Immortal Porridge

After a quiet night, Evan Lin woke up early the next morning. He washed up quickly and stepped out of his room. The door to the room next door was still tightly shut—Lena Zhong must not be up yet.

Just as Evan was about to head downstairs, Lena’s door swung open. “Evan, I didn’t expect you to be up so early! Azure Moon City’s street breakfasts are pretty famous—want to go try them?” Lena appeared in the doorway, smiling.

Evan glanced at her—this troublemaker was wearing skin-tight clothes that showed off every curve, and in certain places she was downright dangerous. He hadn’t expected Lena to have such a knockout figure. Still, no matter what he thought, he forced himself to keep it in check.

“Do people like us still care about food? But since you say it’s good, let’s give it a shot. Can you change out of those clothes, though? If you go out like that, half the city’s going to get nosebleeds. Are you trying to start a riot?” Evan teased.

Lena shot him a glare—he’d been staring a little too boldly. “Had enough of a look? If not, come inside and I’ll strip for you. How about it?” she teased.

Evan quickly turned away, flustered. Sometimes this girl was bolder than he was, never holding back. None of his other girls ever dared tease him like this. “Just go change—I’ll wait downstairs!” he said, fleeing before he did something reckless.

Watching Evan run off in a panic, Lena laughed. “So now you know how dangerous I am? This is called playing hard to get—sooner or later, you won’t escape my grasp.”

A moment later, Lena reappeared in a pink dress with a light veil over her face. “Let’s go—it’s just up ahead. Immortal Porridge is made from divine dew and divine rice, and it’s supposed to taste incredible. We might even have to queue.”

“Is it really that legendary? People actually line up for breakfast? This is a first for me,” Evan joked.

Soon, Evan and Lena arrived outside a shop called ‘Immortal Porridge.’ The place was packed—even early in the morning, crowds had already formed a long line. Evan’s eyes widened. People actually queued up just for breakfast in the God Realm? That was wild.

You had to know—after ascending to the Immortal Realm, cultivators could go for ages without eating, and in the God Realm, even longer. People could shut themselves away for tens of thousands of years without food or drink, yet here they were, lining up for breakfast. Not even ordinary martial artists in the lower realms did that.

“Lena, is there something special about this breakfast? Otherwise, why would people queue up so early? Even the seats inside are all taken,” Evan asked her.

Lena grinned. “I thought you’d never ask. Looks like you couldn’t hold back! Of course there’s a secret—the ingredients are rare, but the real trick is that eating it is like absorbing the power of a mid-grade God Stone. It clears your mind and spirit. Now you get it, right?”

“Only an idiot wouldn’t. If this porridge is that good, I bet it costs a fortune!” Evan laughed.

Lena chuckled. “That’s where you’re wrong—it’s actually dirt cheap. Just five mid-grade Violet Cloud Crystals per bowl! That’s why so many people come here. But there’s a catch: it only works in the morning. By noon, the effect disappears, so if you want Immortal Porridge, you’ve got to get in line early.”

Evan and Lena joined the queue. They’d arrived early, but there were already more than twenty people ahead. The sheer number of people in Azure Moon City was staggering.

Just then, a clear, bell-like voice rang out behind Evan: “Miss, this is Azure Moon City’s famous Immortal Porridge shop. Everyone has to line up, no matter who they are. Even the City Lord has to queue—the rule’s been set for tens of thousands of years, and no one dares break it.”

Evan and Lena couldn’t help but glance back at the speaker—a pretty, lively girl who looked sharp as a whip. Beside her stood a woman in a purple dress, her face hidden behind a light purple veil. Clearly, she was a stunner; why else would she cover her face?

The maid looked clever—definitely her lady’s personal attendant. Maybe they were here for the Rainbow Court auction, and the veiled woman was some big-shot heiress from a major power.

Evan’s gaze lingered on the veiled woman. She looked back at him. With his Icefire Eye, Evan saw right through the veil—her beauty was on par with Princess Serena Hua and Princess Moonspirit. For a goddess-level beauty to show up at a humble breakfast shop was unreal.

“Hey, what are you staring at? Clearly you’re up to no good, gawking at my lady like that. Keep it up and I’ll gouge your eyes out!” the maid snapped at Evan.

Evan snapped back to his senses, a bit embarrassed. “Sorry, I spaced out for a moment. Didn’t expect to meet such a beautiful fairy here—my bad. Please don’t take it to heart!”

He turned away, no longer looking. Lena, meanwhile, shot back at the maid, “If you don’t want people to look, why come outside? You’re already wearing a veil—what’s the big deal?”

“You! Do you know who my lady is? How dare you talk like that!” The maid puffed up angrily, eyes wide.

“Penny, don’t be rude! Didn’t I tell you how to behave?” The woman in purple spoke softly, her voice clear and gentle.

Evan didn’t look back, but wondered who this woman really was. From her tone, she was clearly a noble daughter—cultured and well-bred.

“Yes, miss! Penny knows she was wrong!” The maid wilted instantly.

Lena didn’t press the matter. “Evan, maybe we should skip the porridge. Getting this worked up first thing in the morning is a bad omen.”

“Didn’t you say Immortal Porridge was famous? We’ve been in line so long it’s almost our turn—it’d be a waste to leave now. Let’s just stick it out,” Evan said quietly, not wanting to offend the woman in purple over nothing.

They were just strangers passing by—no need to start trouble over something so trivial. Lena glared at Evan, but dropped it.

At that moment, the woman in purple spoke up: “My maid was out of line. Let me treat you both to breakfast as an apology. Since we’ve met here, it must be fate—please, don’t refuse.”

Evan’s heart skipped a beat. Was he hearing this right? A goddess-level beauty inviting him to breakfast—was his luck with women about to take off again...?
