Uncle

Indeed, Ren Xiaoyao resembles Ren Qianqian more, so Quentin Hua and Evan Hua actually look more like father and son!

"Oh..." Evan Hua looked thoughtfully at Quentin Hua, then at the two who had been beaten beyond recognition. He muttered, "There's nothing strange about it. I'm his real uncle! Maybe he thinks I'm better than his father, so he ended up looking like me!"

Seriously? So you can actually choose who you resemble?

Roxy Shangguan gazed at this remarkable family, and in her heart, she reached a conclusion: an extraordinary family, united and strong.

Real uncle? The crowd of onlookers began to whisper among themselves. Although Charles Hua had tried his utmost to conceal the scandal at Hua Mansion, the residents of Sunflower Town had still heard rumors. Yet, intimidated by the Hua family's wealth, no one dared speak openly.

Now it seemed all of this was just a misunderstanding. Quentin Hua only resembled his uncle, but Charles Hua had mistaken him for an illegitimate child!

Suddenly, Evan Hua caught sight of the two bracelets on Roxy Shangguan's wrist. He arched his brow, looked at Quentin Hua, and asked, "Is she your daughter?"

Roxy Shangguan's forehead twitched. Why did everyone think she was Quincy's daughter? Did she really look so much like Quincy's child?

Roxy Shangguan glared at Evan Hua, her teeth clenched. "Uncle, your eyesight truly is questionable!"

"Uncle?" Evan Hua shrieked, "You actually called me uncle? I..."

Evan Hua, face twisted in mock rage, was just about to pounce on Roxy Shangguan when Ren Qianqian quickly pulled him back. She glanced at Quentin Hua and said, "Since you're his uncle, it's perfectly fine for the little girl to call you uncle." She was quick to catch on to the situation.

With her reminder, Evan Hua understood. He looked at Roxy Shangguan, nodded, and said, "No wonder you're part of the Hua Family—surpassing the old to outshine the new! Decided at such a young age!" His expression suddenly changed, and he glared at Roxy Shangguan. "Even if you’re this kid’s wife, you can’t call me ‘big uncle’—just ‘uncle’ will do! I can accept ‘uncle,’ but ‘big uncle’ makes me sound ancient. I’m still young, you know!"

He’d heard he had a half-brother, which was why he’d come searching. But after living at Hua Mansion for several months, no one in the Hua Family suited him, and his brother was a greater disappointment. Unexpectedly, this kid turned out to be quite impressive!

Fate is a mischievous hand. Evan Hua happened to meet Ren Qianqian at just that time, and left the Hua Family to pursue his beloved. Otherwise, he might have waited for Quentin Hua’s birth, and perhaps Quentin’s destiny would have been entirely different!

Quentin Hua’s eyes flashed as he asked, "You recognize these bracelets?" He hadn’t missed Evan Hua’s earlier glance.

Evan Hua nodded, "These bracelets are treasures. If my wife hadn’t insisted on a generous dowry and I hadn’t been short on money, I never would’ve sold them for so little!"

Roxy Shangguan was speechless. If that’s how it was, why not just gift the bracelets? Selling them for a loss was as good as shrinking the dowry!

As she pondered, Evan Hua spoke up again, "Little one, since fate has brought us together, let these bracelets be my keepsake for you—a token from your uncle."

He really had the nerve! Back then, he’d taken plenty of money from Raymond Lei—how could that count as a gift from him? Still, in his heart, he did feel he’d sold them far too cheaply. If he hadn’t been terrified his precious wife would change her mind and wanted to secure her quickly, he’d never have let Raymond Lei walk away with such a bargain!

Suddenly recalling something, Evan Hua hurriedly asked, "How much did you pay for these bracelets? Please tell me you weren’t swindled!"

Quentin Hua replied calmly, "It was a gift from someone else."

Evan Hua patted his chest, a relieved smile spreading across his face. "That's a relief!" Though he'd lost out before, the bracelets had found their way back to family, and not a single coin was spent—so, in a way, he'd come out ahead.

Though his reputation as a reclusive master was somewhat exaggerated, the bracelets truly were extraordinary. He hadn't deceived Raymond Lei, so it had genuinely pained him to let them go!

At last, Charles Hua regained his senses. He struggled to open eyes swollen like walnuts, gazing at Evan Hua with the longing of a man seeing his kin for the first time. In truth, they were family—though Charles had never known.

"Evan, save Wendy!"

Evan Hua shot him a cold glance, then turned to Quentin Hua, his gaze softening with curiosity. "What happened?" he asked.

Charles Hua pleaded urgently, "Wendy was taken by the Iron Sand Hall Master. Raymond Lei is nearly sixty, and he still wants to marry Wendy! Please, save her—if you wait, it’ll be too late!" For once, Charles's attitude toward Evan Hua was humble, stripped of the usual pride.

Before he could finish, Ren Qianqian delivered a swift kick, sending him rolling across the ground. She glared at Evan Hua and snapped, "Just you try to save her!"

Ren Qianqian was raised in the martial world, her passions clear and fierce. She had no fondness for the Hua Family and felt no sympathy for their plight. She refused to lift a finger for them—and wouldn’t allow Evan Hua to help, either!

Evan Hua quickly raised both hands in surrender, "I promise—I won’t save her!" He knew his beloved wife well; if the Hua Family hadn’t crossed the line, she wouldn’t hate them so much. Since they’d brought disaster on themselves, he wouldn’t interfere. He’d never liked the Hua Family—he’d left without a word. Even though he liked Quentin now, that was just Quentin; for the rest, he felt nothing.

Ren Xiaoyao kept his head bowed, lost in thought. At last, he looked up at Evan Hua and said, "Father, since Quentin—this so-called demon child—is also of Hua blood, does that mean..."

Evan Hua understood his son's intentions perfectly. He arched a brow and said, "Handle it yourself. I can't throw my weight around just because I'm an elder, can I?"

Quentin Hua seemed lost in thought but said nothing. If it wasn’t something he wanted, not even an elder could sway him.

He didn’t care, but Roxy Shangguan was clearly annoyed. She narrowed her eyes at Ren Xiaoyao and snorted, "Thinking of making a move on Quincy? Are you asking for a beating?"

Ren Xiaoyao leapt back, waving his hands frantically. The sting of that little devil’s whip was nothing to laugh at—he had no desire to experience it again. "It’s not a bad thing!" he protested quickly.
