"Mandy?"
Inside the restaurant.
Harvey Jiao and the others looked at Mandy Yu, puzzled by her increasingly ugly expression.
Actually, just as Evan Lin said.
Last time in Whitewood County, Evan helped Ken Feng out, and in the end left Raymond Rong a bank card to pay the damages—but deliberately didn’t give him the PIN, completely setting him up.
Because of that, Raymond later got a brutal beating from the Whitewood hotel owner.
That incident cost Raymond all his face, and made him determined to trip up Evan and Ken’s group whenever he could.
Raymond only told Mandy about this after she returned to Capitalview.
So Mandy always felt that Evan tossing the bank card to help Ken was just putting on airs—deliberately screwing Raymond over to give Ken and the others a perfect way out.
But Mandy never imagined Evan could actually pay for this meal—and for a bill over ten thousand yuan, he didn’t even blink?
"It’s... it’s nothing."
Mandy’s tone was stiff, and her gaze at Evan was filled with feelings she couldn’t put into words.
"Looks like you’ve got some beef with Raymond, huh?"
Raymond never spread the story around, afraid his own circle would laugh at him.
Harvey didn’t know all the details, but with three pretty girls at his side, he looked at Evan and wasn’t about to just let things go: "Raymond’s my bro—if you’ve got beef with him, then you’ve got beef with me, Harvey Jiao!"
"Here’s the deal—keep eating, I’ll call Raymond over right now."
"When he gets here, no matter what you did before, you kneel and apologize to him—sound good?"
Harvey spoke as he pulled out his phone, ready to make the call.
Evan glanced at him and nodded: "Looks like today’s not going to end peacefully."
"But compared to that loser Raymond, I think you’re in for even bigger trouble."
Evan smiled.
That made Harvey Jiao raise an eyebrow, his hand frozen in mid-dial.
Everyone around who heard Evan’s voice was startled.
With the way Manager Colin Cui and Harvey Jiao had been talking, and Harvey’s expensive clothes, even an idiot could see Harvey had status here.
But Evan’s words just made a lot of people feel amused.
Calling trouble for someone in their own territory?
“Tsk tsk, bro, looks like you don’t know the rules around here.”
Harvey snorted.
Manager Cui, seeing things go south, tried to set the caviar down on the table.
“Sorry, I’ve paid the bill, but you’ve ruined my appetite. Don’t bother serving that.”
Evan shook his head, leaving Manager Cui standing there awkwardly.
Then Evan glanced at Harvey, leaning back casually: "Whatever path I walk, that path becomes the rules."
“Nice! You sure know how to talk!”
Harvey was so mad he laughed. He looked at Manager Cui and said, "Manager Cui, go call someone over!"
“Someone’s here to smash up the store today, and you’re just standing there! What are you waiting for—a disaster?”
Harvey barked out the order.
Manager Cui, already annoyed by Evan, felt even more put out.
Now, hearing Harvey, he snapped to attention and nodded quickly: "Got it!"
He shouted to the waiters: "Call all the security over!"
The waiters didn’t dare delay and hurried off to get help.
Manager Cui looked around at the diners, full of apologies, and announced loudly: "Sorry, everyone! Someone’s smashing up the place today, so we need to take care of it!"
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. All bills today will be 20% off!
Manager Cui tried to calm the diners down.
A few people saw the burly security guards coming from the back and wanted to speak up for Evan, but their friends held them back.
Most people didn’t want trouble and kept quiet.
"With so many people here, it’s not convenient to handle things—why don’t we go to the back?" Manager Cui looked at Evan, his smile obviously fake.
"Scared or what?" One of Harvey’s girls sneered.
"Doesn’t matter if you want to or not—it’s not up to you." Another girl glanced at the approaching guards, smiling.
Mandy sat there, watching Evan’s calm face, and for no reason felt a surge of panic inside.
Even now, Harvey’s side had the numbers, while Evan was all alone.
But Mandy couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
"Enough talk—just drag him out! He’s annoying to look at!"
Harvey gave the order.
The security guards rolled up their sleeves and strode over.
Many people watched the scene unfold.
Evan sat calmly, picked up his cup of tea, and rinsed his mouth.
Seeing this, quite a few people thought Evan must be crazy.
"He’s not running yet?"
"Does he really plan to fight all of them alone?"
Watching Evan rinse his mouth so confidently, even more people were confused.
The group of security guards strode toward Evan.
Manager Cui stepped aside coldly to let them pass.
Harvey Jiao smirked, plotting how to get something out of Raymond Rong after dealing with Evan. He glanced at Mandy Yu, wondering if he should show off by kicking Evan a few times once the guards had him pinned.
"Are you... Brother Lin?"
Just as the guards were about to move in.
The restaurant door swung open.
From behind the guards came a hesitant but powerful voice.
Everyone turned instinctively toward the door at the unexpected voice.
They saw a man with an imposing physique stride inside.
With a casual wave, he shoved aside the burly guards blocking his way.
The burly guards, who looked so tough to everyone else, were like paper in front of him, unable to resist at all. His strength was obvious.
And the fierce aura he gave off was truly intimidating.
"Is he here for that kid? Maybe the guy’s after him because he stole someone’s wallet!"
"Could be! God, just looking at him makes me nervous."
Seeing the newcomer, many people panicked and wished they could get as far away as possible.
