Those Condemned Souls, trembling, their skin already cracked and blackened from the cold, screamed miserably as they ran excitedly toward the sun.
But as soon as they approached the sun, they let out the same miserable screams. The sunlight shone down on them, and instantly, their skin began to scorch.
In the midst of constant screams and back-and-forth running, these Condemned Souls could only raise their hands high, clutch their heads, and hunch over. Gradually, their skin turned a brownish-yellow, and then they began to shrink, until finally, they became the Outcast Wraiths I had seen when I first entered the Yin-Yang Realm.
These Outcast Wraiths were no longer afraid of the sun or moonlight, but had been tormented by this world of ice and fire until they were neither human nor ghost. They could only communicate through sounds, no longer capable of speech.
The vision ended. I found myself at a crossroads, and the figure before me just stared at me silently. I asked a question.
“Who are you, really?”
“Everything here is like a curse to them. Ethan Zhang, you heard my voice.”
I nodded, looking at her seriously. Her voice still carried no emotion.
“Go and challenge it, Ethan Zhang. Someday, you will have to face that great and unknown thing, and to challenge it. Even the being inside your body has foreseen this.”
I let out a confused sound, staring blankly at the figure before me. Suddenly, a whistling wind erupted, and all Six Ghost Souls surged out, lining up behind me. I glanced at them, my heart tightening.
“Why did all of you come out?”
“Possibility. Indeed, our understanding is the same.”
The Spirit Snake spoke, stepping forward. That faceless figure nodded.
“In front of that vast and unknown thing, nothing can stand against it. Only you, Ethan Zhang, possess possibility.”
I didn't ask anything, simply watched them in silence. My Six Ghost Souls wore solemn expressions, while that figure slowly raised a hand and pointed at me.
“My Imprint has been truly delivered. Ethan Zhang, one day, this passage will open for you.”
“What do you mean?”
Just as I finished speaking, I realized that figure had vanished. I was back on the empty ground; Soren Black still lay on the ground. I asked a question.
“Do any of you Six Ghost Souls know anything?”
“Alright, let's get back to playing mahjong.”
