Lucky Drinks Wine
"What? You want a favor too!?" Shane Shen was witnessing Lily Evans's shrewdness for the first time, secretly marveling at how this young lady really knew how to do business!
"Of course I do." Lily Evans waved her hand with a smile. "This isn't anything difficult for you two. In two months, once Phoenix Academy opens, I'll be opening a Vegetarian Bistro at Tenmile Hill. All I ask is that you gentlemen do me a small favor—just mention my bistro to your friends when you get back today. That's all!"
Leonard Li and Shane Shen understood now—she wanted them to help promote her bistro before its grand opening!
"Haha, I thought it was something big. That's a piece of cake!" Leonard Li chuckled, patting his chest.
Shane Shen winked at Leonard Li and said, "Mrs. Lily, honestly, even if you hadn't asked, Leonard would do it anyway. You have no idea—he's always bragging to our crowd about how amazing your private dishes are. Word's gotten all the way to the capital that the best eats at Fragrant Pavilion are the ones Leonard Li recommends. Now that he's tasted your magical vegetarian fare today, trust me, he won't stop talking about it for at least three months!"
Lily Evans burst out laughing and cupped her hands to Leonard Li: "Thank you, Mr. Leonard, for helping spread the word! When my Vegetarian Bistro opens, you two will get premium memberships—discounts every meal!"
With two such famous young nobles helping to promote, Lily Evans would have a much easier time building her reputation than if she did it alone. After all, everyone in the noble circles knew Leonard Li's gourmet tastes—if he said something was good, plenty of people would flock to try it.
The table was full of delicious vegetarian dishes, and everyone ate happily. Leonard Li mentioned that the trade route was now open, and as soon as Lily Evans's mushrooms matured in bulk, they could start doing business.
As for mushroom transport, they would use the Old Fortune Trading caravan from Yuan Jie’s family, saving the trouble of finding a transport team.
With the business settled and everyone happy, Leonard Li and Shane Shen finally caught hold of Lucky and insisted on having a drinking contest with him.
Lily Evans was worried—what if Lucky got drunk and started acting wild? But seeing Leonard Li and Shane Shen both passed out, while Lucky looked perfectly fine, not even flushed, she relaxed.
Arthur Evans couldn't help but give a thumbs up. "Lucky really can hold his liquor! Next time I negotiate business, I'll bring you along—just drink everyone under the table, and the deal is as good as done!"
Lucky's eyes sparkled. "Wife, from now on, whenever we do business, I'll help with the drinking!"
But Lily Evans felt sorry for Lucky. "Drinking too much is bad for your health. Don't drink unless you have to."
Lucky chuckled, scratching his head and patting the wine jar. "But drinking this wine feels just like drinking water—doesn't even affect me!"
Lily Evans went over and touched Lucky's face to check on him. Sure enough, he wasn't the least bit tipsy, while Leonard Li and Shane Shen were out cold, babbling drunken nonsense.
Lily Evans was amazed. Was Lucky really some kind of legendary drinker who never gets drunk? How rare!
By evening, Leonard Li and Shane Shen had sobered up a bit. They bid farewell to Lily Evans's family and got into their carriage. As soon as they left Clearwater Village, Leonard Li grabbed Shane Shen, grinning, "Shane, you kept staring at Lucky—doesn't he look familiar to you?"
Shane Shen let out a surprised sound. "How did you know I found Lucky familiar?"
Leonard Li grinned mysteriously. "Who am I? Tsk! Everyone thinks I'm just a spoiled rich kid who knows nothing, but actually, I know everything that's going on!"
Shane Shen burst out laughing, his face full of mischief. "Oh, so you even know about this!?"
"Know about what?" Leonard Li leaned close to Shane Shen. "Come on, tell me—have you seen Lucky somewhere before?"
