Mrs. Thompson's Adultery Accusation Surveillance

The village chief accepted twenty taels of silver as a meeting gift from Arthur Evans, his jaw nearly dropping in shock. He stared at Arthur and his wife as if he'd seen a ghost, looking them over again and again.

But as an experienced elder, the village chief got down to business after taking the money. He promptly handled the land deed transfer and, per Arthur Evans’s request, kept the whole affair secret.

Arthur Evans and his family temporarily stayed at Lily Evans's house. As for building their new home, Lily didn’t have to worry at all—Arthur’s wealth meant his own staff and servants took care of everything.

Soon, designers and carpenters from Jiangnan quietly arrived in Haizi Village. Lily checked out the construction site and saw they were using only the finest materials—clearly, her fourth uncle’s fortune was truly impressive.

Lately, Lily had been busy teaching Bailu and Guyu how to grow mushrooms. Then she received a letter from Savory House, inviting her to visit the city tomorrow because the boss had finally arrived.

Early the next morning, Lily headed into the city by herself, musing on the road that the Savory House boss had finally shown up.

The boss should have arrived a month ago, but the trip was delayed because of the flood, so it only happened now.

She wondered what kind of person this boss was—would they be easy to talk to? Lily rested her chin in her hand, deep in thought.

“Lily, heading into the city?” Mrs. Thompson was also riding on the ox cart. She noticed Lily hadn’t brought Lucky today and started wondering if Lily was sneaking off to meet the big boss at Savory House for some shady business.

"Oh." Lily replied, shifting to the other side of the cart to keep her distance from Mrs. Thompson.
