"Natural law," Felix Xi said. "If a child isn't up to standard, they'll abandon it. Otherwise, it'll just be a burden to them."

"Huh? Is it trying to drive the little Feathered Serpent away?"

Felix Xi nodded.

The adult Feathered Serpent tried for a long time, but the little one just cried and refused to leave, looking truly pitiful.

The adult didn't hold back at all, simply stretched out a wing and smacked it away.

The little Feathered Serpent fell straight down the mountain.

It seemed like it couldn't even fly yet.

Its wings flapped wildly, rising and falling, and when it reached the depths below, it was about to crash into the rocks.

Just then, an eagle swooped by and grabbed it.

Felix Xi and Rona Yin only then realized that Grace had already dashed down to save the Feathered Serpent baby.

"Totally unnecessary," Felix Xi said coldly.

"She has a soft spot for serpent spirit beasts," Rona Yin explained.

Felix Xi fell silent.

Below, Grace used her spirit power to wrap the little Feathered Serpent. The hatchling glanced at her, then opened its mouth and bit her arm.

Luckily, it hadn’t grown any teeth yet.

Grace gave it a good toss and threw it straight into her Sanctum.

Afraid the adult Feathered Serpent would notice her, she didn’t dare linger. She flew back to her original spot and hid behind a rock.

The three of them just kept waiting there.

Waiting for the Feathered Serpents to go back into the cave.

However, after a long wait, the adult Feathered Serpent kept teaching the little one to fly, circling around the cave entrance over and over.

As the sun began to set, Rona Yin said to Grace, "I think that adult Feathered Serpent isn’t very fast. How about I go lure it away!"

"Is your eagle up to the task?" Grace asked worriedly.

"Feathered Serpents are heavy and slow flyers. I’ll definitely be able to escape—don’t worry!"

With that, Rona Yin rode her eagle over to the Feathered Serpent, circled it, gave the hatchling a quick poke, and then flew off.

The adult Feathered Serpent instantly flew into a rage and chased after her.

Grace breathed a sigh of relief and was just about to collect the Golden Ganoderma, when—unexpectedly—another Feathered Serpent crawled out of the cave!

This one was even bigger than the last, and looked like a male.

"Oh come on, there’s another one?" Grace groaned, feeling a little overwhelmed.

Felix Xi said, "I’ll lure this one away."

Felix Xi’s flying beast was about as fast as Rona Yin’s. Grace saw that the previous Feathered Serpent really wasn’t that quick, so she nodded and said, "Be careful out there."

So Felix Xi went off to lure away another one.

Grace didn’t hesitate—she landed on the platform right away and went to pick the Golden Ganoderma.

But before she could even reach the cave entrance, yet another Feathered Serpent crawled out!

And this time, three came out at once!

These three were smaller than the last two, but much bigger than the baby Feathered Serpent.

Could they be the older kids?

Seriously, this family is huge!

The three Feathered Serpents spotted her and all opened their mouths wide.

Looks like they’re about to breathe fire!

She turned and ran.

But as soon as she turned around, she found her way blocked.

Three Feathered Serpent hatchlings were blocking her path.

And there was one especially big hatchling, chasing after her flying beast.

Even though they were just hatchlings, they were as tall as a person. Blocking the stone platform like that, there was no way past.

No time to waste—Grace drew her Celestial Sword, gathered her fire spirit power, and slashed at the hatchlings.

A streak of orange fire, sharp as a blade, swept toward the hatchlings.

The three hatchlings were sent flying by her attack.

If they’d been ordinary spirit beasts, a hit like that from a Spirit Master Tier Three would have left them in pieces.
