Charles Yin's Deduction

1/4/2026

After listening, Charles Yin pondered for a moment and said, "That is indeed possible. I'll have someone investigate that Grand Duke."

Charles Yin was always a man of action. He immediately summoned Alex and instructed, "Go look into any recent activity from the King Family, and gather all information about the Grand Duke who had past conflicts with Patriarch King over the past few decades."

Although Alex found it odd that his boss was suddenly interested in the King Family, as a competent special assistant to the CEO, he naturally wouldn't ask unnecessary questions.

"Understood." Alex immediately went to gather the information.

"Don't worry. With Max Mo around, Sophie Mo won't suffer any loss." Charles Yin knew Max Mo well, and said to Cecilia Gu with a smile, "Just wait and see. Max Mo will definitely take this opportunity to bite a chunk out of the King Family to compensate his own sister. From start to finish, Sophie Mo won't lose anything. The only ones at a loss will be the King Family. They've really shot themselves in the foot this time, and in the end, all the benefit will go to Sophie Mo."

Hearing Charles Yin say this, Cecilia Gu finally felt relieved.

People are all selfish, after all.

She was close to Sophie Mo, so naturally she would side with her.

As long as her good friend didn't suffer, she didn't care if others did.

By dinnertime, Alex had already delivered all the intelligence reports.

Charles Yin quickly skimmed through the documents and handed them to Cecilia Gu, smiling as he said, "Looks like Max Mo may claim he's not involved, but he actually had someone investigate the situation behind the scenes."

Cecilia Gu took the documents and patiently read through them, feeling a bit stunned. "This is just too dramatic!"

"This Grand Duke's surname is Kubo. He has two sons and two daughters. The youngest, Melanie Kubo, is his favorite, born from his most beloved mistress. Although Grand Duke Kubo didn't give this youngest daughter inheritance rights, he did leave her plenty of connections and wealth."

"Melanie has money, power, and enjoys all the pleasures of life. Who would have thought she'd end up falling for Patriarch King? According to the records, Melanie met Patriarch King when she was already in her thirties, but she fell for him at first sight and wanted to start a romance." Charles Yin said with a smile, "But it was a secret affair, because Melanie was married at the time."

Cecilia Gu's eyes widened. "That's unbelievable! At first, I thought the Grand Duke's daughter was single, which is why she couldn't forget Patriarch King!"

"Patriarch King was quite the charmer, and he happened to be single at the time. Of course he wouldn't turn down a beautiful woman throwing herself at him. So yes, they did have a romance. But it didn't last long, because Julian King's mother showed up." Charles Yin tapped his fingers on the table. "If I'm not mistaken, Julian King's mother was quite skilled herself. Otherwise, she wouldn't have become the ultimate winner. When it comes to family power struggles, our people never back down."

Cecilia Gu couldn't help but laugh. "Are you complimenting her or criticizing her?"

Charles Yin raised an eyebrow at Cecilia Gu. "Take a guess."

"I'm not guessing. So tell me, do you think Julian King's mother knew about Melanie?" Cecilia Gu asked eagerly.

"Based on my deduction, she definitely knew." Charles Yin said. "The documents don't say it outright, but judging by Mrs. King's style, she clearly stole Patriarch King away from Melanie. At that time, Melanie was madly in love with Patriarch King, so having him stolen from her left her with anger and resentment. That's only natural."

"Melanie is eccentric and extremely possessive—what she says goes. With all this happening, what do you think Melanie would do?" Charles Yin asked Cecilia Gu.

Cecilia Gu thought for a moment and said, "Confront Julian King's mother?"

Charles Yin shook his head. "You need two sides for a fight. Mrs. King didn't respond at all, so how could Melanie pick a fight?"

Cecilia Gu nodded. "Makes sense! Sophie Mo said her mother-in-law, even after living abroad for so many years, still thinks the old-fashioned way."

"Exactly. One wants to throw punches, the other won't take the bait—Melanie can only stew in her own frustration. Compared to Westerners who go straight for the knockout, our people are more subtle. Melanie met her match with Mrs. King and ended up with internal injuries. Patriarch King, meanwhile, has a soft spot for beautiful women. Seeing Melanie's aggression and his girlfriend's grievances, his heart tipped toward the gentle one. Plus, since Melanie was married, Patriarch King could have fun, but if it came to marriage, he'd choose the sweet, gentle girlfriend. Julian King's mother won without fighting." Charles Yin explained.

Cecilia Gu nodded vigorously. "Right, right, that's definitely how it went."

"After suffering such a huge loss, of course Melanie wanted revenge. But in the days that followed, she realized just how powerless she was—her punches landed on thin air. No matter what Melanie said or did, Mrs. King never responded. The new Mrs. King didn't socialize or do business, she just focused on having kids, raising them, and taking care of her husband. Melanie was left fuming!" Charles Yin laughed softly. "That's the difference between cultures."

"So after Melanie realized she couldn't get back at her rival, she set her sights on Julian King?" Cecilia Gu continued reasoning. "At first, Julian King was a playboy, so Melanie must've been pleased. But it turned out his wild ways were just a smokescreen—he turned around and married the Mo family's eldest daughter, and Melanie was frustrated again! That's why she planned all this, bringing in Dale and Zhou Lide to break up Julian King and Sophie Mo."

"It's not just that. Melanie must've learned some tricks from all those years of frustration. She planted someone beside the new Mrs. King, constantly feeding her information and getting her involved in the King Family's inheritance battle. In short, Melanie wanted to catch everyone in one net." Charles Yin finished his deduction. "She really does have the background and ability for this revenge plan. She's definitely the prime suspect!"

Cecilia Gu asked, "How likely do you think it is that Melanie is behind this?"

"About sixty percent," Charles Yin replied. "I've analyzed the other enemies of the King Family. Some have the means but not the motivation, some have the motivation but not the capability. After all, convincing Dale and Zhou Lide isn't easy. And whoever could investigate Julian King and Sophie Mo so thoroughly is no ordinary person."

Cecilia Gu clenched her fist and said, "Max Mo told Sophie Mo pretty much the same thing. Looks like Max Mo reasoned it out this way too."

"Are you feeling better now?" Charles Yin smiled at Cecilia Gu. "If you're still worried, I'm heading to Country Y for business in a few days. Why don't you come with me and check things out yourself?"

"Really?" Cecilia Gu's eyes lit up.

"Of course." Charles Yin took Cecilia Gu's hand. "Anywhere I go, you'll be right there with me."

Cecilia Gu noticed the heat in her husband's gaze and understood his hint.

Even after all these years of marriage, Cecilia Gu still blushed just like she used to. "Not tonight. I need to talk to Sophie Mo so she won't worry."

With that, Cecilia Gu grabbed the documents and hurried off to the study.

Charles Yin looked disappointed.

Sigh, what's the point of having best friends!

They're always getting in the way when he wants to be close to his wife!

Back in the study, Cecilia Gu immediately started a video call with Sophie Mo and told her all about Charles Yin's deduction.

On screen, Sophie Mo had just finished her shower and was applying skincare. She said, "My brother basically said the same thing. The two of them are really in sync!"

"If Melanie really did all this, what do you think?" Cecilia Gu asked.

"What can I think? Why should I pay for the romantic messes of the older generation?" Sophie Mo said. "Charles Yin is right. No matter what the King Family does, I'll be the one to benefit in the end. My brother would never let me get played for nothing!"

"You and Julian King haven't argued, right?" Cecilia Gu asked.

"Nope." Sophie Mo had just finished speaking when Julian King's pitiful voice came from behind her: "Honey, I want to be with you tonight."

Cecilia Gu couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright, I've shared Charles Yin's deduction with you, so that's one less thing for me to worry about. I won't disturb your evening any longer."

"Ignore him." Sophie Mo finished applying her skincare and said, "Let's keep chatting."

Julian King's voice behind her sounded even more pitiful: "Honey~"

Cecilia Gu said, "Alright, alright, Charles Yin is telling me to go rest too, so I'll stop here. Bye!"

After the video call ended, Sophie Mo finally turned to Julian King. "We're supposed to be in a cold war, so why are you sleeping in my room?"

"I told you it's all fake," Julian King leaned helplessly against the door. "I heard everything Cici just told you. I also think someone is out for revenge against the King Family. But I swear, Dale and I were just putting on a show. And you and Zhou Lide..."

"Oh? So you're allowed to play around, but I'm not?" Sophie Mo stood up and shoved Julian King out. "Until things are cleared up, you can sleep alone! I'm already angry enough at your family's mess, and you won't even let me be upset?"

"Hey, hey, hey..." Julian King was pushed out and watched the door slam shut, sighing helplessly.

What a mess this is!

Julian King lowered his gaze, hiding the cold glint in his eyes.

No matter if that old woman Melanie is the mastermind or not, Julian King won't let himself suffer for nothing!

Julian King's eyes flashed, and he turned to find Edward King.
