Joining the Herb Division

The Fire Division manages all sources of magical fire and wood used for alchemy.

The Epidemic Division oversees diseases across regions and is responsible for healing and saving lives.

The Administration Division handles administrative management and all sorts of miscellaneous affairs.

Felix Xi arrived almost at the same time as her.

Although both were branch alliance leaders, as newcomers to the Eastern Alliance, they could only join the Six Departments as ordinary Spiritual Alchemists.

As for the Six Divisions, wherever there was a shortage, that’s where you’d be sent.

The two waited in a reception room. Soon, a steward surnamed Yu from the Administration Division arrived with three people to guide them.

One of them was a middle-aged woman, short and slightly plump, but with delicate features and a gentle, approachable demeanor.

There were also two men: one older, probably in his sixties or seventies.

The other was younger, but looked to be around forty or fifty.

"This is Ms. Rachel Zhang, Department Head of the Herb Division," the steward from Administration introduced, pointing to the middle-aged woman.

"Hello, Chief Zhang." Grace greeted her with a gentle smile.

Ms. Rachel Zhang glanced at her and returned the smile warmly.

"This is Mr. Henry Huang, Department Head of the Fire Division," the steward introduced the older man.

"Hello, Mr. Henry Huang," Grace said again.

Felix Xi just nodded slightly, looking reserved.

"And this is Mr. David Lee, Department Head of the Epidemic Division," the steward finally introduced the middle-aged man. "All three divisions currently have one vacancy each. Which one would you prefer to join?"

After joining the Eastern Alliance, every Spiritual Alchemist could choose the division that interested them or suited their strengths. The idea was to make the best use of everyone’s talents.

Grace and Felix Xi both remained silent.

"The Six Departments here are different from your branch alliances. Each one is equally important," Steward Yu added.

Grace nudged Felix Xi, signaling him to choose first. Felix was about to speak when the friendly-looking Ms. Rachel Zhang suddenly turned to Grace and asked, "Are you Chloe Zhu?"

"Yes," Grace replied.

"Why don’t you join my division?"

"Hey! Ms. Rachel Zhang, that’s not fair!" Mr. Henry Huang from the Fire Division protested. "You can’t just poach people in front of everyone! And she’s got a Celestial Spirit Root!"

"Oh, come on, Old Huang! My Herb Division is full of men! Now that such a pretty young girl has finally come, let me have her! I could use some company!"

Managing magical herbs often involves dirty and tiring work, so it makes sense that it’s mostly men.

"My Fire Division is all men too! As an old man, I’d love to have a pretty young girl around—it’s refreshing!"

Ms. Rachel Zhang ignored him, grabbed Grace’s hand, and looked at her eagerly. "Grace, come join the Herb Division!"

Grace actually wanted to join the Herb Division, so she nodded.

Mr. Henry Huang huffed, turning away in annoyance.

"I’ll join the Fire Division," Felix Xi said.

Mr. Henry Huang’s mood improved, and he led Felix Xi away.

Mr. David Lee, who hadn’t recruited anyone, left with a dark expression.

"Haha, Grace!" Ms. Rachel Zhang held Grace’s hand, winked at her, and said, "There are tons of perks in the Herb Division! You won’t regret it! Come on, let’s go!"

"Thank you, Ms. Rachel Zhang!" Grace replied with a smile.

"Let’s go!"

She led Grace to the Herb Division and personally arranged a pill refining room for her.

"Once a Spiritual Alchemist joins the Eastern Alliance, no matter their rank, they get their own pill refining room," Ms. Rachel Zhang explained. "This one is right next to mine and is pretty good in every way. You can use it!"
