Reunion with Old Friends

1/4/2026

Rona Muir's words left Cecilia Gu utterly stunned.

"You, you! Even if you've been abroad all this time, you should at least ask about Mrs. Mo, right?" Rona Muir could tell from Cecilia Gu's expression that she'd been completely clueless these past three years.

"Aunt Mo?" Cecilia was still a little surprised.

"This spring, Mrs. Mo officially became Director of the Department of Culture in Eastshire Province. And this cultural exchange event is actually meant to pave the way for the Grant Family." Rona sighed softly. "The Mo Family can't wait to have you marry into their family! Didn't you say your relationship with the Mo Family wasn't that good? Don't tell me you really didn't know?"

Cecilia's jaw dropped and she didn't speak for a long time. When she finally responded to Rona's question, she said slowly, "I haven't been back to China in three years. And for holidays, I only sent greetings online, never visited in person. But, if that's the case, does that mean I'll see her when I go to Capital City this time?"

"You finally caught on." Rona tapped Cecilia's forehead. "Better think about how you'll face her, or it'll be way too awkward when the time comes!"

"Yeah, it's a bit much!" Cecilia said helplessly. "The Mo Family supporting the Grant Family is good for me, but it just feels a little..."

As the two were talking, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu came bouncing down the stairs. "Godmother..."

The two kids greeted Rona Muir from both sides, "Godmother, can we go to Capital City with you?"

"Nope!" Rona Muir replied with a smile. "This time, godmother is going to Capital City to help your god-grandpa with important matters! I can't take you along! Next time, I'll take you on a trip just us, okay?"

Cecilia pulled her two sons over, one in each hand, and handed them to Mrs. Zhang. "Take them to do their homework. I'm going to check it later!"

...Ethan Yin looked like he was about to cry.

...Miles Gu was full of regret!

Rona Muir still had to prepare for her trip to Capital City, so she didn’t stay for dinner. After a few words, she hurried off.

Professor Edward Mu was taking his academic achievements to Capital City this time.

As the good daughter of Professor Mu, of course Rona would accompany and assist her father with such an important event.

Besides, she also had to promote her own company while in Capital City. So many things to do!

Not long after Rona Muir left, Sophie Mo called. Just like Rona, she emphasized the importance of the cultural exchange event, and mysteriously told Cecilia, "My mom said she prepared a huge gift for you when you come to Capital City. Even I don’t get one—she’s saving it just for you!"

Cecilia felt a wave of guilt. "Sophie, can I refuse?"

"Don’t ask me! I don’t have the right to answer that." Sophie Mo replied instantly over the phone. "You’re the one everyone in our family agrees on! Seriously, to get my fierce grandpa’s approval and my picky mom’s affection—Cecilia, you’re one of a kind! Nobody else could do it!"

Cecilia couldn’t help but chuckle. "Don’t say that. The more you do, the heavier my heart feels! You’ve got your own engagement too, so we totally understand each other!"

"True!" Sophie replied with a sigh. "I still blame them for joking about it back then! Julian King, that drama queen, actually made a big show of proposing with a feather as his scepter—I was so embarrassed I could die!"

Cecilia burst out laughing, completely unapologetic.

"Julian King? Is that the British nobleman who settled in England?" Cecilia asked after she finished laughing.

She’d only known Sophie Mo had a fiancé in England, a nobleman, but never asked his name before.

"Yeah." Sophie Mo continued, still frustrated. "Enough about him. My brother and I will be at the cultural exchange event too! Just get ready for my mom’s gentle bombardment!"

After hanging up, Cecilia finally took a deep breath.

News of her moving back home spread quickly.

To outsiders, it was obvious: Mrs. Charles Yin had come home.

All those women hoping to marry into the Yin Family had to give up that idea.

Unwilling to give up, they set their sights on Sienna Yin, the second young master of the Yin Family.

Even though Sienna Yin is worlds apart from Charles Yin, he's still part of the Yin Family!

Plus, Sienna has Howard Yin's genes—he's definitely a handsome guy.

So lately, Sienna Yin's popularity seemed to be on the rise.

At recent parties, since Charles Yin was in Japan, Sienna Yin attended on behalf of the Yin Family—and gained quite a bit of attention.

That day, Cecilia drove to the company to check on operations.

Just as she arrived downstairs, before she could even park, she saw Sienna Yin pull up in a red Lotus sports car—with a beautiful girl in the passenger seat.

The two cars ran into each other in the most dramatic way.

When Sienna Yin saw Cecilia, he slammed on the brakes and stopped dead in his tracks.

"Ce... uh... uh... Sister-in-law..." Sienna Yin quickly corrected himself.

He knew Cecilia had regained her memory, but he still missed the days when she listened to his troubles in the countryside wheat fields.

Cecilia didn’t correct Sienna’s address, just nodded at him. "Out shopping with your girlfriend?"

"No, no!" Sienna Yin denied instinctively. "Not my girlfriend, just a friend."

The girl in the car’s face changed slightly.

But given Cecilia’s status, she couldn’t say anything, so she just glared and kept quiet.

"Get out of the car. I need to talk to my sister-in-law," Sienna said, directly asking the girl to leave.

The beauty shot Sienna a resentful look, but didn’t dare defy him. She got out and left.

Hearing Sienna wanted to talk, Cecilia lifted her chin. "Go park your car."

Cecilia parked first, and when she got out, Sienna was already waiting for her.

Cecilia sighed softly.

Now that she had regained her memories, of course she remembered everything about Charles Yin.

She hadn’t forgotten that lost, helpless young man by the wheat field, either.

It just always felt a little dramatic, honestly.

"Have you eaten?" Cici Grant walked ahead with her purse, while Charles Yin followed behind. "Let’s grab breakfast together."

Charles Yin would never refuse. He followed Cici step by step right into the restaurant.

"Sis-in-law, when are you coming back to the Yin Family?" Charles Yin’s gaze was a little evasive—he didn’t dare look at Cici.

"No rush." Cici smiled. "Now’s not the right time."

"Young Master Jiang mentioned you today. He said you just got back from Japan, but no one gave you a proper welcome." Charles hesitated. "Honestly, I feel the same way. Thank you for helping me last time—I never really thanked you properly."

"You mean the thing with Ma Yingying?" Cici caught on. "It was nothing. The Yin Family needs lots of workers anyway. Ma Yingying’s still young, didn’t go to college—finding a good job wouldn’t be easy for her. Letting her work under your nose keeps things safe. She’s a good girl; if she works hard, the Yin Family won’t treat her badly. But since her last name is Ma, even though you’re siblings, she’s not officially recognized by the family."

"I know." Charles Yin subconsciously bit his lip. "I know you’re just looking out for me."
