He sat there, gazing at the rainbow outside the window.
"Is everything settled?"
The man didn’t turn around. His voice was raspy and a bit lazy.
"No... I’d already gotten Yara Song to sign the contract..."
Keith Yang stood there honestly, looking at the man in front of him, his tone uneasy.
"So where’s the contract?"
The man still stared off into the distance, as if Keith Yang didn’t even exist in his eyes.
"The contract... The contract got burned by some random kid who suddenly showed up."
Keith Yang gritted his teeth. "Yara Song and her manager are total idiots."
"But I never imagined there’d be someone even dumber than them in this world!"
"I already told that kid I work for the Dunn Group, but he didn’t even care—he just beat me up!"
Just mentioning it made Keith Yang even angrier.
"If he doesn’t respect me, whatever. I’m just a nobody, after all!"
"But he actually dared to disrespect the Dunn Group! That’s just unforgivable!"
Keith Yang kept rambling on.
He went on for ages, but the man sitting with his back to him never said a word.
The whole office felt a little tense.
Sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
"Chairman Duan?"
Keith Yang asked nervously.
"I asked about the contract."
The man sitting there tapped the armrest with one hand. His voice was as raspy as ever, but now it carried a chill.
"I messed up. I’m sorry!"
Keith Yang didn’t dare say another word—he dropped to his knees, forehead touching the floor.
He was shaking all over.
"Keith, you’ve been working for me for a while now. You know I never ask about the process, only the result."
"Today, you screwed up. You swore you’d help the company land Yara Song."
The man stood up and stretched lazily.
"You told me the contract was signed. A signed contract is like a duck in the mouth—and it got snatched away by some random kid?"
"Who is this kid? And what’s his connection to Yara Song?"
The man kept asking.
"I don’t know... He probably doesn’t have any background. He and Yara Song didn’t seem to know each other—on the plane, he was the one who started talking to her, but Yara didn’t even bother to respond."
"So I figured the kid’s got no real backing. Otherwise, Yara wouldn’t have been so cold to him."
Keith Yang kept trying to recall everything that happened.
"Oh, so he’s just some nobody, and a random troublemaker with no connection to Yara Song. If he dares to mess with us and ruin Dunn Group’s plans, you do know what you’re supposed to do, right?"
The man turned around and started fiddling with a teapot on the table.
He opened the lid, scooped some tea leaves from a tin, dropped them in the pot, and poured in hot water.
Hot water hit the tea leaves, and instantly the scent filled the room.
"I know... It’s just that kid is seriously weird."
Keith Yang trembled. "The guys I brought with me all got wrecked, just like that."
"Seriously, I have no idea how that kid even moved—just like that, everyone went down..."
"Ah!"
Keith Yang didn’t even finish his sentence.
The man, holding a full pot of hot tea, walked right up to him.
He flipped the teapot, pouring scalding tea straight onto Keith Yang’s back.
Keith Yang screamed from the pain, but didn’t dare move an inch.
"Oh, so you ran into a young expert?"
The man smiled.
He stopped pouring halfway through the pot.
"Every time I treat you to tea, it’s always a full pot."
"Today I only treated you to half a pot. That’s your punishment for screwing up. The other half—I’ll save it for when I see that kid."
As he said this, the man’s expression suddenly turned icy.
"Any kid who dares to mess with the Dunn Group—I want to see just how tough he really is!"
"If he’s not as incredible as you claim, I guarantee you’ll regret the excuse you gave today!"
As he spoke, Keith Yang’s whole body trembled.
"I swear it’s all true—all of it!"
"I swear on my honor and dignity!"
Keith Yang spoke fast, swearing up and down.
He barely finished speaking.
The man kicked him hard.
"You, a heartless guy who helps me do dirty work every day, swearing to me on your honor and dignity?"
Another heavy kick.
It looked powerful, but he didn’t actually use much force.
Keith Yang rolled with it, quickly speaking up again.
"I just got a call from Victor Wu—the kid’s at the hotel right now."
"Yara Song’s still at the Orchid Crown International Hotel. We can go settle her business first, then deal with that kid."
As he spoke, Keith Yang pulled out a contract from inside his jacket.
"Didn’t you burn it?"
The man raised an eyebrow.
"The real one was burned, but this fake contract will do. Yara Song did sign the original, after all."
Keith Yang explained, "Worst case, we’ll just have her sign another one later."
"But Yara Song seems to be an artist under the Hong Kong Li family. If we go after her openly, I’m worried it’ll cause trouble."
Keith Yang was still being cautious.
"The Li family?"
Hearing this, Chairman Duan shook his head.
"That Li family—they haven’t even solved their own problems yet."
"Didn’t you hear the noise just now?"
"Some idiot calling himself Master Lin from Seacrest is here in Hong Kong, looking to mess with the Li family and Victor Zhou!"
Chairman Duan sneered as he said this.
"Never mind what kind of clown this Master Lin is, or where he popped up from—just the fact that the Li family is getting chased and bitten right now means they’re too busy to care about us."
"The Hong Kong Li family cares about their reputation, and Victor Zhou—one of the three great masters of Hong Kong—treats his reputation like his life."
"So, let’s deal with Yara Song first, then drag that kid out and destroy him."
"Oh, right—call Beast King and have him come along."
"Isn’t there a charity gala tonight?"
"Let’s use that chance to take Yara Song away!"
