Taming the Mutant Bull

1/11/2026

Under Ian Song's questioning, Leo Liao hung his head in shame. "At first, everything was going smoothly. After we wiped out the zombies in the village, we managed to collect almost twenty thousand jin of grain and several thousand jin of vegetables. But out of nowhere, more than a dozen mutant dogs burst in!"

"Mutant dogs?" Ian Song looked genuinely surprised. "Are you sure they weren't zombie dogs?"

Leo Liao shook his head firmly. "These dogs were huge, about the size of calves, but I'm certain they were just village mutts. Plus, their bodies weren't rotting at all, so they had to be mutant dogs!"

Hearing this, Ian Song fell into deep thought.

If even village mutts could mutate, does that mean other animals might mutate too?

If the world ends up crawling with mutant creatures, humanity's situation will go from bad to worse.

"So what happened after that?" Ian Song pressed on.

Leo continued, "At first, none of us took those mutant dogs seriously. I mean, we had two hundred people, and plenty of guns! But it turned out those dogs were insanely fast, and they never tried to fight us head-on. Before we knew it, three guys got dragged off and killed!

With no other option, we started shooting at them, but the gunfire woke up a mutant bull in the village.

This mutant bull's hide was so thick that bullets couldn't even get through. After a few charges, our formation broke apart, and those damn mutant dogs swooped in for more sneak attacks. In the chaos, we had to abandon the grain and vegetables and fight our way out. Fourteen brothers died before we finally escaped that village."

"Alright, I get it," Ian Song nodded, saying nothing more.

"President, it was all my fault for being careless and losing so many men. Please punish me!" Leo Liao suddenly dropped to his knees in front of Ian Song.

"Will punishing you do any good? Can punishment bring those fourteen lives back?" Ian Song replied coldly.

Leo Liao's shame deepened.

"Just remember—never let your guard down, no matter what. This is the apocalypse, and danger is everywhere!"

"Yes, President, I've got it. I swear I won't make the same mistake again!" Leo Liao said, his face full of determination.

"Alright, get out of here and think about what you've done!" Ian Song waved Leo Liao away, then turned to Jason Long. "What do you think about the strength of those mutant dogs and that mutant bull?"

Jason Long thought for a moment. "Those mutant dogs were about as strong as me, but way faster. I could probably handle one if I had to. As for that mutant bull—it's tough. Even a martial artist at Dan Strength would have a hard time with it!"

"Alright, I understand. Go get some rest."

After sending Jason Long away, Ian Song suddenly thought of something. If mutant animals had started appearing, could mutant humans be next?
