Heaven-Pill Duo

"Such a powerful Beastmaster Flight Sword—looks like this Beastmaster Sect is no ordinary faction." Evan Yang said with a smile.

"You can still smile?" Pill-King Liam knew just how formidable this artifact was, but Evan Yang didn’t seem concerned at all, instead grinning broadly, which left him feeling frustrated.

"Relax, it’s just a few experts chasing us." Evan Yang knew the Beastmaster Flight Sword was impressive, but since there were no Spirit-Wandering experts among them, he didn’t take it to heart—he was simply curious about the sword itself.

But Pill-King Liam didn’t know Evan Yang’s true strength, nor the gap between him and these pursuers. He was simply worried, and said, "Evan, maybe you should go on ahead. If you keep dragging me along, you’ll be caught sooner or later."

"No need," Evan Yang replied with a smile.

"But if we keep going like this, we’ll definitely get caught. You’re fast enough to leave me behind, then go back to Sky Unity Sect and tell the sect master what happened," Pill-King Liam said.

"Don’t overthink it—you’ll get back to Sky Unity Sect safely," Evan Yang assured him.

Seeing Evan Yang so confident, Pill-King Liam couldn’t quite believe it, but he was still curious and kept looking at Evan.

Just as Pill-King Liam glanced at Evan Yang, the pursuers caught up, and Evan stopped flying, coming to a halt.

If anyone looked closely, they’d see that the area was all mountains, completely deserted—no cities, not even birds or beasts. Yet this was exactly where Evan Yang decided to stop.

A Beastmaster Sect disciple stepped onto the tip of his sword, grinning at Evan Yang. "Kid, your speed is pretty fast, but compared to our Beastmaster Sect's flying sword, you're way behind."

"Oh? Is that so?" Evan Yang showed no hint of panic, just calmly replied.

Seeing Evan Yang so composed, Seth Nan sneered, "Kid, stop pretending. State your name. I'm Seth Nan—I don't kill nameless nobodies."

"Seth Nan!" Pill-King Liam was shocked. Evan Yang had no idea who Seth Nan was, so he asked suspiciously, "Seth Nan? Is that someone famous?"

Seth Nan was displeased that Evan hadn't heard of him. He boasted, "You don't know? I'm from one of Beastmaster Sect's top three beast-taming teams!"

At this moment, the woman behind Seth Nan stepped forward. "I'm Jenna Zhang."

"Jenna Zhang!" Pill-King Liam was again shocked.

"Seth Nan? Jenna Zhang? Are they supposed to be famous?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

Pill-King Liam blurted, "They're the third-ranked beast-taming team—the Heaven-Pill Duo!"

"Are they impressive?" Evan Yang asked.

Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang stood proudly atop their flying swords, smiling at Evan Yang, thinking he was ignorant and didn't know their names. Pill-King Liam, however, knew, and waited for the Sky Unity Sect disciples to explain to Evan.

Pill-King Liam began explaining to Evan Yang.

He explained, "When these two work together, and add their spirit beasts, their strength can rival early Spirit-Wandering experts."

The phrase 'early Spirit-Wandering expert' immediately caught Evan Yang's attention.

"Able to rival early Spirit-Wandering? Are they really that strong?" Evan Yang asked curiously, deliberately raising his voice.

Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang seemed to enjoy the attention, especially seeing Pill-King Liam's fear. Both were excited.

Originally, the pair were sent secretly to prevent any leaks. They thought they wouldn't need to act, but after Evan Yang defeated a Nascent Soul expert, they realized his strength and quickly locked onto him with their Beastmaster flying swords. They tracked him until he entered the city, where Evan used a formation to block their pursuit. Only when he left the city again did they spot him.

Now, the two smiled at Evan Yang as if they'd caught their prey.

"Now you know, right? You'd better cripple your own cultivation quietly, or else we'll use your primordial spirit to feed our spirit beasts," Seth Nan laughed.

"Feed spirit beasts with primordial spirits?" Evan Yang had never heard of such a vicious thing, but he just sneered, "You two can rival early Spirit-Wandering experts? I'd like to see it—if you're up for it."

“Watch? Kid, you’d better not watch carelessly. If something happens, we’re not responsible,” Jenna Zhang said with a smile.

“You really won’t make a move?” Evan asked with a smile.

“You’re not qualified,” Seth Nan sneered.

“Not qualified? What counts as qualified?” Evan hadn’t expected these two to be so arrogant.

“We only challenge famous people on the continent or early Spirit-Wandering experts. As for you? Hmph, not worth our time,” Seth Nan sneered.

“Famous?” Evan laughed.

“Exactly. We only challenge those two types. The rest, we kill or feed to our spirit beasts,” Jenna Zhang said coldly.

“All right, then I’ll tell you my name. Maybe you’ll be interested,” Evan said with a smile.

“Oh? You? I’d like to see,” Seth Nan laughed.

“I’m Evan Yang. You must be familiar with me, right?” Evan revealed his identity fearlessly.

The two had been curious about who Evan was. When they heard his name, both were stunned.

“You’re Evan Yang?” Seth Nan asked, a little in disbelief.

Jenna Zhang was just as curious, looking at Evan. “You’re that beggar? The one the Blue Clan has been searching for everywhere?”

“I wonder if I’m famous enough,” Evan hadn’t expected his name to shock the two so much.

“Well, well. Our Beastmaster Sect has been searching for you for years. Never thought we’d run into you. No matter how fast you cultivate, so what? Today, no matter what, we’ll let the whole continent know it was us who caught Evan Yang. And about you stealing the Jade Rabbit, we’ll haul you back to the sect for punishment,” Seth Nan said, unable to hide his excitement.

Jenna Zhang was delighted too. “Didn’t expect we’d just come out for a look and end up running into you. We’re really lucky.”

Speaking of luck, it really was. Every year, Beastmaster Sect sent people to search for Evan Yang, with different teams out each time, but they never found him. This time, they’d only come to ensure the deal went smoothly, and unexpectedly found Evan appearing at just this moment.

“Looks like you’re finally ready to fight,” Evan said with a smile, seeing the two about to make a move.

“Haha, that’s right. You’re famous enough for us to challenge. Today, watch how we take you down,” Seth Nan laughed, then he and Jenna Zhang prepared to team up against Evan.

Evan moved King Li Dan aside and said, “You go first. Leave these two to me.”

“You—” King Li Dan said worriedly.

“Go on,” Evan said with a smile.

Knowing he’d only interfere with Evan’s performance, King Li Dan gritted his teeth and quickly retreated. Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang exchanged a glance, then Seth Nan said with a smile, “Let’s take Evan Yang down first. As for that Sky Unity Sect kid, you won’t get far. We’ll be right behind.”

King Li Dan hurried away, leaving Evan to face two peak Nascent Soul experts alone.

The two immediately teamed up to attack Evan with their strongest moves, wanting to finish him quickly and chase King Li Dan. But their attacks had no effect on Evan—he was even faster than them.

Evan’s Phantom Step and Soaring Sky Dance Steps gave him a huge advantage in the air, much stronger than the pair. If it was about chasing, they could use their treasures, but in combat, their treasures weren’t as nimble at close range. The two jumped off their flying swords, glared at Evan, then split up to attack him from both sides.

Both sides? Evan wasn’t afraid. He locked onto both with his divine sense—left hand against Jenna Zhang, right hand against Seth Nan.

The three fought right there, rumbling and booming. The trees and rocks around them shattered from the force of their attacks.

“I didn’t expect your strength to have grown so much after all these years,” Seth Nan said, shocked by Evan’s power.

“You flatter me,” Evan replied, defending with both hands.

“Hmph, let’s see how the two of us take you down,” Jenna Zhang said, refusing to admit defeat.

Then the pair launched different attacks at Evan, each at full power, coordinated perfectly as if they’d practiced countless times.

This was because they often fought together against a single opponent—the so-called Beastmaster Duo. Individually, they were strong, but together, their strength wasn’t just additive—it was even greater.

Against most peak Nascent Soul experts, they could subdue them quickly. But Evan was too tough—after a quarter of an hour, the two still couldn’t match him.

“Kid, what kind of monster are you?” Seth Nan was starting to feel strained, unsure if it was from spiritual energy consumption.

“Monster? Not really. Is that all you two have got?” Evan hadn’t noticed anything special besides their teamwork boosting their combat ability.

Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang were annoyed at being looked down on. Seth Nan snorted, “You’re too arrogant. If we use our spirit beasts, you won’t even have a chance to resist!”

“Oh? Then I’d like to see what spirit beasts you two have,” Evan sneered.

Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang exchanged a glance, then released a pair of spirit beasts. Evan had seen them before, but there were differences.

They were Devouring Beasts, but their aura and teeth were different this time.

The Devouring Beasts Evan saw in the Thief Sect didn’t have teeth, but these did—and they were much fiercer than the ones in Thief Sect.

These two were clearly explosive—once released, their aura was chaotic.

Both spirit beasts opened their mouths, trying to devour Evan as soon as they saw him.

“Devouring Beasts?” Evan laughed.

“You actually recognize them?” Seth Nan was curious how Evan knew about his two spirit beasts.

“Recognize? More than that. But these two—too bloodthirsty and explosive, not suitable. Careful they don’t bite you,” Evan said mockingly.

“Ridiculous! How could our beasts bite us? As for you, Evan Yang, since you know Devouring Beasts, you should know how dangerous they are,” Seth Nan sneered.

“You’ll find out soon enough,” Evan laughed.

Seth Nan and Jenna Zhang acted like they’d heard the funniest thing ever. Their beasts only bit others, never their owners—that was impossible, and they’d never seen it happen.
