Poisoning Timeline
Quentin Lin looked at his furious father, slid off Alexander Hayes's shoulder, and stood before Dr. Rowan Lin, declaring calmly, "Dad, I did it. I saved Belle's child."
Dr. Rowan Lin had a whole stomach full of scolding ready, but Quentin Lin's brief statement caught in his throat, leaving him unable to breathe, his face turning blue as he stared at his son.
Quentin Lin's eyes were bloodshot and he looked exhausted, but his expression remained serene. He raised his head to Dr. Rowan Lin and said, "Dad, my blood transfusion method worked. Belle's baby can now cry and nurse. I've checked—the toxins in the child's body are completely gone, so there won't be further harm. I don't know how much damage was already done to the baby's intelligence, but at least for now, the child appears normal—not like a dull infant who can't even cry or nurse."
Dr. Rowan Lin stared at his son's calm face, too shocked to speak.
Dr. Rowan Lin had always prided himself on having seen all manner of storms and people, but this was the first time he had witnessed such confident, composed, and resolute eyes.
And to think, this aura was radiating from his own six-year-old son!
Alexander Hayes looked at the Lin father and son, then assured Dr. Rowan Lin, "Quentin is right. He really did cure Belle's child."
Dr. Rowan Lin snapped out of his daze and hurriedly asked, "Cured... How—how did you do it?"
Quentin Lin replied, "I used the blood transfusion method. I drew healthy blood from others and replaced all the poisoned blood in the baby."
"Blood transfusion, this... this really worked? How is that possible..." Dr. Rowan Lin suddenly felt like everything he'd learned over thirty years was crumbling before his eyes. The Lin family's medical texts clearly recorded that their ancestor's transfusion experiment had failed, stating that injecting another's blood would lead to death. Yet Quentin Lin had managed to successfully replace all the poisoned blood in a baby, shattering Dr. Rowan Lin's unwavering faith in Lin family medicine!
"Dad, now's not the time to discuss this. I need your advice on something important," Quentin Lin said seriously. "It's about Lily Evans and her unborn child."
At the mention of Lily Evans and her child, Dr. Rowan Lin forced himself out of his shock and asked, "Quentin, what do you want to ask me?"
Quentin Lin said, "Dad, my medical skills aren't as good as yours. I want to ask you, when exactly were Belle and Sister Lily poisoned?"
Dr. Rowan Lin thought back to when he checked their pulses and replied, "According to their pulse readings, both were poisoned on the same day, about two or three days ago."
"Two or three days ago..." Quentin Lin's expression grew serious, making Alexander Hayes tense up. He quickly asked, "Quentin, is there something tricky about this? Can't you use the blood exchange method to cure them? Sister Lily and her baby will be alright, won't they?"
Quentin Lin sighed and said, "Brother-in-law, I'll be honest with you. Belle's baby was only poisoned for two or three days, then the blood exchange was done right after birth, so the damage from the poison isn't too severe. Hopefully, there won't be much lasting harm. But Sister Lily still has two months until delivery, which means her baby will be poisoned for two whole months before birth. Even if we do a blood exchange as soon as the baby is born, the damage from two months of poison in the womb may be impossible to reverse..."
