Ethan Yi was finally helped to his feet by two teammates. But as soon as Evan Lin approached, Ethan's expression changed.
"Evan Lin!"
Ethan Yi ground out the words through gritted teeth, his eyes fixed on Evan with nothing but hatred.
"Looks like the last lesson I gave you wasn't enough. Just now you tried to kick the ball at me again? Are you brain-damaged or something?"
Evan Lin sighed, stepped forward, and stomped Ethan Yi in the chest, kicking him straight to the ground.
"Don't go too far!" one of the players shouted, his face changing.
"I'm warning you, if you keep this up, the consequences will be serious. We're from the National Team Reserves!" another player pointed at Evan's face.
Before they could finish, Evan slapped each of them, sending both crashing to the ground, groaning in pain.
The crowd watching from the stands all reacted differently. Most of the Capitalview First High students felt a wave of satisfaction, while students from other schools thought the guy beating people up on the field was just completely out of control.
Stella Huang, a reporter from the city TV station who'd come to cover the match, was running over, ready to write a special report on the incident—after all, this was a pretty nasty case of violence.
The match between the National Team Reserves and Capitalview First High's school soccer team had been hyped up for weeks in Capitalview City. Now, as the game kicked off, all the local schools and education bureau officials were watching closely—this was a big deal.
But now, out of nowhere, some outsider had jumped onto the field and beaten everyone up—right when Capitalview First High was losing. If word got out, it would be a huge blow to the school's reputation.
Just as Stella Huang reached the scene, she saw Evan Lin take a few more steps forward and plant his foot right on Ethan Yi's chest, pinning him to the ground.
"It's you?"
Stella Huang stared in shock. She'd been too far away before to recognize Evan, but now that she was up close, she suddenly realized who it was.
Evan glanced at Stella but said nothing. Meanwhile, Ethan Yi spat out several mouthfuls of blood, looking utterly miserable.
Principal Damon Deng and Director Ben Lu, having just received word, rushed over. When they saw the scene in front of them, they were stunned—and before they could get angry, they spotted Evan Lin standing on Ethan Yi.
"Move your foot, quick! Call 120, get an ambulance!" Director Ben Lu shouted at Evan.
Evan just gave him a cool look. That one glance made Ben Lu instantly realize that Evan wasn't like any other student he'd ever dealt with.
"Um, Student Lin, why don't you head back to class? We'll handle things here." Principal Damon Deng coughed, stepped forward, and gave Evan a polite nod.
He could tell that Evan Lin only responded to soft approaches, not threats. If he said anything else and pissed Evan off, the consequences could be disastrous.
"You can't just let him walk away! We're here for a real match, but your school's students can't handle losing? Lose the game and then start beating people up—what kind of logic is that?"
One of the Reserves players struggled to his feet, his face burning with pain and humiliation.
Getting beaten up in front of everyone, and then having the news spread—what a disgrace.
"If you had the guts to strike first, then don't stand here pretending to be innocent. If you don't like it, get up and prove it." Evan sneered, then kicked Ethan Yi straight at the guy who'd just spoken.
The player's face changed, but he couldn't dodge in time and ended up with Ethan Yi landing right on top of him.
After hearing Evan's words, everyone else fell silent. It really had been Ethan Yi who started the fight—if Evan hadn't grabbed someone as a shield, he would've taken that ball straight to the face.
"We'll get to the bottom of this. Student Lin, please head back for now." Principal Damon Deng thought fast, but ultimately chose to stand with his own school's student.
Evan swept his gaze over Damon Deng and Ben Lu, making both of them tense up inside.
If it were anyone else—someone who dared beat people at the last teacher-student assembly, and then do it again now on the soccer field—they'd be facing all kinds of punishments and warnings.
But under Evan Lin's gaze, Principal Damon Deng didn't dare say anything more.
As Evan walked off the field with his hands in his pockets, looking like nothing had happened, Ben Lu glanced at the people lying on the ground, his expression still ugly. "Principal, what do we do now?"
"Send them all to the hospital. And find out what really happened here," Damon Deng said, shaking his head slightly.
Every eye in the stadium was focused on the boy walking off the field.
Lynn Chen gripped the railing tightly, her face full of complicated emotions as she watched Evan leave.
Ivy Liang leaned back in her seat, frowning again and again.
"This Evan Lin... he's just way too savage."
"He stomped Ethan Yi again right in front of the principal..."
People in the stands were all talking at once. Mason He and Liam Liu both looked especially grim.
Jason Liu, seeing Evan knock everyone down, was so excited he couldn't help but cheer a few times.
"Cheer for what? Look at your deskmate—he's a total maniac!" Sharon Shen snapped, her face twisted in frustration as she yelled at Jason Liu.
"But it was Ethan Yi who started it," Jason Liu quickly defended Evan.
"Then why did your deskmate pull Luke Lu in as a shield? If someone kicked at him, what right did he have to drag Luke Lu into it?" Sharon Shen pressed, glaring at Jason Liu.
"Jason, go find that guy right now and make him apologize to our Luke! Otherwise, don't bother showing your face around Sharon Shen anymore!" A boy stepped up, blocking Jason Liu's way.
Evan had just finished beating everyone and left the field without coming over.
"Uh... that's not really fair. And honestly, I don't think Evan did anything wrong," Jason Liu muttered.
"You remember what I said! Don't come bothering Sharon Shen again!" The boy's face darkened as he jabbed his finger hard against Jason Liu's forehead.
Jason Liu frowned. "Move your hand."
His voice held a trace of barely-controlled anger.
"I'm not moving it. What, you want to hit me? Jason Liu, huh? You should take a look at yourself before chasing after students from Peiying High!" The boy shouted, and Jason Liu punched him right in the face.
