Miles Gu Wants to Break Off the Engagement
Yina Yin was never the type to hide behind others seeking protection.
So, if Miles Gu wanted to break off their engagement, she was going to get to the bottom of it.
If Miles Gu never liked her, she would never cling to him!
But if someone was threatening Miles Gu and forcing him to break up, then even if it cost her life, she would take down whoever it was!
Cherry Miller understood Yina Yin immediately and nodded, saying, "Alright, I'll get the car ready. I'll drive you myself."
Miles Gu returned to Newport City, but instead of going back to the Yin family, he checked into a hotel thirty kilometers away.
This deliberate move to distance himself shocked everyone.
Not only Cherry Miller and Yina Yin wanted answers—even other members of the Yin family, and close friends of Miles Gu, all wanted to get to the truth!
Everyone's first thought was: Someone must be threatening Miles Gu!
Because everyone could see right through it.
Everyone had witnessed Miles Gu’s feelings for Yina Yin since they were children.
They say there are three things humans can’t hide: poverty, a cough, and love.
Since they loved each other for so many years, how could they suddenly break off their engagement?
Someone must be forcing him!
Who is it?
Find them!
Take them down!
So when Cherry Miller and Yina Yin arrived at the hotel, they found Ethan Yin, Yuzhen Yin, Leo and Theo Mo, Ryan King, Sam Shang, and Lucas Mu already there.
"You guys..." Cherry just started to speak, then closed her mouth.
Because she saw Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin approaching from a distance, both looking grim.
"Mom! Dad!" The moment Yina Yin saw Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin, she couldn't hold back her feelings and called out loudly.
No matter how bold Yina Yin was, she was still a girl.
And she was only twenty-one this year.
Still a pampered heiress raised by her family.
Faced with something like this, it was impossible to stay calm.
Charles Yin immediately pulled his beloved daughter into his arms and patted her back. "All of you go home now. Leave this to us."
"Dad!" Ethan Yin protested.
"Listen!" Charles Yin’s eyes darkened, the lines at the corners making him look even more distinguished and mature.
Cecilia Gu came over and gently patted her daughter's arm. "Someone has already explained to us why Miles Gu ended up like this."
"Mom..." Yina Yin turned and hugged Cecilia Gu tightly. "Miles, did someone force him?"
Cecilia Gu let out a long sigh and said nothing.
"You all go home first. We'll explain everything tonight," Charles Yin ordered.
As the family patriarch, Charles Yin’s orders were never disobeyed.
"Yes." Ethan Yin tugged at the lost Yuzhen Yin, grabbed Ryan King who was still bouncing around wanting to find Miles Gu, and left the hotel first.
Seeing Ethan Yin leave, the others followed suit and left as well.
"Cherry, come with us," Cecilia Gu said to Cherry Miller. "Leo and Theo Mo, you two keep an eye on Yina. Don't let her run off."
"Okay." Leo and Theo Mo obediently nodded, and dragged the reluctant Yina Yin away, turning back every few steps.
"Madam, Chairman." Cherry Miller looked worried. "Why would Young Master Miles make such a decision?"
"It's a long story. I kept you here because I wanted to give you a few instructions," Cecilia Gu said to Cherry Miller. "Miles Gu's situation is very complicated. This time, his decision to break off the engagement was his own—no one forced him."
"How could that be?" Cherry Miller was so shocked she could barely speak.
"We'll explain more tonight. Cherry, Yina's emotions are unstable these days. You need to stay by her side at all times—don't let her do anything foolish, understand?" Cecilia Gu said.
"I understand, Madam. Don't worry, I won't leave her for a second," Cherry Miller promised quickly. "Madam, please don't be too sad. I believe Young Master Miles must have his reasons for doing this."
Cecilia Gu gave a bitter smile, patted Cherry Miller’s head, and said, "I’m afraid this time, the two of them won’t make it through."
Charles Yin placed a hand on Cecilia Gu’s shoulder and said, "So what if the engagement is broken off? My daughter will never lack suitors!"
"Is that really the issue here?" Cecilia Gu glared at Charles Yin. "Those two have been childhood sweethearts for twenty years. You think it’s so easy to let go? Besides, we still don’t know if Miles can recover! What kind of father gives up before even trying?"
The dignified chairman of the Yin Consortium was scolded by his beloved wife—and didn’t dare talk back.
Seeing the familiar dynamic between Madam and Chairman, Cherry Miller felt a little more at ease.
She thought to herself, with Madam and Chairman handling things, no matter how big the problem is, there’s always hope.
"I know what you’ve been doing these past few days. Thank you for your hard work," Cecilia Gu said, patting Cherry Miller’s shoulder. "I’ll make sure you’re rewarded later. Go back now, and keep a close eye on Yina."
"Okay, Madam, I’ll go now," Cherry Miller nodded quickly. "You take care of yourself too."
"Alright." Cecilia Gu nodded. After watching Cherry Miller leave, she turned to Charles Yin and said, "Charles, what the Field Family did this time wasn’t really their intention. Don’t be so harsh on them all."
"Hmph, are you pleading for him?" Charles Yin’s voice carried a hint of jealousy.
That Earl Field had always liked Cecilia Gu.
Even now that the children were grown, he still hadn’t given up hope.
"What are you talking about!" Cecilia Gu couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him. "If Earl Field had been home, those people never would have succeeded. This wasn’t his idea, so why blame him for everything?"
"Hmph." Chairman Yin didn’t argue.
Cecilia Gu sighed. "We know how complicated the Field Family is. The Grand Duke lived a wild life, and his three sons each have their own problems. The whole family is rotten at the core—how could one person fix it? Anyway, let’s go see Miles Gu."

"Mm." Charles Yin’s expression softened a little, then darkened again. "That brat actually made us come see him!"
Cecilia Gu smiled. "It’s a special circumstance, isn’t it? Let’s go!"
With that, Cecilia Gu pulled Charles Yin into the elevator.
When the elevator doors opened, Miles Gu hurried down the corridor to greet them.
"Mom, Dad." The moment Miles Gu saw Charles Yin and Cecilia Gu, he felt an inexplicable warmth.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that these two weren’t the type to demand gratitude in return.
Especially Cecilia Gu—you could tell from her looks that she had a gentle, upright character. There was no way she’d ever coerce him into marrying her daughter.
Where did things go wrong?
Before Miles Gu could figure it out, Charles Yin’s cold voice cut in: "The future Grand Duke sure likes to keep up appearances."
Miles Gu quickly explained, "Sorry, I got the news a bit late and couldn’t come down to greet you..."
Before Miles Gu could finish, a soft voice sounded behind him: "Miles, who are they?"
Cecilia Gu looked up and saw, not far away, a girl with the same red eyes, looking timidly in their direction.
Was this girl also from the Field Family?
"Mom, Dad, let me introduce you. This is Elisa—my fiancée." As soon as Miles Gu finished speaking, both Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin’s expressions changed.
Charles Yin couldn’t take it anymore and swung a fist at Miles Gu. "You brat!"
Miles Gu didn’t dodge and took the punch head-on.
"Miles!" Elisa Field screamed and rushed forward, blocking Charles Yin with her arms. "Who are you people? How dare you hit him! Somebody help!"
"A." Charles Yin’s gaze grew colder as he looked at Elisa Field.
A and Wang stepped forward in perfect sync and grabbed Elisa Field without hesitation.
"Dad, if you want to hit me, I won’t dodge. Elisa doesn’t know anything—don’t hurt her." Miles Gu wiped the blood from his mouth. "She’s my fiancée. I’ll protect her no matter what."
"No matter what? You want to fight me?" Charles Yin was livid.
Cecilia Gu’s eyes reddened with sadness. "Miles, if you still call me Mom, answer me—are you really set on breaking off your engagement with Yina? You truly don’t regret it?"
"Mom..." Miles Gu looked at Cecilia Gu. "I’m grateful you saved me and raised me. But I can’t repay that kindness with love. Even if I become the next head of the Field Family, I’ll always remember what you did for me. But Elisa is the woman I love—I can’t marry anyone else."
"Anyone else?" Cecilia Gu was heartbroken. "We’ve become strangers to you now?"
Charles Yin said coldly, "Cecilia, there’s nothing more to say. Since he’s made up his mind, he won’t turn back."
Elisa Field was secretly delighted, but kept up her timid appearance. "Miles, they’re so scary. Can we go back to England?"
Miles Gu pulled Elisa Field behind him and soothed her in a low voice. "Don’t be afraid. It’s alright. I’ll protect you."
Charles Yin couldn’t watch anymore. He grabbed Cecilia Gu and turned to leave. "Miles, remember what you said today. If you ever want to marry Yina again, neither of us will agree!"
Cecilia Gu wanted to say something, but seeing Miles Gu comforting Elisa Field, she couldn’t say a word.
Wang and A exchanged a glance, shook their heads helplessly, and followed them out.
This time, it seemed Young Master Miles and Yina Yin were truly doomed.
That night, Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin arrived at Luoxia Manor. Seeing everyone’s hopeful eyes on them, their hearts grew heavier.
