found he could barely sever any. The threads were like a net, wrapping him tightly inside. “Damn it, damn it! I refuse to believe I can’t get out!” Derek shouted.

Evan Yang knew that exposing himself carelessly could easily wake the Corpse Emperor. So he sent a voice transmission: “Don’t be startled, it’s me.”

Derek couldn’t help but be startled. Suddenly hearing a familiar voice echoing in his ears, he looked around, thinking his hearing was failing.

“Stop looking around. It’s me, Evan Yang. Now isn’t the time to come out,” Evan said.

“You? Master?” Derek exclaimed.

“That’s right. I didn’t expect to find you here. But we don’t have time to talk now—let’s get out of here first,” Evan Yang said.

Derek knew his master had the ability to get him out, so his face lit up with excitement. Evan Yang took out the Limitless Spear and, with a few swift strikes, cut through the threads. Once the threads were severed, Evan grabbed Derek and instantly vanished, heading off in a certain direction.

With the threads cut, part of the blood supply to the corpse was interrupted. The corpse’s eyes suddenly opened, shaking the realm as it stared at the fleeing Evan Yang and roared, “Damn it!”

“Evan Yang, just wait—I’ll make you my puppet!” A voice echoed from within the Corpse Emperor, and if Evan saw who it was, he would be utterly shocked.

But Evan Yang was puzzled. He had already flown far away, so how could he still hear someone saying his name and threatening to make him a puppet?

“Could it be the Corpse Emperor? He really is extraordinary.” Evan Yang was shocked at first, thinking the Corpse Emperor was chasing him, but then realized he hadn’t appeared. Evan had already flown for a while, rising up into the sky and finally leaving the Corpseforge Realm.

“Good thing I got out easily,” Evan Yang muttered after emerging.

He flew for a while, leaving Corpse-Refiner Mountain. Back inside the Corpseforge Realm, the corpse moved, slowly rising up and letting out a roar. Three ‘Divine Beasts’ appeared.

“My lord,” the three beasts called out in unison.

“What are you all doing? Someone got in and you didn’t even notice!” The corpse didn’t open its mouth, but its angry voice echoed throughout the space.
