My Dear Son, I Can't Let Go

1/4/2026

The next morning, Cici called Charles Yin and told him that she was feeling overwhelmed and had decided to return to London ahead of schedule.

Charles Yin silently accepted Cici's decision.

She really needed time to think things over.

Once again, the battlefield was handed over to their sons.

He had already taken a crucial step; now, the final and most important move depended on how their sons performed!

Before Cici returned to London, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu had already received instructions from their father.

Whether they could win over Mommy depended on their performance today!

Cici got out of the car, took a deep breath, and stood at the door of the house Charles Yin had prepared for the children.

Suddenly, she felt like a fool.

Everyone saw things clearly, except her... she was the only one being played for a fool.

Those two little ones probably already knew everything, didn't they?

Suddenly, she hesitated, unsure of what kind of expression she should wear when facing the two kids.

Cici paused for a moment, then reached out and knocked on the door.

The door swung open the very next second.

Before Cici could say a word, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu were already standing obediently at the doorway, bowing and apologizing: "Mommy, we're sorry! We didn't mean to deceive you!"

Cici opened her mouth, but suddenly didn't know what to say.

Cici crouched down and looked at Ethan Yin and Miles Gu: "Since you’re both Charles Yin’s children, you must know that I'm not really your mother..."

"No, Mommy! You are our mom!" Ethan Yin suddenly looked up, staring seriously at Cici. "If you don’t believe it, we can do a DNA test. Actually, I have a DNA Test Report right here. If you still don’t believe it, we can do another test!"

Ethan Yin, who had been hiding something behind his back, suddenly pulled out a report and held it up high for Cici to see.

Cici froze, but did not reach out to take it.

Ethan Yin's big eyes instantly filled with tears.

"Mommy, do you really not want Ethan anymore? You carried me for ten months, you gave me my name, and now you say you don't want me. Is it because I'm not good enough? Is it because I'm not smart enough? Or should I not even exist in this world?" Ethan blinked his aggrieved big eyes, and tears instantly poured out.

Seeing Ethan Yin's tears, Cici's heart twisted with pain.

Miles Gu stood to the side, also crying uncontrollably: "Mommy, you gave me my name too. You said I was a child with a mom, not some kid without a mother out there."

Watching her two sons cry like this, Cici's heart felt like it was being torn apart!

Finally, Cici stepped forward and pulled both children into her arms.

"Mommy!" Ethan Yin and Miles Gu couldn't hold back any longer and hugged Cici tightly, crying out loud: "Mommy, please come back! We don’t want to be kids without a mom! We don’t want to envy other children who have a mommy!"

Miles Gu cried along, "I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to be with Mommy. I’ve already been abandoned once, Mommy, please don’t leave me again!"

All those questions she wanted to ask the kids—she couldn't say a single word now.

Seeing her children cry so miserably, Cici's heart felt like it was shattering to pieces.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Cici could only repeat, her voice trembling with helplessness.

She didn't know what words could possibly soothe her two kids, who were sobbing uncontrollably out of fear and anxiety.

She was even more lost about how to face the truth she couldn't bring herself to accept.

She really was their mother!

Charles Yin's ex-wife was actually her!

But what had she truly lost?

Why couldn't she remember any of her past?

Where did things go wrong?

Why did everything end up like this?

What really happened three years ago?

Cici gently closed her eyes, steeling herself with resolve.

It looked like she needed to return to Indonesia.

She had to go home and find out what had really happened to her three years ago.

"Come in, Mom," Charles Yin called out, reaching for Cici's hand. Miles Gu and Ethan Yin tugged her gently toward the sofa.

Cici looked at the two children with a complicated expression. Each of them lay obediently on one of her legs.

"You two..." Cici hesitated, then continued, "Do you blame me?"

Ethan Yin and Miles Gu shook their heads at the same time, then turned and hugged Cici's waist, burying their heads in her stomach.

"I still can't quite accept all this. I'm sorry, kids. It's just all too sudden," Cici said softly. "I need some time alone to calm down."

Ethan Yin's lips quivered, about to cry again, but Miles Gu grabbed his hand and said, "Ethan, let's give Mommy some peace! She's been driving for so long, she must be exhausted."

Only then did Ethan Yin let go of Cici. He and Miles Gu walked away from the sofa hand in hand, looking back at Cici every few steps.

The two children quietly returned to their bedroom. Wendy, who had been waiting for news, couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "So? Did Madam agree yet?"

Ethan Yin and Miles Gu shook their heads, looking dejected.

Mommy was angry.

Mommy was upset.

Wendy looked outside anxiously, lowering her voice: "Young Masters, you still have a chance! Didn't Madam promise to take you out shopping and sightseeing? You two know London so well, you should know which parts are the most chaotic..."

Wendy's words instantly reminded the two little buns.

Ethan Yin's eyes lit up, but just as he was about to say something, another thought popped into his head. His expression dimmed, and he shook his head: "The hero-saving-the-beauty trick only works once. Miles Gu already did it, so I can't do it again."

Miles Gu nodded, "Yeah, you can't use the same tactic twice. That's what our teacher said."

Wendy looked troubled, scratching her head, "But if you can't make Madam reluctant to leave you today, there won't be another chance! We're going back to China in a few days."

Miles Gu and Ethan Yin exchanged a look, both frowning as they tried to come up with a plan.

While the three of them were racking their brains in the bedroom, Cici, sitting on the sofa, couldn't help but call home.

It was Mrs. Yun who answered the phone.

As soon as the call connected, Cici couldn't help but act spoiled: "Mom..."

Hearing her daughter's voice, Mrs. Yun instantly responded with joy and happiness: "Hmm? Cici, aren't you working today?"

"Mom, I'm off today..." Cici held the phone, pondering for a moment before she slowly spoke: "Mom, when I'm not with you, do you miss me?"

Mrs. Yun chuckled softly on the other end: "Silly child, you're my daughter—of course I miss you wherever you go. What's wrong? Why are you so sentimental today? Did you watch another art film?"

Listening to Mrs. Yun's teasing, Cici couldn't help but smile, but then she asked, "Mom, if one day I disappeared, what would you do?"

As soon as she finished speaking, a loud crash suddenly came from the other end of the phone!

Startled, Cici immediately stood up straight: "Mom?!"

After a moment, Mrs. Yun’s gentle voice finally came through the phone: “Cici, are you in trouble? Don’t frighten me, sweetheart, I couldn’t bear that kind of blow! Whatever happens out there, don’t be scared—Mom is here for you. No matter what it costs, I’ll make it work! If you don’t want to stay in France, then come home. Europe is so big, and if you’re tired of it, go to America. Don’t worry—even if the Yun family falls, you’ll always have enough. I’ve saved up a fund for you, so even if your dad and I aren’t around, you’ll be taken care of for life.”

Listening to Mrs. Yun spinning out every possible scenario and listing backup plans, Cici felt a sudden rush of emotion and a sting in her nose.

It turns out that every parent in the world finds it impossible to truly let go of their child.

“Mom, it’s not nearly as dramatic as you think! I just… I just watched a TV show and got all choked up, that’s all! Please don’t let your imagination run wild!” Cici couldn’t help but tell a little white lie. Hearing Mrs. Yun’s relieved sigh on the other end, Cici’s heart ached even more.

“As long as you’re alright. Cici, you haven’t been home in so long—when are you coming back? I made so many treats for you, I’ll mail them soon.” Mrs. Yun started fussing again: “I keep telling you Western food isn’t good, but you never listen. This time, I put lots of Chinese herbs in the snacks to clear your lungs and cool you down. Spring is when people get overheated easily.”

Cici listened quietly as Mrs. Yun went on and on, and suddenly lost the courage to ask about what happened three years ago.

For some reason, Cici couldn’t shake the feeling that what happened three years ago was somehow tied to her family.

With parents who love her so deeply, could she really bear to hurt them?

Which mattered more—the truth from three years ago, or her parents’ unwavering love?

After listening to Mrs. Yun’s endless chatter for over half an hour, Cici finally hung up, reluctant to let go.

Cici sniffled, feeling even more lost than before.

She couldn't bear to part with her parents, but those two little ones were just as impossible to let go.

After a moment's hesitation, Cici decisively grabbed her bag and headed straight for a nearby private hospital.

When Cici held the doctor's report in her hands, she felt utterly overwhelmed.

After a thorough examination, the doctor confirmed that Cici had indeed given birth.

She wasn't unmarried and childless!

Could it be that Ethan Yin really was her son?

Son...

That word crashed into Cici's mind and wouldn't leave.

This was a private hospital, and since she came on a whim, it was unlikely anyone tampered with the results.

If the hospital's results were accurate...

Then who could tell her what really happened three years ago?

How did she and Charles Yin end up having Ethan Yin?
