Sophie Sun, I Will Remember You
The four guards at the front fell instantly, each with a short arrow embedded in their forehead.
Grace spun around and darted deeper into the woods.
Sophie Sun's cultivation was way beyond what she could handle.
Sophie Sun's eyes turned icy as she chased after her personally.
Along the way, Grace was injured in several places by Sophie Sun's spirit arrows.
But Grace had hidden weapons, so Sophie Sun couldn't catch her right away.
Unfortunately, though Grace had often entered Eastwood Forest in her previous life, that was always from the Vermilion Kingdom side.
This was her first time entering the woods from Blue Moon Kingdom.
So she wasn't familiar with this area at all.
After running for a while, she suddenly realized she'd hit a dead end.
Ahead was a sheer cliff; behind, Sophie Sun led four pursuers.
The rest of the guards had basically been taken care of by Grace.
Only the four strongest remained, and Grace was out of hidden weapons.
They cornered her at the edge of the cliff.
"Sophie Sun, I have no grudge against you. Why ambush and hunt me down?" Grace glared at her, eyes full of bloodlust.
Sophie Sun smiled faintly. "Because you're Chloe Zhu, aren't you?"
"So what if I'm Chloe Zhu?"
"Chloe Zhu used to be a nobody—a total joke in all of Danyang City! But if you're a Spirit Practitioner, that's a whole different story." Sophie Sun said. "You could become a threat to me."
"What kind of threat?"
"Evan Xiao," Sophie Sun replied. "He can only be mine."
Grace understood.
She was the eldest daughter of the Zhu Family, the top noble house in Blue Moon Kingdom.
She was a Spirit Practitioner.
She also had a not-so-ordinary relationship with Evan Xiao.
She made Sophie Sun feel threatened.
So even though they had no history and it was their first meeting, Sophie Sun still wanted her dead.
Grace glanced at the cliff behind her and said, "Did you ever think, if you can't kill me today, is your Sun Family ready for my father's revenge?"
"You don't seriously think you can escape from here, do you?" Sophie Sun sneered. "Besides, we're both Four Great Houses. Do you think the Sun Family fears your Zhu Family?"
Zhu, Shane, Yuan, and Sun—these were the Four Great Houses of Blue Moon Kingdom.
Among them, Zhu, Shane, and Yuan were old houses with deep roots, while the Sun Family was a recent upstart.
The reason for their rise was Sophie Sun and her father.
They controlled the Blue Moon Spirit Alliance, which meant they controlled the kingdom's supply of spiritual medicines. Suddenly, their wealth and influence rivaled the Zhu Family.
But honestly, they still felt like nouveau riche.
Grace sneered. "Fine! Sophie Sun, I'll remember you!"
With that, she turned and leapt off the edge.
Sophie Sun and the others' faces changed instantly.
This cliff was called Deadman's Cliff. The top jutted out dangerously, and it was thousands of feet deep. If you fell, there was zero chance of survival.
They all rushed over and looked down.
To their shock, they saw a Red-crested Golden Eagle.
Grace was lying on its back.
The Red-crested Golden Eagle was a fierce spirit beast.
Judging by its size, it had to be at least a hundred years old—its cultivation rivaled a sixth or seventh-rank Spirit Practitioner.
But why was it carrying Grace away so gently, like a tame little sparrow?
Everyone watched as Grace flew farther and farther away, mouths hanging open in shock...
...
Honestly, Grace herself hadn't expected the Red-crested Golden Eagle to show up and carry her.
The moment she reached the edge, she spotted the eagle circling below.
