Business Rivalry

12/2/2025

Cynthia Yin hurried over and threw herself onto the corpse, sobbing, "Father..."

Quentin Yu comforted her gently, while Felix Yu vowed to avenge his in-law's death.

Qin Yan immediately ordered the estate to be sealed off and the assassin to be found.

Just then, a group of men in black burst in. Morgan Shangguan froze for a moment and glanced at Damien Gray. The men swaggered in, all wearing ghost masks—clearly announcing themselves as members of the Ghost Guild. That was no surprise; Damien Gray had never cared for subtlety. But the most important thing was—they were all low-level assassins!

This time, they had truly come to kill. Yet, with all the righteous sects gathered, Damien Gray sent only low-level assassins. Was it because he trusted his own people so much, or did he guess she would strike first?

Morgan Shangguan narrowed her eyes. He clearly wanted her to be the one to stand out—he had never intended to act himself!

Meeting Morgan's gaze, Damien Gray smiled, eyes full of innocence. His men might be unimpressive, but there were plenty of them! Wasn't it just a bit of excitement he was after?

The men in black saw their target was already dead and collectively froze. Their only thought was: someone actually dared to steal business from the Ghost Guild?

Such wounds could only have been made by a true professional!

Qin Yan saw the group and glared angrily at Damien Gray, demanding, "Ghostmaster, what is the meaning of this?"

Damien Gray shot him a cold glance and replied with a chilling smile, "I always work for payment. Someone ordered Master Yin's death, so I came to collect. Fortress Master Qin, are you here to seek justice?"

A trace of hesitation flickered in Qin Yan's eyes. Though the three great orthodox sects and families had already coordinated, making a public scene was best. Yet he didn't want to take the lead—those massacres from years ago remained vivid in his mind. Qin Fortress had taken years to reach its current strength, and he had no idea how powerful the Ghost Guild had become. He wasn't about to risk it all!

Quentin Drake spoke angrily, "Today is Fortress Master Qin's birthday, and Ghostmaster is a guest. For the Ghost Guild to send assassins now—surely that's their fault!"

Damien Gray didn't even glance his way, idly toying with his wine cup and replying leisurely, "No other meaning—Master Yin happened to be here today, so I took care of business. I didn't expect someone to beat me to it. Now I really can't explain to my employer!" His tone even carried a hint of genuine trouble.

As he finished speaking, he tossed the wine cup, striking the bloody head with a loud "bang!" Blood sprayed everywhere. Cynthia Yin, overstimulated, let out a scream and fainted.

Everyone present was an old hand in the martial world, but seeing a head smashed to pulp in an instant still made them shudder.

Damien Gray swept his gaze around and sneered, "Well, now everyone has an answer!"

Morgan Shangguan watched the whole scene with ease. Though she looked like a celestial being, she showed no discomfort at the bloodshed—as if she was used to it.

She felt no sympathy for Master Yin. He had tried to investigate her past and crossed her boundaries—choosing him as the scapegoat was perfectly reasonable!

Damien Gray's reminder made everyone realize—Master Yin wasn't killed by the Ghost Guild. So who was the real murderer?

Everyone's gaze unconsciously shifted to Morgan Shangguan. There were only two demonic leaders here—if it wasn't Damien Gray, suspicion naturally fell on Morgan.

Morgan Shangguan took a leisurely sip of wine and smiled lightly, "I work for payment too!"

Maxwell Jing nudged Ethan Gu and whispered with a grin, "Isn't this what they call husband and wife acting in concert?"

Damien Gray looked at him with satisfaction. Maxwell Jing smiled, hoping this might earn him leniency, but then caught Morgan Shangguan's ambiguous glance and grew uneasy—he knew offending the Princess Consort was far worse than offending the Ghostmaster!

Felix Yu roared, "Fiona Yun, a life for a life!"

He moved to strike, but Claude Yun stepped in front of Morgan. Just as Felix Yu was about to attack, Muriel Murong struck him from behind, sending him coughing up blood!

Noah Duanmu's face darkened. "Little witch!" he snapped. Did she even consider the consequences of attacking someone now? There was no way his father would approve of their relationship after this!

Muriel Murong turned her face away and huffed, "No one can harm the Guildmaster!"

Looking at the angry crowd, Morgan Shangguan chuckled, "It seems I'm easier to bully than the Ghostmaster!"

Indeed! The martial artists feared Damien Gray more—his past deeds were unforgettable. The Cloud Guild's methods were similar to the Ghost Guild and their power just as mysterious, but the guild was still new and lacked the same intimidation.

Damien Gray spoke slowly, "I don't think so. For the Cloud Guildmaster to dare compete with my Ghost Guild, she's hardly easy to bully."

Morgan Shangguan smiled gently and replied, "Thank you for the compliment, Ghostmaster!"

Damien Gray narrowed his eyes and said meaningfully, "I'm just afraid the Cloud Guildmaster won't be able to pay the price!"

Morgan Shangguan replied calmly, "I'll be watching!" With that, she stood up and walked out, not sparing the martial artists a single glance.

Qin Yan's face was full of anger. "It seems the Cloud Guildmaster doesn't care about me at all!"

Morgan Shangguan didn't even turn her head. "I only care about those I like. You... don't qualify!"

Quentin Drake actually admired her—a young woman with such composure and presence was truly remarkable. Too bad she wasn't on his side!

Felix Yu called out, "Men!" Although he was here to celebrate, he'd brought a few people along—after all, his motives weren't pure.

Morgan Shangguan didn't move at all; those who tried to block her had already fallen. Marjorie Wan stood outside with a dozen men, her voice still gentle, "If you don't want to die, stay out of the way!"

Liam Liu's face changed. Marjorie Wan's actions—where did that leave him?

Shuyang Ye had kept silent all along. Now his position was awkward—his daughter had fallen for someone from the demonic side, and he couldn't intervene! As for Healer's Sanctuary, Galen Gu supported them but hadn't come.
