Back when Queenie was little, her piggy bank only had a few one-yuan coins and a couple of fifty-cent coins—Serena knew exactly what was inside. But Serena never talked about it.
Queenie Tong leaned over to the window, gazing up at the sky. Staring at the rainbow bridge stretching across the horizon, her face was full of amazement: "Did you do that?"
Queenie leaned back on the sofa, still replaying Evan's words in her mind.
Evan had just amplified his voice with spiritual qi, deliberately avoiding his own room. With me around, even if the sky falls, it won't let you fall.
The purpose of those words was to send a message to the Hong Kong Li family and that Zhou Tiantong guy; there was no need for Queenie and the others to hear it—he didn't want to scare them. Even though Queenie knew Evan probably didn't mean anything by it, the sense of safety those words gave her was so strong it made her feel excited and warm inside.
Yvette Locke was still soaking in the water—on one side, icy flames rose, on the other, the water stayed boiling.
Evan smiled faintly, reached out, and snapped his fingers. Serena and Queenie didn't bother Yvette.
As his fingers snapped, the rainbow bridge in the sky froze completely, solidifying and remaining unmoving. It looked so real that it seemed like someone could walk across it without falling. Meanwhile, Evan, in his room, took a few Nourishing Spirit Pills to recover the spiritual qi he'd just spent.
"It is pretty! Way better than fireworks." Doing a full-island broadcast also takes energy.
Queenie nodded her head, staring eagerly at the rainbow bridge in the sky. "If only there really was a bridge like that, it'd be awesome." Once I've dealt with the current situation, I'll absorb all ten thousand Nourishing Spirit Pills.
"If you like it, once I have time, I'll take you up there for a look." Evan made up his mind.
As Evan spoke, he made up his mind. The spiritual qi from ten thousand pills would be enough to break through his current level.
Queenie was stunned again. "You really can go up there?" The scene shifts to a commercial building in Hong Kong.
"Will it fall? I'm a little afraid of heights." A car maneuvered several times and finally entered the parking lot.
Queenie looked conflicted. The car door opened.
"It won't fall. With me here, even if the sky collapsed, it wouldn't let you fall." Yang Qi, looking disheveled, rushed into the building on all fours.
Hearing Evan's words, Queenie felt a strange, indescribable nervousness deep inside. Someone called out to Yang Qi: "Brother Yang, what's going on? Why are you in such a rush?"
She secretly glanced at Evan, his handsome, clean-cut face making her head spin with wild thoughts. Someone joked: "Did you find something good for the boss to try out?"
"I'll go help my sister tidy up the room. You take a break." Someone else laughed: "I'm sure that's it. Everyone knows Brother Yang's been rising fast these years. Just look at those mainland actresses he brought in for the company—every one of them made the boss happy."
"Oh, right—on the way from the airport to the hotel, we passed some nice clothing stores. My sister and I guessed you probably didn't bring much, so we bought you a few outfits." Inside the building, several men saw Yang Qi rushing in and greeted him with cheerful laughter.
"I'll get them for you, so you can change into something fresh after your shower."
After Queenie Tong finished speaking, she dashed out of the room. In no time, she returned with clothes, placed them by the bedside, and hurried out again.
The door to the room closed behind her.
"Why does it feel like her mood suddenly changed a lot?"
Evan Lin shook his head, a bit puzzled.
"Ah, ah, ah!"
Outside the room, Queenie Tong jumped excitedly in place.
Her heart was full of joy. She bounced around the living room twice; if she weren't worried Evan might hear, her shouts would have been even louder.
"What's got you so happy?"
Serena Tong was lying on the sofa, flipping through a magazine. Seeing Queenie come out of the room so excited, she couldn't help but smile. "Did he really like the clothes you picked for him?"
"But you're not wrong—he's the type who never brings anything when he goes out, let alone clothes."
Serena Tong shook her head.
"No, Sis, let me tell you..."
Queenie dashed over to Serena, about to repeat what Evan had just said to her. But when she got close, she forced herself to hold back, her face turning red.
"Actually, I'm not saying anything—I'll just keep it as my little secret."
Queenie giggled, wrapping herself around Serena like a koala.
"You, honestly."
Serena rubbed Queenie's head, smiling helplessly.
Queenie's antics made Serena feel amused.
A secret, huh?
When Queenie was little, Serena knew exactly how many one-yuan and fifty-cent coins were in her piggy bank.
Serena just never said anything about it.
Queenie leaned back on the sofa, still replaying Evan's words in her mind.
"With me around, even if the sky falls, it won't let you fall."
Queenie knew Evan probably didn't mean anything special by those words, but the sense of safety they gave her in that instant made her feel excited and warm all over.
Yvette Locke was still soaking in the water, with one side boiling hot and the other side icy cold.
Serena and Queenie left her alone.
Evan Lin, inside his room, took a few Nourishing Spirit Pills to restore his depleted spiritual energy.
Broadcasting across the whole island takes its toll, after all.
"Once I finish dealing with the current situation, I'll absorb all ten thousand Nourishing Spirit Pills."
Evan made up his mind.
The spiritual energy in those ten thousand pills would be enough for him to break through his current realm.
Somewhere in Hong Kong, inside a commercial office building.
A car twisted and turned several times before parking in the lot.
The car door opened.
Yang Qi, looking utterly miserable, scrambled into the building on all fours.
"Brother Yang, what's up? Why are you in such a hurry?"
"Did you find another hot new starlet for the chairman to try out? Is that why you're so eager?"
"Definitely! Everyone knows Brother Yang's been on the fast track these years. Remember those mainland actresses he brought in a few years ago? The chairman was over the moon about them!"
Inside the building, a few men greeted Yang Qi with cheerful smiles as he rushed in.
