Tonight Feels a Little Warmer

1/4/2026

But when Wendy wanted to confirm, Alex had already let go and kept a safe distance from her.

Wendy felt a bit annoyed, thinking she was probably overthinking things.

Who is Special Assistant Alex, anyway?

Why would he treat her differently?

If there's anything special, it's probably because of Mrs. Charles Yin, right?

Wendy quickly composed herself, went to Cecilia's room, and neatly arranged the bedding and belongings.

She made sure everything was ready for Cecilia to move in before she arrived.

Just as she finished, Cecilia's convoy arrived.

The moment Cecilia Gu stepped into the Fujian Tulou, her expression froze.

That familiar feeling washed over her again.

She kept feeling like she'd forgotten something important.

And those things—she knew, deep down, she didn't want to forget them.

Rona Muir saw the look on Cecilia's face and guessed what she was thinking. "Some things can't be forced. What needs to come will come, and what you need to remember, you'll remember sooner or later," she said.

"Yeah, I know," Cecilia nodded, glancing at the round building. She forced herself to suppress that overwhelming feeling and, led by Wendy, entered the room.

The room was cozy, and that familiar feeling lingered in her heart.

Mia Dou and Coco Shen shared a room with Wendy—not due to a lack of space, but simply because it was more convenient.

That way, they could hear Cecilia's movements and take care of her if needed.

The other assistants and bodyguards stayed in separate rooms, forming a protective circle with Cecilia and Charles Yin's room at the center.

Cecilia noticed this arrangement and couldn't help but ask Alex, "Is Charles coming too?"

"Yes," Alex replied with a smile. "The CEO comes every year. He hasn't shown up yet this year, so he'll be staying for a few days this time."

Cecilia Gu nodded. "What about the kids?"

"They've been sent to the Yin family mansion, and Mrs. Yin is looking after them," Alex reported. "Both young masters have more and more lessons now. There's so much to learn, they can't just play around like they did abroad. Their talents have already shown, so the family is nurturing their interests accordingly."

Cecilia Gu couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

She realized she really missed the kids.

Forget it, work comes first.

At dinner, a local chef prepared a table full of delicious dishes.

Cecilia Gu and Rona Muir thought it was too lonely for just the two of them to eat, so they invited the assistants and bodyguards to join them at the nearby table.

With more people, it felt much livelier.

Cecilia Gu and Rona Muir joined the fun and ended up eating a lot.

Wendy saw Cecilia Gu was almost done eating, so she stood up and went to the kitchen to prepare some Digestive Tea.

But no matter how much she searched, Wendy couldn't find where the Digestive Tea was.

Alex saw her from afar, quietly put down his chopsticks, walked over, and asked in a low voice, "What are you looking for?"

"Digestive Tea," Wendy replied without looking up, still searching. "That's weird, I swear I put it here. Why is it gone? Miss Cecilia ate so much tonight, she'll have indigestion—I have to find it... Ah..."

Wendy suddenly stood up, about to check another cabinet, but didn't expect Alex to be right behind her. As she turned, she bumped straight into his arms.

They both froze for a moment.

Wendy quickly stepped back, trying to get away from Alex.

But behind her was the cabinet.

Wendy moved too quickly and bumped into the cabinet. The vase on top wobbled and fell toward her head.

"Watch out!" Alex stepped forward, caught the vase, and ended up wrapping Wendy in his arms again.

For the third time today, the two of them ended up in each other's arms. Even Alex's face was starting to flush.

Just then, Cecilia walked over and saw the scene. "Huh? What are you two doing?"

At her words, Alex and Wendy both panicked and blurted out in unison, "No, it's not what it looks like!"

Cecilia gave a quirky smile. "It's fine, I'm a reasonable boss. Even if there's something going on, I get it."

Wendy & Alex blurted out together again, "No, no, it's not like that! You've got it all wrong!"

Cecilia stroked her chin and nodded. "Sure, sure, it's all just a misunderstanding. Such perfect teamwork on this misunderstanding."

Wendy & Alex: "..."

What else could they say?

After Cecilia left, Alex finally straightened the cabinet, took two steps back, and said in a low voice, "I only stepped in because I saw the vase falling..."

Wendy nodded hurriedly. "I know, I know."

The two of them fell into an awkward silence.

Wendy forgot all about the Digestive Tea and just ran off.

Alex wanted to call her back, but then thought, what would he even say?

Alex sighed, opened the cabinet, and kept searching for the Digestive Tea.

Maybe it was because the cabinet had just been shaken, but the Digestive Tea suddenly fell out of a bag inside.

Alex gave a wry smile, picked up the Digestive Tea, and handed it to Mia Dou to prepare.

He didn't dare go looking for Wendy again—he was afraid she'd be too shy to look at him and mess up her work.

Still, he didn't really mind that little bit of contact, to be honest.

Later that night, when everyone was getting ready to head to their rooms, several cars arrived outside.

Just as Cecilia was about to ask, Alex smiled and reported, "The President is here."

Cecilia was stunned. "So early?"
