I Shouldn't Have Asked You to Come

The deeper the love, the deeper the hate.

Maya Summers truly loved Prince Cheng in the past. That's why she couldn't help but go see him, but was she also afraid she might lose control and kill him?

Even though the engagement was broken off, she still can't let go...

Grace let out a sigh and nodded, "I understand what you're feeling, Aunt Maya. Not seeing him leaves you bitter, but seeing him, you're afraid you'll act impulsively. We've already upset the Empress Dowager, and if you do anything to Prince Cheng, she'll be even more displeased. That's why I have to stand in front of Prince Cheng, to keep you from making a mistake."

Maya Summers looked at her for a long time and said, "I never thought you could be so considerate."

"I'll take that as a compliment!"

...

The two of them went out and met Prince Cheng.

He looked terrible—haggard and grief-stricken.

Maya Summers was filled with hate and heartbreak, but kept her face expressionless as she asked, "Your Highness Prince Cheng, you wanted to see me?"

Without another word, Prince Cheng slapped Maya Summers hard across the face.

Maya Summers held her cheek, staring blankly at Prince Cheng.

"I used to think you were a kind girl, but I never imagined you'd be so vicious and jealous!" Prince Cheng yelled, pointing at Maya Summers' nose. "I must've been blind!"

Grace glanced at Prince Cheng, then at Maya Summers, her mouth slightly open in shock.

She couldn't believe someone could be this shameless.

"Me, vicious?" Maya Summers asked, enunciating each word.

"Now Diana Su is dead, and my child is gone too. Are you happy now?" Prince Cheng's face twisted with rage. "Are you satisfied?"

Maya Summers stared at him, then slowly lowered her hand from her face, straightening her back as she said, "You put a curse on me and tried to make me take the Celestial Essence Pill so I'd be infertile, just so I could help you and Diana Su raise your child. Now, I've finally broken free from you, and the one who tried to harm me is dead. Of course I'm happy. Of course I'm satisfied!"

With that, she flashed Prince Cheng a bright, dignified smile—radiant as the moon in the sky. "What? Is there a problem?"

Prince Cheng's face froze, then he exploded in anger. "You're talking nonsense!"

Maya Summers smiled, then turned to Grace and said, "Grace, I shouldn't have brought you here."

Grace: "Huh?"

"Letting you, a junior, see that your aunt once had such terrible taste—falling for a scumbag like him—is just too embarrassing!"

Grace: "Oh!"

"Let's go!" Maya Summers grabbed her and started to leave.

"Maya Summers!"

"Your Highness Prince Cheng, we're not that close. From now on, please address me as 'Princess Maya Summers!'" Maya said without looking back.

"You'll pay for what you've done!" Prince Cheng's voice came from behind, seething with anger.

Maya Summers paused for a moment, but didn't respond.

Prince Cheng is the emperor's own brother, the Empress Dowager's son. Looks like we've gained a powerful enemy.

Grace glanced at Maya Summers, then suddenly turned and called out, "Your Highness Prince Cheng!"

Prince Cheng looked at her with a dark, brooding gaze.

"You're probably wondering how my aunt figured out the truth, aren't you?" Grace asked.

Prince Cheng didn't answer, but his eyes gave him away—he definitely wanted to know.

"It was me," Grace said. "My aunt had a curse on her—I found it. I was the one who got someone to help remove it, and I was the one who took her to eavesdrop on your rooftop. All of it was me."

Her aunt's cultivation wasn't as strong as Prince Cheng's, so it was better to redirect his hatred onto herself.
