Evan Yang and Lydia Quinn bid farewell to Iris Hayes. Now, the two of them are flying through the air.
"How did you break it?" Lydia still doesn’t understand how Evan managed it.
Evan smiled. "I used a special treasure to break it apart."
"Then your treasure must be really powerful. No one’s ever managed to break his body before—and with Drakehorn’s head sealed, everything dragged on until today." Lydia said.
"How many years has Drakehorn been here? What makes you all so afraid of him?" Evan asked curiously.
"Drakehorn has been in this land for many years. He always thought he could become a dragon, but he’s vicious—and his own body isn’t suited to becoming a true dragon. Still, his strength is terrifying." Lydia replied.
After fighting Drakehorn, Evan realized just how tough he was. Drakehorn’s devouring ability was innate—if Evan hadn’t had a unique body, he would’ve been destroyed inside that head, body and soul wiped out.
Even so, while stuck in Drakehorn’s head, Evan kept entering the Strange Spiral Shell to avoid interference.
Seeing Evan deep in thought, Lydia smiled. "Never expected Mad Elder would send you."
"I just came to deliver a message, but I never thought I’d find you in such a situation." Evan replied.
"If it weren’t for you, I don’t know when I would’ve gotten out. This time, it’s all thanks to you. No matter what, you not only saved me, you helped me fulfill my wish." Lydia said.
After exchanging a few words, Evan quickly changed the subject. "What’s the deal with Heavenfall Lake?"
"Heavenfall Lake is a mysterious place. Like the Immortal Sovereign said, there are lots of man-eating fish in there—but these aren’t normal fish. Most have taken on human form and are insanely powerful. They’re probably the toughest beasts below Drakehorn." Lydia explained.
"Didn’t expect a place like that. Now I really want to see if it’s as terrifying as everyone says." Evan said.
Lydia laughed. "Everyone’s scared of going there, but you’re actually excited?"
"Are you scared?" Evan asked. "Normally, I wouldn’t dare go, but now I have to leave no matter what. I’ll go, even if it’s dangerous," Lydia replied.
Evan saw determination in her eyes. Thinking of Mad Elder’s request, he’d already decided—no matter what, he’d get her out.
Just like that, the two soon arrived at Heavenfall Lake. The lake was massive—nothing but water as far as the eye could see. Not a single rock on the surface, and the water was perfectly still. You’d never guess what dangerous creatures lurked below.
But soon, the danger showed itself. Evan and Lydia stopped near the shore, just in time to see a beast approach the water—probably unaware of the risk. Suddenly, a long whisker stretched up from under the surface and wrapped around the beast, dragging it down. The lake returned to silence.
"That was one of the underwater creatures that hasn’t taken human form yet, but it’s still really dangerous." Lydia explained to Evan.
"I’ll send my clone down to scout." Evan said.
"Clone?" Lydia didn’t know Evan could make clones, so she looked at him suspiciously.
Evan split off a clone. The clone walked out, smiled at Lydia, and headed straight for the lake, while Evan’s real body and Lydia stayed on shore.
Once Evan’s clone entered the water, it was pitch black—even with night vision, he could only see a few meters ahead. But the fish were different; they could sense Evan’s presence through the water’s vibrations.
So as soon as Evan’s clone went down, all sorts of dangerous fish started closing in.
At first, it was easy to deal with them. But the deeper he went, the scarier it got—just sending a clone wasn’t enough anymore. Evan would have to go down himself.
Evan turned to Lydia. "Looks like I’ll have to go myself. You should enter my space."
"What happened to the clone?" Lydia asked curiously.
"The clone ran into trouble—some strong underwater creatures blocked the way," Evan said.
Lydia nodded and entered Evan’s artifact, while Evan headed underwater. The creatures near the surface were no problem for Evan’s real body—he dealt with them easily and soon caught up with his clone.
He saw his clone wrapped up by a massive octopus. Each tentacle was long and powerful—and even worse, sharp blood-sucking tubes grew from every tentacle. The clone was trapped, several tubes already piercing his body and draining his blood.
Evan’s real body rushed forward and snapped off a tentacle.
The octopus stared at Evan in shock and anger, furious that he’d broken its tentacle. It gathered dozens of tentacles and tried to wrap Evan up, but before it could get close, Evan froze it in the water. Only its head remained unfrozen, staring at Evan in terror.
"You can talk, right?" Evan figured the octopus was strong enough—maybe it couldn’t shape-shift, but it could probably speak.
Sure enough, the octopus said, "Who are you? Why did you do this to me?"
"I’m just passing through. If anything, you attacked me first," Evan said, thinking of what happened to his clone.
"You…" The octopus was speechless. It had thought Evan was just food, but now it had lost all feeling in its frozen tentacles—almost like they weren’t even part of its body anymore.
"I won’t make things hard for you. Just tell me—how do I find the crack under Heavenfall Lake?" Evan asked.
"The crack under Heavenfall Lake? I don’t know what you’re talking about," the octopus replied, confused.
"You really don’t know?" Evan asked, suspicious.
"Of course I don’t know. Heavenfall Lake is huge, and the water’s so deep—down below is the territory of old monsters. I’ve never been there, so how could I know? Just let me go," the octopus said.
"You mean you’ve never gone down there?" Evan asked, suspicious.
"That’s right," the octopus replied.
(End of chapter message, skip translation as it is irrelevant to the novel.)
"I hope you’re not lying. Go on," Evan said, dissolving the ice back into water.
Seeing Evan’s incredible powers, the octopus didn’t hesitate—it slunk away, defeated.
Watching the octopus leave, Evan muttered, "Looks like I’ll have to go down myself."
After muttering, Evan flashed downward, hiding his presence so the fish beasts wouldn’t notice him. That way, he could avoid being bothered by the weaker ones.
But the octopus who’d just escaped wasn’t satisfied. He hurried back to his lair and summoned a shrimp general. The shrimp general had half-transformed into human form and asked, "Your Majesty, what’s the matter?"
"Someone just entered the waters. Spread the word—there’s a powerful intruder who wants to wipe out all the strong underwater creatures," the octopus said.
The shrimp general was shocked by the news—not sure if it was true, but since his king said so, he hurried to spread the word.
Soon, the rumor spread through the nearby waters. Almost every fish beast in Heavenfall Lake heard it—some defiant ones headed toward Evan, while the timid ones hid, terrified of meeting such a strange intruder.
Evan had no idea that so many fish beasts were already converging on his location. He was still underwater, using close-range observation to study the path ahead.
Just then, a jellyfish appeared before Evan. This jellyfish had four eyes—strange indeed. All four eyes stared at Evan and said, "Are you the one who thinks he can sweep through the waters?"
"And who are you?" Evan was curious about how the jellyfish showed up, but judging from its tone, it was clearly here for him.
"I am the undefeated Jellyfish General, under the nine kings of the water realms," the jellyfish declared proudly.
"Oh? So you know a lot about the underwater world?" Evan asked.
"Of course! I’ve been through ninety percent of Heavenfall Lake," the jellyfish boasted.
"Good, then tell me—where’s the spatial crack?" Evan said.
The jellyfish froze, its expression turning ugly. "Kid, you really think you’re invincible? Let me show you what I can do!" With that, it opened its mouth and spat out thousands of tiny jellyfish.
Not only that, each tiny jellyfish carried electricity. They formed a giant electric net, trapping Evan inside. Under the Jellyfish General’s control, the net slowly tightened—clearly trying to electrocute Evan to death.
Evan realized the electric net was powerful—even before it touched him, he could feel intense numbness. If he got any closer, he might be completely paralyzed. But Evan knew his body was different; the electricity quickly entered him and was absorbed instead.
The jellyfish had no idea and thought Evan was doomed. The net shrank, wrapping Evan up completely. The Jellyfish General laughed, "Electrocuted! Let’s see if you can keep acting tough now."
"This kind of electric net might work on normal people, but it’s useless against me," Evan said.
"Don’t get cocky, kid. That was just an appetizer—now the real fun begins." The Jellyfish General sneered, releasing electricity from its tentacles. The power surged through the net, increasing a thousandfold. The force was immense.
Evan felt a wave of numbness, but quickly adapted and returned to normal. The Jellyfish General thought Evan was paralyzed and unable to move, so he sneered, "How’s that? Feels good, right? With that thousandfold boost, you shouldn’t be able to move at all."
"Is that so? Not necessarily. If that’s all you’ve got, you’ve lost," Evan said.
"What? You can still talk? Looks like the electricity isn’t enough. You’re pretty tough, but no matter—I’ve got more," the Jellyfish General said, shocked. He amped up the electricity, boosting it several times over.
With such a powerful electric charge hitting Evan, the Jellyfish General figured Evan must be paralyzed and unable to move. But the reality was very different.
