Ambushed

Zach also sensed something was wrong. Joe Di's words clearly implied that he had been to the place where Chi Yao secluded himself for cultivation. That area was sealed by Sean Chen's Chaos Gate. If someone from the Five Elements Universe could open it, then Sean Chen wouldn't have been foolish enough to leave the Chaos Gate in the Five Elements Universe as a suppressing force.

"Fellow Zach, I've been to the place where Chi Yao secluded himself, and it was I who broke the seal there. Otherwise, the Heaven-Earth Law of the Five Elements Universe would still be unable to recover," Joe Di said solemnly.

Zach asked in astonishment, "Brother Joe, you repaired the Heaven-Earth Law of the Five Elements Universe?"

Joe Di nodded. "Yes, and when I arrived, the people inside already had a way to enter and leave that place. I'm certain those people didn't come in from the outside..."

At this point, Joe Di abruptly paused. If outsiders couldn't enter, then where did the people inside come from? If so many people were already in the Chaos Domain when Chi Yao secluded himself, that was impossible. First, Chi Yao wouldn't be so careless; second, Sean Chen wouldn't allow anyone to exist in the place he sealed.

So many people in the Chaos Domain, consuming all kinds of chaos energy every day—how could Sean Chen hope to advance to the Fourth Step in the future?

Given all this, there was only one explanation for the people inside.

Zach was stunned as well. Whatever Joe Di realized, he had thought of it too.

"Fellow Zach, I'm heading to the Five Elements Universe now. Please keep an eye on things here for me. Whether it's cultivators from the Five Elements Universe or my friends who come here, I ask that you look after them. As for the matter of Chi Yao, don't spread it for now," Joe Di said with a respectful fist salute.

Zach let out a sigh of relief, finally recovering from his earlier shock. He returned the salute and said, "Don't worry, Brother Joe. Leave it to me."

...

Joe Di didn't hesitate at all and stepped directly into the realm transmission channel.

That chaotic region of the Five Elements Universe now had so many cultivators—each one immensely powerful. There was only one explanation: they were all raised by Chi Yao. Joe Di had heard that, during the Genesis War, many experts liked to raise cultivators in their own worlds. Even Destiny Sovereign had done this.

However, Joe Di was certain that Chi Yao's method was different from Destiny Sovereign's. The cultivators in Destiny Sovereign's world all knew where they were and were actively striving, almost as disciples of Destiny Sovereign's Dao Domain. For them, her world was a place of cultivation. But the cultivators in Chi Yao's world had no idea they were being raised by Chi Yao. Even after appearing in the Chaos Domain, they might still think it was their original world—the only difference being a richer chaos energy.

Now the question arose: according to Sean Chen and the observations of other cultivators, Chi Yao was killed—even her soul destroyed. If that's the case, Chi Yao's world should have collapsed. So where did all these living people come from?

Yet now, so many powerful cultivators had appeared in the Chaos Domain of the Five Elements Universe, and there was even a False Genesis City, with strong figures like Byron True and Quinn Yan. This meant Chi Yao hadn't been completely killed.

Not only was Chi Yao not completely killed, she had actively opened her own universe, allowing those she raised to enter this chaotic region of the Five Elements Universe.

As for Chi Yao's purpose, Joe Di still didn't know. Maybe she wanted to prevent Sean Chen from proving the Fourth Step before she recovered from her injuries. Letting the cultivators from her world consume all the chaos energy here—of course, it could be for other reasons too.

Whatever the reason, it proved Chi Yao wasn't dead.

Chi Yao not being dead wasn't surprising—Joe Di knew Zach had realized it too. The key point was, Joe Di suspected that Chi Yao's seclusion wasn't to perfect her own universe, but to break through to the true Fourth Step.

Because Joe Di came from the Five Elements Universe and cultivated the Grand Law of Rules. Chi Yao was born alongside the Five Elements Universe—even earlier, in fact. With her understanding of its Heaven-Earth Law, she wouldn't need to make a big show of seclusion just to perfect her own world. If it wasn't to perfect her world, then Chi Yao must have been trying to break through to the Fourth Step.

Chi Yao's attempt at the true Fourth Step was mistaken by others as her perfecting her own universe. This possibility was not unlikely—in fact, it was quite likely. If Joe Di ever had a chance to break through to the Fourth Step, he wouldn't let anyone know either.

Joe Di didn't care about any of that. What he cared about was that Chi Yao wasn't dead, yet she hadn't appeared in the Chaos Domain of the Five Elements Universe. So did Chi Yao actually break through to the Fourth Step? If she really had, then was Chi Yao the same Fourth Step cultivator who threatened Miles Gray in the Genesis Cradle?

Joe Di couldn't be certain of these guesses, but if he was right, then Chi Yao was his greatest enemy—the one he had to deal with.

...

As soon as the teleportation array activated, Joe Di knew something was wrong. Someone had tampered with the array.

Splat! Crack, crack...

Spatial distortion and blade energy tore through Joe Di's flesh and bones. Blood and flesh splattered in the void, his bones breaking inch by inch. Joe Di was well aware—he'd been ambushed. If his body hadn't surpassed the Sacred Body, he'd have been reduced to bone fragments.

Zach's image flashed through Joe Di's mind, but he immediately ruled Zach out as the culprit.

Zach had no idea Joe Di was leaving this way, nor did Zach consider Joe Di an opponent—he had no need for such tactics.

It looked like Zane Edge had tampered with the teleportation array before leaving—Joe Di cursed inwardly. If he'd known that bastard still had tricks left behind, he wouldn't have helped bury him after he died from being cuckolded.

The physical damage from the spatial distortion wasn't even Joe Di's biggest worry. Zane Edge must have done something to the array, because the harm wasn't just spatial tearing. Even Joe Di's Grand Law resonance began to collapse during the void transmission, and this collapse was far worse than the Rift of Annihilation. He had no idea what terrifying void he'd been sent to.

Joe Di was grateful he'd cultivated the Grand Law of Rules—his world itself was built on rules. Under such a law, no matter how much collapse occurred, he wouldn't lose his ability to protect himself.

Wait, Joe Di had seen Zane Edge's strength firsthand. There was no way Zane Edge could pull off something like this. Even if his arraycraft was strong, it couldn't alter a cosmic teleportation channel.

Joe Di couldn't think any further. All he could do was rely on his Grand Law, protecting his body and Dao foundation through the terrifying transmission.

...

Emperor Ye opened his eyes, his gaze piercing through illusions. He sensed Serena Green's departure. Yet Emperor Ye had a premonition—even with his current strength, searching for Serena Green would be a near-certain death, perhaps even a hopeless one.

When Serena Green left, she was at most at the Genesis Realm, maybe even below that—how could she make him feel such danger?

That thought barely flashed through Emperor Ye's mind before he stood up without hesitation. Dao resonance flowed around him, and he unleashed the purest Origin Dao power. A dead, desolate void channel appeared in the air; his divine sense swept through it and vanished without a trace. He had no idea where the channel led.

Emperor Ye didn't hesitate for a moment—he stepped right into the channel. Even if there was only a slim chance, he had to try and find her.

...

Joe Di had no idea how many years had passed. At first, he could still wrap his surroundings with his divine sense, but now he could barely protect his physical body from complete collapse. If his body fell apart, his Dao foundation would go with it. If both collapsed, he didn't know if he'd even reincarnate—survival would be out of the question.

The World Tree's effect here was minimal. No matter how powerful the World Tree was, its current grade was simply too low for this environment.

Joe Di felt like he'd become a spinning top—a shriveled, bloodless top whirling aimlessly through the void.

All he wished for was to stop, but the transmission rules of the cosmic domain left him completely powerless, unable to control his body at all.
