The Prince of Qin's ship sailed away from the harbor. Lily Evans stood on the deck, gazing at the distant capital that slowly faded from view, her heart overflowing with reluctance to leave.
This was the place where she and Alexander Hayes had lived and worked together, where she had poured her heart and soul into building their legacy.
She had hoped to spend the rest of her life here with her husband, but in the end, they had to part ways.
Everything familiar was slowly growing distant with her departure, fading away little by little.
Lily turned around and looked at Alexander Hayes standing beside her. He was smiling gently at her, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. He reached out and held Lily's hand tightly, saying, "Tomorrow we'll see our child again."
Lily's gentle smile at Alexander Hayes instantly swept away the sorrow in her heart brought on by leaving.
She knew that no matter where she was, no matter when, Alexander Hayes would always be by her side.
Wherever he was, that was home.
Home meant having her husband and their children. No matter how far they traveled, their family would always be warm and loving.
Lily took a deep breath, her heart beginning to look forward to seeing her child and embracing the new life awaiting them in their fiefdom.
To outsiders, the Kingdom of Qin was a barren, undeveloped land—a place to be avoided at all costs. But to Lily Evans, it was a land brimming with hope, the very stage for her grand ambitions.
Though the road ahead was difficult, with family and friends by her side, Lily feared nothing.
The large ship slowly left the river channel of the capital, joining the great river and heading south. The city gradually disappeared from view, leaving only verdant mountains and clear waters flanking both sides—an endless stretch of green that invigorated the spirit.
With such beautiful scenery on both banks, most of those resting in the cabins had finished packing and came out to admire the river view.
Martin Wu pushed open the door and stepped out, leaning against the railing in the corridor. She stretched lazily and took a deep breath, letting the moist breeze fill her lungs. Gazing at the expansive green mountains and clear waters on both sides, she felt her heart open up—what a refreshing mood!
Just as Martin Wu was happily enjoying the scenery, she turned around and saw someone stepping out of the adjacent cabin.
He was tall and handsome, with a face that could make countless women swoon—but to Martin Wu, he was downright infuriating!
Yes, infuriating! This was the shameless scoundrel who had touched her chest!
Even if he hadn’t known she was a woman and it was all a misunderstanding, the fact remained—he’d touched her, and that made him a scoundrel!
Simon Yu had just stepped out of the cabin to enjoy the view when he felt an unfriendly gaze. Turning his head, he saw Martin Wu looking at him with eyes sharp as knives. Simon Yu instinctively tensed up and, without thinking, reached back to cover his own backside.
Simon Yu’s poor backside had been kicked by Martin Wu several times over the past two days. Now, just seeing her made it ache all over again.
"Hmph! Go away, keep your distance, don’t spoil such a beautiful view!" Martin Wu glared at Simon Yu, snapping at him impatiently.
Simon Yu shrank his head, but then remembered he was a man—how could he be intimidated by a little woman? So he retorted, "Why don’t you go away yourself?"
"I was here first—this spot is mine! Move it, or I’ll kick you!" Martin Wu raised her foot, threatening to kick. Simon Yu’s backside throbbed even more, and he instinctively took several steps back, glaring, "Forget it, a real man doesn’t fight with women! I’m not afraid of you, I’m just letting you have it! Hmph!"
With that, Simon Yu turned away haughtily and went back into his cabin. When he shut the door, he made sure to slam it loudly, just to show Martin Wu how annoyed he was.
"Childish!" Martin Wu snorted, shouting the word toward Simon Yu’s cabin.
Simon Yu instinctively wanted to protest, but after a moment, he realized—damn, he really was being childish!
