Reaping What You Sow
For years, Madam Lou had been the only woman in the Marquis Weiyuan Estate. With her husband as the Marquis, and no other women by his side, Madam Lou always felt proud and held her head high among the wives of other officials. She’d often boast about how much the Marquis adored her, claiming she was his one and only.
But now, seeing those three pale figures before her, the pride and confidence Madam Lou had built over twenty years were shattered in an instant. She felt herself fall from the clouds straight into the mud. The blow was so harsh that she sat there in a daze, unable to even cry.
Meanwhile, Marquis Weiyuan was still under the influence of the medicine and feeling quite spirited. He couldn’t care less about Madam Lou, and was itching to spend time with his two newly acquired, delicate Twin Beauties.
Madam Lou sat on the ground, refusing to look at the indecent scene. Instead, her bloodshot eyes glared at Su Li outside the room, gritting her teeth in hatred. "You—you shameless, despicable wretch!"
"Tsk tsk, how am I shameless or despicable? Are you talking about drugging someone else’s husband and forcing beauties on him? Oh dear, Madam Lou, you must be confused from anger. This was your own idea, after all. As your daughter-in-law, I was only following your example. If I’m shameless, then what does that make you? Disgraceful? Getting what you deserve?" Lily Evans smiled sweetly at Madam Lou. "Madam Lou, I finally understand the thrill you felt watching me in despair. Seeing someone you dislike suffer so much is quite satisfying, isn’t it?"
"You—you wretch, wretch! Waaa!" Madam Lou watched as Marquis Weiyuan and the Twin Beauties had already crossed the line, and remembered she had bought those beauties to entrap Alexander Hayes. Now, she realized she’d brought disaster upon herself, feeling nothing but hatred and regret.
Half an hour later.
The effects of Marquis Weiyuan’s medicine finally wore off. His mind cleared, he got dressed, and walked out of the room with the Twin Beauties, looking quite pleased.
Madam Lou had cried herself dry. She sat numbly on the ground in the outer hall, her eyes unfocused and face streaked with sorrow.
When Marquis Weiyuan entered the hall, he turned and noticed Lily Evans and Alexander Hayes standing in the courtyard, gazing inside curiously.
He knew he'd been outsmarted by Lily Evans and Alexander Hayes, and a wave of anger surged within him. But as he glanced at the two delicate beauties beside him, his fury was instantly extinguished.
Even if he'd fallen into their trap, at least he'd gained two beautiful women.
Thinking it over, it didn't feel like a loss after all.
"Ahem, Madam, don't sit on the ground. Get up and talk." Marquis Weiyuan looked at Madam Lou, guilt flickering in his eyes as he reached out to help her.
Just as his hand touched Madam Lou's arm, she suddenly erupted, roaring, "Don't touch me! You disgust me!"
Embarrassed in front of his two concubines, Marquis Weiyuan's guilt turned to anger. He snorted coldly, "Lou, what's with all the shouting? Don't forget your place! So what if I have other women? You're the main wife—how can you be so jealous?"
"You!" Madam Lou stared at Marquis Weiyuan, stunned by how quickly her husband of over twenty years could turn on her. Her face flushed with rage as she pointed at the two beauties, blurting, "Get those fox spirits out of the Marquis's residence!"
The two concubines immediately put on a frightened act, shrinking behind Marquis Weiyuan, trembling with tears in their eyes. "Marquis, we're so scared. Did we serve poorly and upset Madam? Please, Marquis, don't send us away..."
