A Great Calamity

1/4/2026

When Sean returned, the other talisman in Faustin’s hand lit up, projecting the scene inside the main hall.

High Immortal Clearpool had already played the contents of the Clarity Charm.

On the bed lay a withered female immortal, stiff and close to death.

As expected, she declared that Clearpool and Sera Shaw were biological siblings.

Lucia Lu walked over to Sean Shaw and asked, “They told us not to watch, so why insist on seeing it?”

Sean Shaw tensed up and moved a little further away, his face expressionless. "Was the Late Heavenly Moon Empress disheveled in any way?" he asked.

“No,” Lucia said, watching the scene. “Her clothes are perfectly neat.”

“Besides that, did she say anything even more confidential?”

“Nope.”

After saying this, the Late Heavenly Moon Empress passed away.

Her eyes were wide open, unable to close even in death.

“So, what exactly is it that we’re not allowed to see? Why did they make us leave?” Sean asked again. “We were there listening for ages and already knew they were siblings. Why can’t we watch such a simple Clarity Charm?”

Lucia was stunned. “Maybe... everyone was just too worked up at first and forgot we were there, then suddenly remembered...”

“No, that’s not it.” Faustin spoke up.

“Not what?” Lucia asked, walking over to him.

“Divine Lady, something’s off with the Late Heavenly Moon Empress,” said Faustin.

“Off how?” Lucia asked.

“On her deathbed, her body was unusually rigid, and her eyes looked wrong—like she’d been hit with a Puppet Rune!” Faustin said.

Lucia’s expression changed instantly.

Being branded with a Puppet Rune—what did that mean?

That meant someone had deliberately manipulated the Late Heavenly Moon Empress to say those things.

Who?

For what purpose?

Lucia’s mind was racing, but suddenly Faustin’s face changed drastically. He stared at the sky and shouted, “This is bad!”

Lucia glanced up too. Today’s weather was supposed to be perfect—clear skies for miles.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“Black clouds are gathering—a great calamity!” Faustin said, panic in his voice. “Divine Lady, Fifth Highness, the entire Heavenly Moon Empire is facing a massive death tribulation! Black clouds overhead—something terrible is coming!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the sky suddenly darkened.

Tribulation clouds began to gather.

“Ascension tribulation clouds... Oh no!” Lucia dashed into the main hall.

Her eyes turned into golden vertical pupils as she scanned everyone present.

It was Sera Shaw, High Immortal.

Those were her ascension tribulation clouds.

From mid-tier High Immortal to upper-tier—the tribulation clouds for her breakthrough.

Crossing a tribulation is the life-or-death hurdle for any cultivator.

One careless mistake, and you’ll die under the tribulation lightning.

Lucia had survived two tribulations herself—mental strength is especially crucial when crossing one.

Some say crossing a tribulation is your way of telling the heavens you’re determined to live.

If you falter or show any weakness to the tribulation, the lightning will seize the chance to wipe you from existence.

Right now, Sera Shaw was drowning in despair and helplessness from the truth about her sibling.

At this moment, she sensed the tribulation coming, smiled through her tears, and told Clearpool, “Clearpool, I’ve loved you every single day, without change! All these years, I didn’t seek you out because I wanted your hatred to fade first—then I’d bring you back... Honestly, I’ve never been able to let you go...”

Clearpool heard the thunder, saw lightning flicker around her, and his face changed. He shouted, “Stop talking! Focus! Your ascension tribulation lightning is coming!”
