Cutting the Knot with a Sharp Blade

"Director Le, you’re just in time. Hurry up and arrest this fraud!" Jason Wang sneered, pointing at Ian Song.

"Men, arrest this fraud!"

At Victor Le’s order, two police officers pulled out their handcuffs and approached Ian Song, ready to cuff him.

"Wait a minute," Ian Song called out.

"What’s wrong? Getting scared, loser? If you kneel right now and kowtow a hundred times to me and Jason, maybe we’ll let you off!" Andy Jin laughed smugly.

"Kneel to your mom, psycho!" Ian Song shot him a cold look, then turned to Victor Le. "You’re the precinct chief?"

"That’s right, I’m Victor Le, chief of the Suncrest District precinct!" Victor replied proudly, looking at Ian Song with disdain. In his eyes, this kid was finished—he’d offended Jason Wang, the Party Secretary’s son.

Ian Song said seriously, "Director Le, don’t you think you’re being a bit reckless here? You haven’t even figured out the situation, but you’re already arresting people? And even if you do, shouldn’t you be arresting more than just me?"

Victor Le’s face darkened. He sneered, "Kid, I don’t need you telling me how to do my job. Cuff him and take him away!"

"You sure you want to do this?" Ian Song looked calmly at Victor Le.

For no apparent reason, Victor Le felt his heart skip a beat. Ian Song was just too calm. For someone who knew Jason Wang was the Party Secretary’s son to be this unfazed, there were only two possibilities: either he was a reckless idiot, or he had some serious backing.

But no matter how you looked at it, Ian Song didn’t seem like a reckless idiot. So, most likely, this kid had some serious connections.

Suddenly, Victor Le felt that Ian Song’s face looked familiar. He blurted out, “What’s your name?”

"Ian Song."

"What? You’re Ian Song!"

Victor Le exclaimed. The hijacking incident might’ve happened a while ago, but the buzz hadn’t faded yet. Wasn’t this kid the teenage hero all over the newspapers and internet—the one who saved hundreds of passengers and took down more than a dozen terrorists?

This was the teenage hero promoted by the state government. If he hauled him off to the precinct without asking questions, he could kiss his job goodbye.

Just thinking about it made cold sweat bead on his forehead.

“Jason, this is going to be tricky,” Victor Le whispered to Jason Wang.

“What? This kid’s got connections?” Jason Wang frowned, picking up on Victor Le’s shifting expression—this kid clearly wasn’t some nobody.

"Jason, don’t you read the newspapers or watch the news?" Victor Le reminded helplessly.

"Cut the crap and spit it out," Jason Wang said impatiently.

Victor Le forced a bitter smile. "Jason, this kid is the teenage hero from the hijacking incident. If we take him in, it’ll cause a huge uproar. Even Secretary Wang might not be able to cover it up—he’s the state-promoted hero!"

Although Jason Wang spent his days partying and rarely read the news, he still knew about the hijacking incident. He understood that until the fuss died down, he couldn’t touch Ian Song—otherwise, he’d be slapping the state government in the face and making an enemy of them.

His father, Wang Kui, might be Riverstone City’s Party Secretary, but even he couldn’t cover the sky with one hand. Plus, that guy named Xiang had been eyeing his dad’s position for a while—if Jason really had Ian Song arrested and Xiang got wind of it, his dad’s job could be at risk.

Sure, he was living large and everyone sucked up to him now, but he wasn’t stupid—everything he had came from his dad. If his dad stopped being Party Secretary, his good days would be over.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat. Of course, he was still a bit unwilling, but for now he couldn’t touch Ian Song. He’d have to wait until this all blew over before slowly working him over.

So he said to Victor Le, “Director Le, let’s just drop this. Call off your men.”

Hearing Jason Wang back down, Victor Le was overjoyed. With a wave of his hand, he prepared to call off the team.

But just then, a line of luxury cars pulled up outside the dealership. Surrounded by a group of sharp-looking black-clad bodyguards, Nathan Nangong strode inside.

Why is Nathan Nangong here?

Seeing this, Jason Wang’s eyes narrowed slightly. He strode forward with a respectful smile. “Hello, Uncle Nangong, I’m Jason Wang, son of Wang Kui.”

Nathan Nangong glanced at him indifferently, then walked right past him and approached Ian Song. “Mr. Song, are you all right?” he asked with concern.

Boom!

Hearing Nathan Nangong call Ian Song “Mr. Song” and use the respectful '您,' Victor Le’s mind exploded. If Wang Kui was the top official in Riverstone City, then the Nangong Family was the undisputed king of the city’s officialdom, business, and underworld.

Now, Nathan Nangong was actually being so polite to Ian Song. If Victor had really put handcuffs on Ian earlier, he couldn’t even imagine the consequences.

As for Jason Wang, he was dumbfounded.

How did Ian Song get involved with the Nangong Family?

Meanwhile, Andy Jin was utterly stunned. He’d been in Riverstone City for a while and naturally recognized Nathan Nangong as the local overlord, the “earth emperor.”

His Baedai Motors Group was strong, but its influence was limited to East Korea.

Besides, Baedai Motors Group was still run by his father, and Andy Jin himself didn’t have much real power. So he and Nathan Nangong weren’t even on the same level.

Thinking this, he was already feeling like backing down, and regretted not fully investigating Ian Song’s situation before making a move.

If Nathan Nangong deliberately targeted Baedai Motors Group’s interests in the Yanhuang Republic, Andy Jin could become the family’s scapegoat. Even as the only son, his uncles wouldn’t let him off.

Inside Nathan Nangong’s car.

Nathan Nangong asked Ian Song with utmost respect, “Young Master Song, do you need me to deal with Jason Wang and that East Korean punk?”

Indeed, after Nathan Nangong arrived, the whole situation turned around. Jason Wang and Andy Jin both bowed their heads and admitted fault. Ian Song didn’t press the advantage.

“No need. They’re just two insignificant nobodies.”

Ian Song waved his hand. He’d brought Nathan Nangong as backup, and knew this incident would soon reach his two brothers. So he planned to go to the Nangong estate with Nathan and, in a swift, decisive move, enslave the Grand Elder, then summon the other two brothers and turn them into puppets.

That way, the entire Nangong Family would become his.

The car drove into the Nangong estate and finally arrived at the council hall. Using telepathy, Ian Song summoned the Second and Third Elders, issued orders to Nathan Nangong, and had him call the Grand Elder over.
