David Yu's Strange Dream

12/2/2025

At that moment, Shawn Young wanted to confirm his suspicions. He focused his mind and looked closely at David Yu’s face. Sure enough, between David Yu’s eyebrows, there was a faint, eerie bluish-gray aura. This strange energy was nothing like the usual five-element aura of ordinary people, nor was it the deathly black-gray mist that appears when someone’s luck runs out. Instead, it was a sinister, bluish-gray aura. According to the Codex of Ascension, ordinary people only emit the five-element aura. If someone has a different aura, there are only two reasons: either they’re not ordinary and practice secret arts, or they’re possessed by a ghost or demon. Only those possessed by supernatural beings give off the kind of bluish-gray aura David Yu has!

And it was obvious David Yu wasn’t a cultivator—otherwise, even if he lost all his money, he wouldn’t be in such a sorry state. So Shawn figured his situation must be due to possession by some kind of supernatural creature!

David Yu saw Shawn Young suddenly staring at him without saying a word. He quickly squeezed his legs together, covered his chest, and said, “Uh—kid, can you not look at me like that? What, you wanna get freaky or something?! I’m telling you, I’d rather starve than sell my ass to you!”

Shawn Young ignored David Yu’s nonsense and asked directly, “Mr. Yu, do you often dream about five little guys in red outfits carrying a sedan chair packed with gold and jewels, walking back and forth in front of you?”

David Yu’s face froze, and he blurted out, “Huh?! How—how do you know?!”

“Oh, so you do! And you’ve been having this weird dream over and over for nearly two years now, right?” Shawn Young kept asking.

“Uh—yeah, yeah! You—you—how do you know so much?! Wait—are you some kind of dream interpreter?!” David Yu stammered in shock.

“I’m not a dream interpreter. I’m talking about something else!” Shawn Young shook his head.

“Ah! Then—then what does this weird dream I keep having actually mean? Bro, can you tell me?!” David Yu asked urgently.

Just then, a pretty girl walked over, grabbed Shawn Young’s arm, and urged, “Sir, can you take me to find my father right now? I really, really want to see him as soon as possible! Please, I’ll make sure you get paid for your trouble!”

Shawn Young quickly waved her off, saying, “Oh, miss, it’s not about the money!”

Unexpectedly, the pretty girl gave him a long look, then dragged him into a corner. Blushing, she whispered, “Honestly, before I came to this crazy place to look for my dad, I’d already prepared for the worst. As long as I can find him, I’ll pay any price—I mean it! So don’t worry, if you help me find my father, besides the money, if you want me—my body—I’ll give it to you!”

“Ah!? Miss, you’ve got it all wrong, that’s not what I meant! Please—” Shawn Young hurriedly waved his hands, trying to explain.

“You can take me to a hotel, you can even have me first, then help me find my dad! I’m still a virgin! My body’s totally clean, so you can trust me!” The pretty girl clearly misunderstood Shawn Young.

“Come on, miss, you’ve got me wrong. Do I really look like that kind of guy?” Shawn Young asked, feeling a little frustrated.

The pretty girl blushed and shook her head, but whispered, “You don’t really look like it, but… don’t all guys like this sort of thing?”

Shawn Young was seriously annoyed, grabbed her hand without another word, and said to Leon Longhair, “I’m taking her to look for her dad first!”

“Oh! Got it! Got it! If you don’t feel like coming back tonight, just get a room over there! Heh—” Leon Longhair grinned mischievously.

“Damn! You’re looking at me like that too! Screw it, let’s go—” Shawn Young muttered, dragging the pretty girl toward the Harmony Inn just up the street.

David Yu quickly stopped him, looking anxious as he asked Shawn Young, “Bro, wait—don’t rush off yet, I’m not trying to mess up your plans, but can you please explain what’s going on with that weird dream of mine?”

“Uh—your situation’s pretty unique. I haven’t totally figured out what’s going on yet!” Shawn Young replied.

“Ah! So what should I do? Bro, if you know about my weird dream, you must be able to figure out the reason, right? Please, I’m begging you—help me out! Even if I die, I want to die knowing why!” David Yu pleaded desperately.

Shawn Young paused and thought for a moment, then said to David Yu, “Uh—your case is pretty complicated. It’s not something I can explain right now, and even if I did, you might not believe me. How about this: if I have time tomorrow, I’ll take a good look for you!”

“Oh! Okay, bro, I’ll just be hanging around outside New Orient Casino, so I’m easy to find! Listen, if you can help me solve this dream, I might not have anything now, but whatever you need me to do, I’ll do it! You can ask anyone around—David Yu may be down and out, but I’ve never broken a promise!” David Yu vowed earnestly.

“Alright, let’s talk tomorrow then!” Shawn Young said, dragging the pretty girl along. He didn’t really care about David Yu’s promises, but little did he know, David Yu would play a pretty important role in his future business.

Soon, Shawn Young led the pretty girl into the Harmony Inn. At the front desk was a young woman dressed provocatively, her chest so full and round it looked ready to burst out of her top—she was definitely a flirt.
