Breaking the Barrier to Enter

1/19/2026

Evan Chu clearly remembered what was written on that jade slip: Skyflight Terrace only opens once every three years, and the opening lasts for just three days. Any other time, if you want to get in, you have to break through the barrier yourself.

That so-called Skyflight Terrace is actually just the ascension platform inside Godfall Valley. The real Godfall Valley is insanely huge—Evan Chu has no idea how big, and even when he asked the Emerald Immortal Empress, she wasn’t sure either. According to her, Godfall Valley is at least as large as all the top powers in the Immortal Realm combined, maybe even bigger.

The place is deadly—energy storms and terrifying Immortal Beasts could jump out at you any time. Most people who go in never come back, but there are still plenty willing to risk it.

Why? Because there are tons of top-tier treasures and Immortal artifacts in there—any one of them could change your fate. If you’re lucky, you might even score a saint-grade Immortal artifact or treasure.

Those so-called invisible barriers inside Godfall Valley? To Evan Chu, they’re not invisible at all. Under his Icefire Eye, nothing can hide—he instantly spotted the formation that’s blocked countless people.

This barrier isn’t made from light element—it’s a five-element formation. Evan Chu glanced at the wall, then instantly whipped out the Frostbane Divine Sword. He unleashed Star-Cleave, sending a massive wave of sword energy crashing into the barrier.

But that strike didn’t break the barrier—it just left a few tiny cracks. Evan didn’t expect it to be this tough. A barrier this strong had to be set up by someone, not formed naturally.

“Master, you can’t break this barrier like that. If you do, it won’t recover, and if the Immortal Beasts inside Godfall Valley pour out, the Immortal Realm will be thrown into chaos. These Immortal Beasts are all insanely strong—if they get loose, the realm could be wiped out before the Immortal-Beast War even starts.” The Emerald Immortal Empress warned.

“That bad? So the Immortal Beasts in there are all at Immortal Emperor level?” Evan Chu blurted out, shocked.

“Some are strong, some are weak. The strongest can reach God Realm ascension level, but the barrier can easily keep them trapped. Plus, there are several powerful formations and barriers inside, all designed to hold those Immortal Beasts back.”

“One of the main reasons for the Immortal-Beast War is to set these Immortal Beasts free. A lot of them are primordial creatures, trapped in Godfall Valley ages ago by someone unknown. The Skyflight Terrace was built by that same powerhouse.” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

The more Evan Chu listened, the more confused he got. The Immortal Realm sure had its share of secrets. “So how am I supposed to break this barrier? Am I really supposed to wait here for three years? I remember hearing about plenty of Immortal Emperors who smashed their way in.”

“The barrier’s strength changes over time. For two months after it opens automatically, it’s super thin—any Immortal Emperor can break through. Same goes for the two months before it’s about to open.

Any other time, that barrier is solid as iron. In the whole Immortal Realm, there aren’t more than three people who could break it—and you’re one of them. But you can’t just brute-force it. You have to use your special power.” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

Evan Chu thought for a moment, then said, “So you’re telling me to use my darkness element to corrode the barrier? That’ll let me get in?”

“Exactly. Right now, that’s the only way. If you wreck the barrier the normal way, it’ll cause huge trouble for the Immortal Realm. I doubt you want to kick off the Immortal-Beast War ahead of schedule.” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

Evan Chu didn’t say another word. He instantly activated Darkshift, summoning a surge of pure darkness element and blasting it straight into the barrier.

The darkness element’s corrosive power shocked even Evan Chu—the barrier started thinning at a speed you could see with the naked eye. But the darkness burned out fast; in just a few breaths, it was gone.

Seeing results lit a fire under him. Evan Chu hit the barrier with darkness element about ten more times, finally corroding a half-meter-wide hole. A rush of pure Immortal Essence blasted out from the opening.

But the barrier was healing fast. Evan Chu didn’t want to waste a second—he dove through the hole right away, feeling like he was squeezing through a dog hole.

Not long after Evan Chu slipped through, the barrier sealed itself up again—pretty magical stuff. He didn’t bother with it anymore and headed straight into Godfall Valley.

Inside, Evan Chu immediately sensed the difference—there were tons of drifting remnant souls in the air. Some were even Immortal Emperor-level, stuck wandering Godfall Valley because they couldn’t cross the barrier.

But he had a question: if the barrier opens every three years, why don’t these remnant souls leave? Are they only able to survive inside Godfall Valley?

With a thought, he summoned the Firmament Light Mirror. He wasn’t afraid of these remnant souls, but they were still a pain—he casually wiped out a few in a blink.

“Why can’t these remnant souls leave? Emerald, do you know? They can’t talk either, no way to communicate.” Evan Chu asked the Emerald Immortal Empress.

“Those are all masterless remnant souls. There’s a soul array by the barrier entrance—you might not have noticed, but I saw it clearly. Any remnant soul that gets close to the array is wiped out, so none ever leave.” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

Back in the day, I only got out by pure luck—waited nearly a hundred thousand years for the soul array to be at its weakest before I slipped through. The array needs energy to run, and that energy comes from these remnant souls.

As for why they can’t talk, I’m not sure. Maybe these are just 'po' and not true souls. Only souls can speak—'po' can’t.” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

Hearing that, Evan Chu felt like he’d learned something new. He wandered deeper into Godfall Valley, spreading his divine sense—he couldn’t even see the edges of the place, but he did spot a massive energy fluctuation about a thousand miles off.

With a thought, he teleported straight to the source of the energy. What he found was a massive stone platform, at least a hundred meters across.

The surface was polished smooth, like it had been carefully carved—and it was all one solid piece. Evan Chu had never seen a stone this massive before, and he was genuinely shocked.

“This must be the Skyflight Terrace. No idea who built it, but whoever did must’ve been some kind of super powerhouse to haul a stone this big.” Evan Chu muttered.
