Seeking a Master

2/14/2026

"They're not that kind of people. If they were, they wouldn't have saved that kid just now—at least it shows they're decent." said Young Master Chase Chu. "Young master, but..." The attendant was frustrated, especially seeing Chase Chu was dead set on making Evan Yang his master, feeling helpless.

As for Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong, they had already decided the outcome against those two men, pushing them back. Evan was about to continue attacking when Young Master Chase Chu suddenly shouted, "Senior, senior!"

"?" Evan Yang was puzzled by the stubborn young master's intentions—was he going to send someone after him again?

"Senior, stop! It's a misunderstanding—a complete misunderstanding!" Chase Chu shouted.

"Not fighting anymore?" Evan Yang asked. Chase Chu replied, "No, we're not fighting. It was just a misunderstanding."

"So it's a misunderstanding, then we won't fight." Evan Yang hadn't expected this kid to change so quickly—just moments ago he wanted to teach him a lesson, and now his attitude had shifted completely.

"Right, no more fighting. May I ask how I should address you, senior?" Chase Chu inquired.

"Why do you want to know? Planning revenge?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"You misunderstand, senior. I want to become your disciple!" Chase Chu suddenly blurted out, leaving Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong both stunned.

Seeing Evan Yang stunned, Chase Chu asked, "Senior, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but I don't have the habit of taking disciples—so let's forget it," Evan Yang sighed.

"Senior, please make an exception and let me apprentice myself to you!" Chase Chu exclaimed when Evan Yang refused to accept him.

"I've decided—I'll accept you as my disciple! Well? Aren't you going to kowtow and apprentice yourself to your master?" Hannah Nangong declared.

Chase Chu froze for a moment, then awkwardly said, "Senior, I didn't mean to apprentice myself to you—I want to apprentice under this senior instead."

"Senior, that's not what I meant. If we're talking cultivation, my family has a bunch of Emperor Realm elders," Chase Chu replied with a smile.

Hannah Nangong flushed with embarrassment, nearly making a fool of herself. She turned to Evan Yang and urged, "Say something!"

"You brought this on yourself, not me. Let's go," Evan Yang said with a smile, motioning for Hannah Nangong to follow as they left.

"Heh, that's what happens when you try to be too helpful—see?" Evan Yang chuckled.

"If you won't take him, I could always accept a disciple myself," Hannah Nangong said with a smile.

"He doesn't actually mean any harm, so there's no need to teach him a lesson. As for taking him in, I'm just used to being alone—it has nothing to do with advantages or disadvantages," Evan Yang sighed.

Sure enough, Hannah Nangong turned around, and the group immediately stopped. Chase Chu smiled and said, "Senior, do you have any instructions?"

"I've decided—I'll accept you as my disciple! Well? Aren't you going to kowtow to your master?" Hannah Nangong announced.

Chase Chu froze for a moment, then awkwardly said, "Senior, I don't want to be your disciple—I want to become this senior's disciple."

Hearing this, Evan Yang secretly found it amusing, while Hannah Nangong was annoyed. "What? You look down on me? My cultivation is higher than his, you know!"

"Senior, that's not what I meant. If it's about cultivation, my family has a bunch of Emperor Realm elders," Chase Chu replied with a smile.

Hannah Nangong blushed, nearly embarrassed herself, so she turned to Evan Yang and said, "Say something!"

"You brought this on yourself, not me. Let's go," Evan Yang said with a smile, then motioned for Hannah Nangong to follow as they left.

Hearing this, Chase Chu looked a little disappointed, but he still responded with excitement, "Please ask, senior."

"Hey, either teach him a lesson so he stops following, or just take him in. It wouldn't hurt you," Hannah Nangong said, feeling helpless as she looked at the group trailing behind.

"He doesn't actually mean any harm, so there's no need to teach him a lesson. As for taking him in, I'm just used to being alone—it has nothing to do with benefits or drawbacks," Evan Yang sighed.

"Then I won't worry about it either. So, what should we do now?" Hannah Nangong asked.

"I originally planned to learn more about the Flowcloud Star System, but with all this commotion, I've lost the mood. It feels like we're being followed," Evan Yang sighed.

Hannah Nangong thought for a moment and then smiled. "Isn't this an opportunity?"

"What opportunity?" Evan Yang asked curiously. "Didn't you want to learn about Flowcloud Star? Of course you need to find a powerful clan—they're bound to know. And look at your follower: if his family has so many Emperor Realm elders, it's definitely an impressive clan," Hannah Nangong explained.

Evan Yang hadn't expected Hannah Nangong to think of this, but he really didn't want to take a disciple. Still, he wanted information, so he stopped and turned around.

Seeing Evan Yang turn around, Chase Chu thought he'd changed his mind and asked, "Senior, will you accept me now?"

"No, I just have a few questions for you," Evan Yang replied.

Hearing this, Chase Chu was a little disappointed, but still excitedly said, "Please ask, senior."

"Is there anywhere I can get more information about Flowcloud Star?" Evan Yang asked.

"Learn more? What exactly do you mean, senior?" Chase Chu asked curiously.

"Uh, like the map and distribution of Flowcloud Star?" Evan Yang clarified.

"If that's what you mean, senior—yes, I have one. If you need it, I'll go fetch it right away," Chase Chu said.

"Yes, that's right. And I've heard he wants to apprentice himself to you. I don't get it—I've been with the clan for years and he's never wanted to apprentice under me," the middle-aged man remarked, half joking, half wounded in his pride.

Evan Yang felt as if this expert was a jealous master, so he laughed, "I haven't agreed to let him apprentice under me, so don't get worked up."

"Alright, I'll wait for you at the inn up ahead," Evan Yang said. Then he watched Chase Chu leave happily, while his attendants and experts wondered why Chase Chu was acting so strangely today.

Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong turned and went to the inn ahead. After sitting down, Hannah Nangong asked, "Why is he so obedient?"

"Maybe he wants me to take him as a disciple," Evan Yang replied.

"So, are you going to accept him?" Hannah Nangong asked.

"No," Evan Yang answered.

"He wants to apprentice himself to someone!" the attendant replied.

"Apprentice himself? Has he lost his mind? Ever since he was young, we've found him countless masters, and he always sent them away. Now he wants to apprentice himself to someone?" The middle-aged man looked surprised and confused.

Hannah Nangong was defeated by Evan Yang's reasoning and could only eat quietly. Meanwhile, Chase Chu excitedly returned to his clan.

One of the attendants quickly went to a room in the family estate, where a middle-aged man was practicing calligraphy.

Each powerful stroke left its mark on the paper.

"Patriarch, something's wrong!" the attendant cried out in panic.

Seeing the attendant and hearing his words, the middle-aged man thought his son was in trouble again and asked in shock, "What happened? Who did it this time?"

"It's not that. It's just that the young master is acting strange today," the attendant said after calming down.

"Strange? What happened?" the middle-aged man asked curiously.

"He wants to become someone's disciple!" the attendant replied.

The middle-aged man smiled. "It's simple. He's never had such an urge to apprentice himself to anyone, and every time we've tried to arrange it, he's refused. Now there's finally someone he wants to apprentice under—let him be. Don't interfere."

"Patriarch, it's like this: the person he wants to follow has great potential. He actually defeated a Profound Immortal ninth stage with just Heavenly Immortal eighth stage strength," the attendant explained. "Heavenly Immortal eighth stage defeating Profound Immortal ninth stage? Are you joking?" the middle-aged man said, skeptical.

"It's true," the attendant insisted.

The middle-aged man saw the attendant wasn't lying, so he pondered for a moment, then asked in surprise, "Describe what he looks like."

So the attendant described Evan Yang's appearance to the middle-aged man. After hearing the description, the middle-aged man exclaimed, "So it's him!"

"Patriarch, who is he?" the attendant asked, puzzled.

"A newly risen talent. He once defeated a Profound Immortal ninth stage with Heavenly Immortal eighth stage strength. Judging from your description, it must be him," the middle-aged man replied.

"So what should we do now? The young master is going to stick to him," the attendant said, feeling frustrated.

The middle-aged man thought for a moment, then smiled, "Let him be. It's the first time he's felt this way—it might be a good thing."

"Patriarch, what do you mean?" The attendant didn't quite understand the middle-aged man's intent.

The middle-aged man smiled. "It's simple. He's never had such an urge to become a disciple, and every time we've tried to arrange it, he's refused. Now there's finally someone he wants to follow—let him be. Don't interfere."

"But the young master is on his way to fetch the Flowcloud Star description map," the attendant replied.

"Why does he need the description map?" the middle-aged man asked curiously.

"The man he wants to follow needs it, so the young master is eagerly fetching it," the attendant explained.

"Yes, that's right. And I've heard he wants to apprentice himself to you. I don't get it—I've been with the clan for years and he's never wanted to apprentice himself to me," the middle-aged man remarked, half joking, half wounded in his pride.

Evan Yang felt as if this expert was a jealous master, so he laughed, "I haven't agreed to let him apprentice under me, so don't get worked up."

Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong were chatting when the attendant, who had just left, returned—but instead of Chase Chu, he brought another middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man gave Evan Yang an unusual feeling—he seemed unfathomable.

"What's going on?" Hannah Nangong asked curiously.

"Not sure if he's looking for help or what," Evan Yang said with a smile.

Hannah Nangong also glanced at the two people walking in.

The attendant approached Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong and said to the middle-aged man, "These are the ones."

Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong sized up the middle-aged man, who smiled and said, "I heard my young master is very interested in you, so I came to take a look myself."

"Chase Chu, right?" Evan Yang asked.

"Yes, that's right. And I've heard he wants to become your disciple. I don't get it—I've been with the clan for years and he's never wanted to be my disciple," the middle-aged man remarked.

Evan Yang felt as if this expert was jealous, so he laughed, "I haven't agreed to it, so don't get worked up."

"How can I not be? I want to see just how strong you are!" the middle-aged man said with a smile. With that, he released his aura—Evan Yang immediately sensed it was powerful, but oddly, the pressure was directed only at him, leaving Hannah Nangong unaffected.

Not only that, the aura was gentle, not murderous. And judging by Evan Yang's estimate, the man's cultivation was strong enough to suppress him instantly, just like Xie Dong—but for some reason, he didn't seem to intend to do so.
