Right now, Evan Chu was just finishing his last move and had no time to attack again. Even if he tried to use Shifting Position, his strength would fall short. The only thing he could do was block this domineering sword strike with the Frostbane Sword.
At that moment, Lily Tang had just cut down a Sea Dragon Academy student. When she turned and saw Evan Chu exposed before the incoming attack, her heart nearly leapt out of her chest in terror. He was completely on the back foot—a perilous situation for Evan. But she was too far away to help, forced to watch the disaster unfold, powerless.
"Careful, Evan!" Lily Tang cried out anxiously, her voice full of helplessness.
Gus Bullard, Rhea Yang, and the others also heard Lily's shout and turned to look toward Evan Chu, their hearts filled with anxiety but powerless to help.
But at that moment, Evan Chu did something that stunned everyone. Instead of using the Frostbane Sword to block, he charged straight at his opponent, choosing to take the full force of the attack with his own body.
The Sea Dragon Academy swordsman saw Evan’s reckless charge and couldn’t help but sneer—was this kid insane, trying to block his sword with nothing but flesh and bone? He gripped his blade tighter, certain he was about to watch Evan throw his life away.
Evan Chu wasn’t reckless—he had his reasons. His Starforge Body at the second layer couldn’t fully shrug off a fourth-layer Earth Martial Realm expert’s strike, but it was tough enough that he wouldn’t be crippled. At worst, he’d take some nasty flesh wounds, nothing life-threatening.
He moved so fast that his body collided with the opponent’s sword qi in an instant. The sword energy struck him head-on, shredding his clothes and leaving dozens of bone-deep wounds across his flesh, blood pouring out nonstop.
But Evan Chu seemed unfazed by the wounds. Riding the momentum, he powered through to his opponent, raised his fist, and smashed it hard into the other’s chest.
That punch was packed with Chaos Qi. It instantly snapped several of his opponent’s ribs and severely damaged his internal organs, sending him flying five meters away.
The young man never imagined Evan Chu could survive his martial technique, much less fight back and seriously injure him.
He struggled to his feet, coughing up blood and staring at Evan Chu in disbelief. "You... how are you not dead?"
Evan Chu was a walking bloodstain, his wounds knitting together even as fresh blood streamed down. He shot the youth a cold, mocking smile: "You thought you could kill me? Maybe if you’d reached fifth-layer Earth Martial Realm, you’d have a shot. But with just fourth-layer strength, you’re the one who’s dead meat."
Evan Chu was about to throw another punch and finish him off when Luna, the Sword Spirit, spoke in his mind.
"Hold off for now, Evan. You still haven’t gotten the information you need."
Evan Chu paused, then quickly caught on. "Wait, Luna, you have a way to find out?"
"Obviously! Why else would I tell you to spare this loser’s life?" Luna snapped, so blunt that Evan almost coughed up blood from sheer frustration.
That damned girl actually had a way to learn the exact number of Sea Dragon Academy Honors Class students who entered the ordinary-class battlefield, but she let Evan rack his brains and get himself injured over it. He was frustrated, but didn’t dare argue.
After a moment, Evan finally asked, "So what's your method?" He was genuinely curious about Luna’s approach.
"Knock him out first. Settle the rest of the enemies before we talk. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t bother with all this. You owe me for this later." Luna grumbled, clearly unhappy about the price she’d have to pay to extract the info from the youth.
Evan Chu didn’t waste words. He instantly used Shifting Position, appearing behind his opponent and chopping down on the youth’s neck, knocking him to the ground.
If the youth hadn’t been so badly injured, Evan Chu might not have managed to knock him out. The strength had to be just right—not too light, or it wouldn’t work; not too heavy, or he might die.
Only now did the Sea Dragon Academy students truly panic. All the Honors Class elites had been slaughtered by this blood-soaked youth, whose terrifying strength made retreat tempting for many.
"Think you can run? Not a chance—wipe them all out!" Evan Chu dove back into the melee, his blood-soaked figure looking downright demonic.
Rhea Yang was nearby and rushed over, asking, "Evan, your wounds?"
"These are just flesh wounds. You worried about me?" Evan Chu laughed, casually slashing down another enemy.
None of the Sea Dragon Academy students wanted to face Evan Chu head-on. They kept a close eye on him, dodging away if he got too close—even if it meant fighting three or four Heavenly Dragon Academy students at once, anything was better than facing this killing god.
Rhea Yang’s heart clenched at the sight of Evan’s body, carved with dozens of gory, bone-deep wounds. Yet the bleeding had stopped, and the gashes were slowly closing up—like someone who’d spent two days soaking in healing salve, even if the recovery was far from perfect.
How the hell was his self-healing so freakish, and his defense so absurd? He actually dared to block martial techniques with his bare flesh—only a monster like him would pull that off! Rhea Yang marveled inwardly, her eyes brimming with reluctant admiration.
"As if I’d ever worry about you! Who do you think you are—just a few scratches and you expect me to care? Are you even a real man?" Rhea Yang shot back, her words sharp but her heart conflicted.
Evan Chu always loved making her look bad in front of everyone, so getting a little payback with words felt pretty good to Rhea Yang.
"You’ll find out if I’m a real man soon enough. But first, I need to deal with the rest of these clowns—I’ve got a bad feeling Roxanne might be in trouble." With that, Evan vanished toward the largest cluster of Sea Dragon Academy students, leaving only a blurred afterimage behind.
He left behind a fading afterimage, leaving Rhea Yang feeling sour and unwilling. "You’ll know how tough I am soon enough," she thought to herself.
She pictured Evan Chu being paralyzed by her Fragrant Tendon-Softening Powder, kneeling before her and shouting, "Rhea Yang, I was wrong!" while she ignored him.
"Dear Rhea, I was wrong! I’ll never dare again!" Evan Chu continued to beg in her imagination.
Just as Rhea Yang was about to forgive him in her mind, Lily Tang’s voice rang out: "Rhea, watch out!"
Rhea Yang’s reflexes were sharp—she dodged instantly at Lily’s shout. A longsword wreathed in stellar force sliced past where she’d just been, missing by mere inches.
Lily Tang appeared in front of Rhea Yang and scolded, "Why are you spacing out now? That’s way too dangerous! Did Evan say something to distract you?"
"No, you’re overthinking. Let’s just finish off these guys!" Rhea Yang snapped back, unwilling to admit she’d been daydreaming. She gripped her sword tight and charged the attacker.
