Strange Souls and the Power Behind Them
Evan Yang chuckled, "No rush. Let him suffer a bit and learn his lesson—he can't expect us to save him every time."
Brocade nodded, but he was anxious inside. After all, he'd watched Liam Yang grow up—how could he bear to let him suffer? Evan just smiled without saying anything.
Inside Watermoon Grotto, Liam Yang was feeling extremely frustrated. He kept calling out for Evan, but Evan simply didn't respond.
“Dad, you’re not really going to let me die here, are you?” Liam grumbled in frustration.
Outside the formation, Elder Master Yang sneered, “Go ahead and die, go ahead and die. I want to see Evan Yang’s reaction when his son dies.”
After more than half an hour like this, Liam was completely exhausted and unable to resist any longer. Just as he was about to perish, someone suddenly appeared. Seeing who it was, Liam broke into a smile, while Elder Master Yang was both shocked and pleased. “So you finally came after all,” he said.
“So it’s you.” Evan sneered as soon as he heard the voice.
“That’s right, it’s me. I’ve waited for you for years. You finally came back, but now the Yang family is finished. As a member of the Yangs, how does that feel? Disappointed you can’t be clan head?” Elder Master Yang laughed.
“Clan head? Why would I want that? I never cared, that was just your wishful thinking.” Evan replied.
“Impossible. How could you not want the Yang family, when it’s so big?” Elder Master Yang sneered.
“Yang clan leader, with my current cultivation, I can already create space. If I wanted, I could make my own world. Tell me—which is bigger, a whole world or the Yang family?” Evan laughed.
Elder Master Yang grew angry at these words. “You—”
“I told you, it’s just your wishful thinking.” Evan said as he helped Liam up. Elder Master Yang paused for a moment, then snorted, “No matter what, you made it so my son never came back. So this is all your fault. You and your father, you’re people the Yang family should never have had.”
“People it shouldn’t have? That’s hilarious. But I’m not here to argue with you today—I just want to know, where are those two?” Evan asked.
“Them? Right behind me. But you’re not getting out today. This is a grand array—even if you’re a God, you can’t escape.” Elder Master Yang laughed.
“You really underestimate me. Who said I’m just at God level? Let me show you.” Evan smiled. With that, he drew the Limitless Spear and forcibly attacked the surrounding space. With a thunderous boom, the array shattered, blasting Elder Master Yang and his wife out and exposing them before Evan.
“No way! Impossible!” Elder Master Yang couldn’t believe Evan had broken the array so easily.
“Nothing’s impossible. Today, you two are coming back with me to see the Yang clan leader.” Evan smiled, then flashed forward to grab Elder Master Yang. Just then, the couple’s faces suddenly changed, their bodies turning pitch black. With a violent explosion, they blasted Evan away. Evan quickly regained his footing, and he and Liam frowned at the spot where the couple had just self-destructed.
“Self-destruction?” Evan muttered suspiciously.
“Dad, they’re really ruthless.” Liam mumbled.
“Boss, what do we do now?” Brocade asked, sounding uncertain.
Evan said to Liam, “Their bodies are dead, but their souls are still around. I just don’t know where they went.”
Suddenly a voice echoed, “Evan Yang, our bodies are gone this time, but next time we see you, we’ll kill you!”
“Paranoid ghosts!” Evan found the source of the voice and hurled the Limitless Spear at it. With a flash of light, the two souls vanished instantly.
Evan retrieved his Limitless Spear and frowned. “When did those two start cultivating such strange soul powers?”
Just then, the pair—a man and a woman, Leon Yang’s younger brother and sister—spotted Evan and called out in delight.
Evan walked over and disabled the array trapping them.
“You finally came!” the woman said excitedly.
“Did you see what happened just now? What kind of technique did he practice to end up like that?” Evan asked suspiciously.
The man shook his head. “I don’t know what happened to big brother. Ever since he destroyed the Yang family, he’s been totally different. Sometimes his tone gets really weird, too.”
“His heart’s always been crooked, full of resentment. Don’t bother with people like that,” the woman said.
But Evan still looked troubled. He told everyone, “You all stay here for now. I’m going to check out Watermoon Grotto.” With that, Evan flashed away, leaving them behind.
The woman turned to Liam and asked, “Who are you?”
“I’m Liam Yang, Evan’s son. Who are you?” Liam asked curiously.
“I’m Evan’s aunt. You can call me grandaunt.” The woman smiled. The man laughed, “And what about me?”
“Granduncle, of course.” The woman chuckled. Liam, meeting them for the first time, politely greeted them.
The three started chatting. Evan, meanwhile, was deep inside Watermoon Grotto. This cave-mansion had been created by someone else, and Evan felt the aura was strangely familiar, though he couldn’t recall who it belonged to.
“Who could it be? Why does it feel so familiar?” Evan muttered suspiciously.
He wandered around inside until he saw a faint wisp of black energy drifting through the space. Evan’s face turned shocked. “I remember now—it’s you!”
Evan finally recognized the source of the aura—it was the same energy once forced out from the Heaven-Cold seed.
In other words, it was the same person who had once framed him. Evan was now intensely curious—just who was the one who set him up and implanted the Heaven-Cold seed in his body?
After searching Watermoon Grotto for a long time without finding any more clues, Evan had no choice but to leave.
When Evan returned, Liam immediately asked, “Dad, how did it go?”
“No luck. They disappeared,” Evan replied.
“So what do we do now?” Liam asked.
“Of course we go back and report to your grandpa,” Evan sighed, then led everyone back toward the city where Leon Yang and the others were waiting.
In the city, Leon Yang and the others were getting anxious—Liam had been gone for a long time and still hadn’t returned.

Just as everyone was getting impatient, the door opened and Evan and the others returned.
“Second brother! Dad!” the woman cried excitedly, and the man smiled as well.
Seeing the two safe and sound, the Yang clan leader was overjoyed. “Good, good, as long as you’re all right.”
“Liam, what exactly happened?” Leon Yang looked at Liam, while Evan pretended not to know anything and stood aside. Seeing Evan act as if nothing had happened, Liam said gloomily, “Grandpa, I heard it was your big brother who destroyed the Yang family.”
“What?” Leon Yang was shocked and looked toward his third brother and little sister.
The two nodded. The Yang clan leader was furious when he heard this. “Beast! How could he do such a thing?”
“Dad, don’t be angry. He’s lost all humanity—he’s not one of us anymore,” the woman said.
“Sigh, it’s all my fault for being too softhearted. Now look—the Yang family is gone. I want to kill them! Where are they?” the clan leader fumed.
“Their bodies are destroyed, but their souls—” the woman glanced at Evan. Leon Yang noticed and asked, “Evan, what happened?”
“Their bodies are gone, but their souls escaped. And their souls are really strange, like they’d cultivated something. What’s even scarier is, they’re with a group of people I don’t know—very scary people.” Evan used the word ‘scary’ twice, showing just how serious this was.
“The Immortal Realm isn’t that big. Are there really beings stronger than Gods here?” Leon Yang asked, puzzled.
“I don’t know, but I can guess. Maybe—it’s just that we don’t know where they are,” Evan said.
Hearing Evan say this, Leon Yang and the others exchanged doubtful looks. Whoever even Evan feared—who could it possibly be?
Seeing everyone’s expressions, Evan laughed, “All right, it’s fine. Don’t look at me like that.”
Everyone turned to the clan leader. With the Yang family destroyed, all they could do was wait to see what he decided.
The clan leader sighed, “Forget it. With things as they are, rebuilding isn’t possible anymore.”
Leon Yang knew his father said this, but as the clan leader of this generation, having lost the Yang family, he must feel terrible inside.
So Leon Yang turned to Evan. “Evan, I know you’re incredibly powerful. Can you help us out?”
Evan looked at Leon Yang. “What kind of help?”
“You should be able to create space, right? Make a dimension for us—just for the Yang family.” Leon Yang smiled.
“A dimension?” Evan was surprised. He’d thought about it before, but managing it sounded boring. Now, seeing everyone’s eager faces, he figured he could let them handle it—and it would also let him test his ability to create space.
So Evan said, “All right then.”
Hearing this, the clan leader’s face lit up with a big smile—he was clearly delighted.
Evan said to everyone, “I’ll go into seclusion for a bit. You all get things ready—like daily necessities, or gather your old subordinates.”
“No problem,” the clan leader replied with a smile.
The clan leader then led everyone off to gather their scattered old subordinates, while Evan found a quiet place and entered a treasure to begin his seclusion.
Outside, Liam asked Brocade, “Do you think my dad can create a space bigger than the Immortal Realm?”
“What, you doubt your dad’s abilities?” Brocade grinned.
Liam shook his head. “Of course not. I’m just curious about dimensions. Lots of them have spatial rifts and exits to the Chaos Realm. There’s so much stuff—making it all at once seems really hard for one person.”
“Don’t worry about it. Your dad will handle it.” Brocade laughed.
Liam shrugged. “Fine, I’ll take my lady out for a stroll. You have fun on your own.”
“You rascal,” Brocade muttered helplessly as Liam walked off. After Liam left, Brocade mumbled, “Guess I should go check out that place too.”
