Of course, Faye Knox had no idea what Evan Chu was thinking. Right now, even though she was standing behind him, her Netherforce was already surging madly inside her body, ready to strike at the perfect moment and hit their enemies with a devastating blow.
By now, Evan Chu’s right arm was so swollen and numb it was almost painful. This was his first time using the Unicorn Arm since breaking through to the Saint Martial Realm—he honestly had no idea how powerful it’d be, but his heart was pounding with anticipation.
Not a single Ghost Clan cultivator dared approach Evan Chu and Faye Knox. Anyone who could knock the commander out of the sky—well, even an idiot knew what kind of strength that meant. Everyone kept their distance, terrified of getting caught up in the carnage, since Evan’s last strike had already killed and wounded a ton of people.
The commander and city lord exchanged a glance, then lunged straight for Evan Chu. But Evan was ready—just as they moved, the Frostbane Sword swept out with all its might.
This strike was earth-shattering. This strike could destroy worlds. This was Star-Cleave. A massive sword shadow, easily over ten meters long, materialized in front of Evan Chu. Space itself rippled and warped, as if about to tear apart, and a wave of annihilation blanketed the sky above Grimchart City.
The sword-qi shot out like a meteor, and Star-Cleave’s power made both attackers freeze in terror, stopping dead in their tracks. Their faces twisted with horror—they didn’t hesitate for a second, scrambling to dodge to the side.
But how could Evan Chu’s attack be something they could dodge so easily? The colossal sword-qi instantly swept across the entire plaza in front of him, and kept expanding. The commander was just a hair slower—under Star-Cleave, he was instantly chopped into countless fragments, which then turned to dust. All that remained was a clump of black mist—maybe blood, maybe something else.
The city lord was a little faster, but still couldn’t escape his fate. He too was sliced into pieces, following right after the commander. And it wasn’t over—Unicorn Arm-empowered Star-Cleave flattened everything for hundreds of li ahead. On the plaza, only the people standing behind Evan Chu survived; everyone else was slaughtered, their bodies erased without a trace.
The ground split open with countless bottomless chasms, some as wide as twenty or thirty meters, exposing the fiery red magma below. The survivors behind Evan Chu weren’t killed, but the violent tremors sent them crashing to the ground—some fell into the fissures, others were buried by collapsing earth.
Evan Chu and Faye Knox shot into the air instantly. Faye was so stunned she couldn’t even speak; Evan himself was in total disbelief. He hadn’t expected Star-Cleave’s power to be this insane. If a Second-Layer Venerable Martial Realm expert had been standing in front of him, maybe even they would’ve been killed.
Every building in Grimchart City was wiped out by that one strike. The houses behind Evan Chu collapsed, and everything in front was blasted to dust by the sword-qi.
"Y-You little thief, what level are you really at? You actually killed Venerable Martial experts and destroyed Grimchart City!" Faye Knox blurted out, her face frozen in shock.
"Me? Haha, I’m just at Second-Layer Saint Martial. Surprised? I’m a genius, obviously I’ve got crazy strength. Otherwise, how could I be worthy of being your man?" Evan Chu grinned.
Faye didn’t buy it for a second. To pull off something like this, you’d need to be at least a Second-Layer Venerable Martial Realm expert. A First-Layer Venerable could kill in an instant, but she’d never seen anything like this before. Maybe only her father or the strongest of the Five Netherworld Races could do it. She couldn’t help but start doubting Evan Chu’s true identity.
He’s human—could he be Zander Xiang? The thought popped up out of nowhere, sending a chill down her spine. That’d be way too terrifying. But then she thought about it and dismissed the idea; if he really was Zander Xiang, he wouldn’t have struggled so much against the Nether Viper back in the Land of the Undead.
So his strength must have skyrocketed in the Land of the Undead. Second-Layer Saint Martial? Was it because of the Netherghost Violet Orchid? All kinds of questions tangled up in her mind.
Suddenly, a monstrous cloud of black resentment-qi billowed up over Grimchart City—a wave of grievance formed from the deaths of countless Ghost Clan cultivators. If a Shade Clan powerhouse absorbed it, their strength would multiply, maybe enough to make them unbeatable in the entire Netherworld.
You couldn’t just create grievance-qi by slaughtering people—timing and conditions had to be perfect. For such a powerful cloud to form, the odds were one in ten thousand. If any Shade Clan expert could just kill tens of thousands and get this stuff, the Netherworld would’ve been theirs ages ago.
In the ruins of Grimchart City, a white-haired elder let out a thunderous roar: "Who destroyed Grimchart City? Who?!"
The fury radiating off him was colder than Mystic Ice. He shot out of the wreckage, took in the devastation, and shouted again, "Whoever did this—I’ll kill you!"
Luna, the sword spirit, spoke up: "Evan, destroy that grievance-qi now, or the consequences will be unimaginable! If a Shade Clan cultivator absorbs it, even your God-Slay might not be enough to beat them."
Evan Chu’s heart skipped a beat. He immediately asked, "How do I destroy this grievance-qi?"
"Use your fire element—burn it, and do it fast! I sense two powerful experts coming, one Ghost Clan from Grimchart City and one Shade Clan." Luna urged.
Evan remembered Luna had mentioned that some top-tier experts lived in Grimchart City’s big clans—people who didn’t care about fame or power, just endless cultivation. Now that he’d destroyed the city, they were definitely coming for payback.
He glanced at Faye Knox and said, "Faye, get out of here—go as far as you can! Don’t worry, once I’ve dealt with the grievance-qi, I’ll come find you. Two terrifying experts are coming, and I’m afraid I can’t protect you."
Faye didn’t have time to ask how Evan knew more experts were coming. She knew things were dire—if she stayed, she’d just drag him down, and they might both die right here.
She said, "Be careful! I’ll wait for you in Rakshasa City, ten thousand li away!" With that, she shot into the sky and vanished.
Evan Chu had never heard of Rakshasa City, but figured he could ask around. Without hesitation, he teleported into the sky, right up to the monstrous cloud of grievance-qi.
He saw the grievance-qi starting to solidify—turning into a proto-Shade cultivator. It was freaky as hell. Without a second thought, he blasted a massive wave of fire straight at the cloud…
