Battle Outside the City

1/19/2026

To be honest, Evan Chu himself wasn't all that confident. If he had the Frostbane Divine Sword in hand, he was sure he could kill Victor Bai, but bare-handed it was uncertain. Still, his physical defense now was leagues stronger than before.

As his cultivation rose, the heaven-defying defense of the eighth-layer Starforge Body fully manifested. Add to that the endless pressure he'd endured day and night in Mine Tunnel No. 19, and his body had already reached its peak. Victor Bai was the perfect target to test it.

Victor Bai truly deserved his reputation as a late-stage God-Lord powerhouse. That 'powerhouse' label only barely applied to Evan at the moment, since Victor's cultivation was much higher. Now, Victor blurred into motion and slashed at Evan, sword-qi sweeping out to cover dozens of meters, space itself violently trembling—clearly, this blow was no joke.

Lena Zhong saw Victor Bai attack Evan and was instantly alarmed. She knew Evan was freakishly strong, but he was only early-stage God-Lord, while Victor was late-stage—a huge gap.

She wanted to turn back and save Evan, but another youth's attack arrived before her. Anxious, her sword danced even faster—her God-King-level attack power exploded forth, and a sky-filling sword-net shredded the youth's assault in an instant.

The powerful sword-qi tore the youth to pieces—even his God Infant didn't have time to escape before being obliterated. Lena hadn't wanted to reveal so much of her true strength in front of Evan, but with things this dire, she had no choice.

Evan couldn't be allowed to get hurt—her mission was to protect him so he could safely reach Stormtower. The Tower Master had personally assigned her to guard him, and not even the slightest mishap was permitted. If she'd used her domain from the start, there would've been no danger; she could only blame herself for being careless.

After killing the youth, Lena realized it was too late to save Evan—Victor Bai's longsword was already at Evan's throat, sword-qi swirling all around him. Her only hope was that Evan could withstand the blow. If anything happened to him, she'd make Victor pay with his life.

As for Azure Moon City Lord Dominic Bai, she no longer cared. No matter how fearsome he was, he wouldn't dare go against Stormtower!

A trace of a smile flickered across Victor Bai's face. In his eyes, Evan was already a dead man. If his late-stage God-Lord power couldn't kill an early-stage God-Lord, that'd be beyond humiliating—but he was sure it would never happen.

Evan's left arm was already loaded with Chaos Divine Power—the Chaos Arm gave him a strength boost, far beyond even the Unicorn Arm. Now he unleashed the final strike of Demon-Breaking Fist. It might be a lower-realm Earth-grade technique, but in this moment, its power was immense.

A dazzling white light burst from Evan's fist. As he swung, the whole space trembled—the punch slammed straight into Victor Bai's longsword with a crisp crack, shattering the blade into several pieces.

Evan's fist kept going, smashing into Victor Bai's chest and sending him flying dozens of meters. If you looked closely, Victor's breastbone was completely shattered, his chest caved in, and bright red blood sprayed from his mouth into the air.

Victor's sword-qi attack also struck Evan—this was Lena's biggest worry. But it was like hitting Vajra stone: the sword-qi couldn't even scratch Evan's defenses before vanishing without a trace.

Evan floated there, completely unharmed, staring at his own fist in confusion. He hadn't expected his punch to be so powerful—and that was just Chaos Divine Power. He wondered what would happen if he borrowed stellar force instead.

At the same time, a huge question gnawed at him: why did none of these God Realm experts use star-force in battle? Was it that they couldn't, or just didn't know how? He had no one to ask, so he buried the question for now.

Lena's face changed dramatically—she couldn't process what she'd just seen. Evan's punch was so powerful that he'd sent a late-stage God-Lord flying bare-handed. She'd never dreamed such a thing was possible. And even more shocking, he was completely unharmed. All she could do was be stunned.

A white-haired elder watching from afar wore the same expression as Lena. "Such terrifying punch strength, such terrifying defense! Who is this young man, and why have I never heard of him? He only has early-stage God-Lord cultivation, yet his attack rivals an early God-King. Unbelievable!

He showed no fear facing a stronger foe, and his timing was perfect—proof of rich combat experience. Yet he's unknown in the God Realm. Such a peerless jade is truly rare. I must report to the Palace Lord. If our Shadow Divine Palace can recruit this heaven-defying talent, we'll surely gain a future God-Venerable."

Evan was completely unaware he was being watched. In a flash, he appeared beside Lena, lightly patting her shoulder and teasing, "What are you spacing out for? Did my heroic performance leave you dumbstruck and ready to throw yourself at me? Don't forget, you've still got one more guy to deal with."

Only then did Lena snap out of it. If that last youth had attacked her, she might've been seriously injured—losing focus in battle was a deadly mistake. She'd have to be more careful in the future.

She shot Evan a glare, then flashed toward the still-terrified youth and attacked. That boy had never imagined anyone would dare harm the City Lord's son. Usually so high and mighty, now he looked like a drowned dog, sprawled on the ground and unable to move.

Of course, Victor Bai wasn't dead yet—just gravely wounded. In his hand appeared a red jade pendant, which flashed with light and sent a streak of red shooting toward Azure Moon City. No doubt, it was a transmission jade.

Lena knew things were urgent. Her longsword unleashed a wave of sword-qi, quickly killing the youth, then she returned to Evan's side.

"That guy already used a transmission jade. Azure Moon City's experts will be here soon—we need to get out of here!" Lena said urgently.

"I'd love to leave, but it looks like we're already too late. A powerful divine sense has locked onto us—the situation just blew up. If you get the chance, escape first. I'll stay and hold them off. I still believe I've got a shot at slipping away from their hands," Evan said seriously.
