Helen Jiang Makes Her Move

1/4/2026

Helen Jiang quickly glanced at the medicine on the table, her expression unchanged as she said, "Since you hate Cecilia Gu so much, why don't you drug her yourself?"

The other person smiled brightly. "Because I have to help you keep the others in check! Do you think it's that easy to drug someone in the Yin Family Hospital? Every meal Cecilia Gu eats is prepared by someone special, and every sip of water she drinks is strictly tested. I can't get close to her, but you can."

Helen Jiang replied disdainfully, "You're giving me too much credit! I've already been kicked out of the Jiang Family—what right do I have to see Cecilia Gu? I can't even get close to her, let alone drug her."

"You can't see her, but your foster mother can!" The other person chuckled, their face pale—the smile looked strangely out of place.

"What do you mean by that?" Helen Jiang grew even more wary.

"As long as you don't talk and I don't talk, who would ever know what happened here?" The man pulled a bank card from his pocket and pushed it toward Helen Jiang. "There's a million on this card—enough to buy your freedom. What? Don't you want to leave this place?"

Helen Jiang didn't hesitate anymore and snatched the bank card from him!

She wanted to leave this hellhole more than anyone!

Seeing Helen Jiang take the card, the man broke into a delighted grin. "Miss Helen Jiang, here's to our partnership!"

Helen Jiang's gaze fell on his fingers—they were calloused, clearly not the hands of someone used to luxury.

Helen Jiang gritted her teeth and reached out her hand.

No matter what, she had to escape from this damned place!

The man didn't say another word, pulled up his collar to cover his face, and left the room with his head down.

When he reached the street corner, he quickly got into a car, which started up and drove away immediately.

"Miss Yin, everything has been done as you instructed. Helen Jiang took the bait," the man said quietly.

"Good, then let's wait and see." A cold voice sounded softly. "Since Charles Yin is determined to destroy my family, he can't blame me for being ruthless."

Mrs. Jiang was instructing the household staff to prepare things—she was about to go to the hospital to visit Cecilia Gu.

Earlier that morning, Charles Yin had informed both families that Cecilia Gu was about to give birth, so the Yin and Jiang families were busy getting ready.

At that moment, Cecilia Gu was walking back and forth in the hospital, doing everything she could to make sure her delivery would go smoothly.

A crowd followed behind her—some carrying water, some with towels, some moving chairs. No matter what happened, they were ready to respond to Cecilia Gu's needs at a moment's notice.

However, after wandering around the hospital, Cici still felt no movement in her belly.

She had just finished a checkup; her cervix hadn’t dilated yet. It looked like the baby really wouldn’t come for another couple of days.

Cici looked at everyone in the hospital circling around her, feeling both amused and helpless.

“I’m really fine right now. You don’t all need to follow me like this. Just let Wendy and Mrs. Zhang come with me,” Cici waved her hand and said. “I’m staying in the hospital, so if anything happens, I’ll definitely be able to respond.”

The head nurse spoke nervously, “Mrs. Yin, please let us stay with you. You’re carrying the Yin heir—we can’t afford even the slightest mistake.”

Cici gave a helpless smile. “Alright, I’m just going to keep walking. If you want to follow, then come along.”

While Cici was walking laps around the hospital with the nurses, Grandma Evelyn Yin and Mrs. Yin were busy directing the butler to pack up everything she might need for the delivery and send it all to the hospital.

Mrs. Jiang even took out her treasured Millennium Wild Blood Ginseng, planning to deliver it to Cici herself.

Before Mrs. Jiang could head out, someone came in to report, “Madam, the eldest miss—no, Helen Jiang—is kneeling outside the door. She says she wants to see you.”

Mrs. Jiang frowned. “I won’t see her.”

The staff member hesitated, then said, "She... she says she has something to tell you. It's about Eric Jiang."

Mrs. Jiang's face darkened. "She still has the nerve to come see me?"

The staff member fell silent.

Mrs. Jiang thought for a moment, then waved her hand. "Let her in. Have her wait for me in the side hall."

"Yes, Madam." The messenger hurried away.

Mrs. Jiang hadn't wanted to see Helen Jiang at all, but when she heard Helen was kneeling at the Jiang family gate, her anger slowly faded.

Even if you raise a puppy, you develop feelings for it—let alone raising a person.

And this person had called her 'Mom' for over twenty years.

No matter how tough or ruthless Mrs. Jiang tried to be, she couldn't bring herself to never see Helen Jiang again.

But Helen Jiang's mistakes were simply too big. Mrs. Jiang would never allow her to return to the Jiang family.

Well, it’s better to see her one last time and finally put an end to this mother-daughter bond.

With her mind made up, Mrs. Jiang turned and walked toward the side hall.

As soon as Mrs. Jiang entered, she saw Helen Jiang kneeling there, completely motionless.

At this moment, all of Helen Jiang’s pride was gone; her entire aura seemed to have changed, as if she were a different person.

Mrs. Jiang looked at Helen Jiang with a sigh. If she’d been like this a month ago, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.

But now, no matter what is said, it’s too late.

Helen Jiang had already been completely expelled from the Jiang family.

She could never come back.

Hearing Mrs. Jiang’s footsteps, Helen Jiang immediately looked up.

In that instant, Helen Jiang looked at Mrs. Jiang, opened her mouth as if to call her 'Mom,' but the word stuck in her throat. Tears streamed down her face as she forced herself to say, "Mrs... Jiang..."

Mrs. Jiang’s heart ached fiercely.

The daughter she raised herself was now calling her Mrs. Jiang…

Mrs. Jiang couldn’t hold back anymore. She walked over in a few quick steps and helped Helen Jiang to her feet.

“Child, why put yourself through this?” Mrs. Jiang sighed. “Why have you come back?”

“I’m just worried about you,” Helen Jiang lowered her head. A month of living in hell had taught her to put away her pride and dignity, to watch others’ moods carefully, and to say only what they wanted to hear.

“I know I was wrong, but I’ve lost my chance to make it right. I don’t expect to return to the Jiang family—I’m just worried about you and Dad. I heard the Jiang family recently took on a big project in S City. I feel both proud and sad. I know I have no face to show myself before you, so I never had the courage to come say sorry! Today I’m leaving, going somewhere no one knows me, to start over. When I got to the station, I suddenly realized the hardest thing to let go of was you and Dad, and my brother…” Helen Jiang wiped away her tears, making herself look even more pitiful and desperate.

Mrs. Jiang’s heart softened, just as expected.

Seeing Helen Jiang so sensible, Mrs. Jiang even felt a flash of regret.

But Mrs. Jiang was not a weak or indecisive person.

Even if she regretted it for a moment, she quickly thought through the consequences for the future.

Mrs. Jiang took Helen Jiang’s hand and sat her down on the sofa, her face full of regret as if she hadn’t heard anything Helen just said. “Child, why didn’t you call home after you left?”

Helen Jiang sneered inwardly.

The Jiang family really was hypocritical.

They’d thrown her out of the family with righteous words in public, but now they blamed her for not calling.

Ha, was she even able to call?

Even if she did, would anyone have answered?

If she hadn’t knelt at the front gate for so long, would Mrs. Jiang have let her in?

Helen Jiang pretended not to understand, quickly putting on a remorseful expression. “Yes, yes, it was my fault.”

Mrs. Jiang was very pleased with Helen Jiang’s attitude. She waved the butler over, picked up a bank card and handed it to Helen Jiang. “Helen, after all, we were mother and daughter. I won’t say anything else. This isn’t much money, but it’s enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life. This is the last bit of kindness I can give you as your mother.”

A trace of viciousness flashed in Helen Jiang’s eyes, but she said, “Mom, what do you mean by this? I only came to see you, I wasn’t asking for money!”

“Alright, enough. Just take it.” Mrs. Jiang pressed the bank card into Helen Jiang’s hand, not taking no for an answer.

This time, Helen Jiang didn’t refuse.

After putting the bank card away, Helen Jiang stood up and said to Mrs. Jiang, “Madam, this is the last time I’ll come to see you. You raised me from childhood, and before I leave, I’d like to offer you a cup of tea to thank you for all these years.”

Mrs. Jiang thought for a moment, her expression gentle. “Alright. Someone, bring tea.”

The butler quickly brought over a cup of tea.

Helen Jiang reached out and took the tray. As she turned away, she quietly sprinkled powder from under her fingernail into the tea.

By the time Helen Jiang walked back, there was no trace of anything unusual.

Mrs. Jiang never imagined Helen Jiang would drug the tea, so she didn’t suspect a thing. She took the cup Helen Jiang handed her and drank two sips.

After finishing the tea, Mrs. Jiang opened her mouth to tell Helen Jiang to leave, but her vision suddenly blurred and her mind became sluggish.

Seeing Mrs. Jiang’s dazed eyes, Helen Jiang immediately said, “Madam, I heard Cici is about to give birth. Can I go to the hospital to see her? I had a little disagreement with her before, and I want to apologize in person. Is that okay?”

Helen Jiang tested the waters, expecting Mrs. Jiang to refuse.

But Mrs. Jiang’s mind was already clouded.

Mrs. Jiang subconsciously rubbed her forehead and told the butler, “Prepare the car. I’ll go to the hospital with Miss Helen to see Cici.”

As soon as Mrs. Jiang finished speaking, everyone’s expression in the room changed!

Mrs. Jiang acted as if she had amnesia, calling Helen Jiang ‘Miss Helen’!

A flash of triumph burst in Helen Jiang’s eyes.

The drug really worked!

It could confuse someone’s mind and even make them forget what happened in the last short while!
