Why Is the Quilt So Round

"If you want something done, sometimes you just gotta stir the pot yourself." Sean flashed a wicked grin. "If the truth is out there, you can bet it'll break through eventually—no matter how deep they bury it."

Tanya Quinn rolled her eyes. "Oh please, you're still a rookie. Around here, whoever's sitting on the throne gets to decide what's true! Winners write the stories, losers like you just get erased. Shout all you want—nobody's listening!"

Sean paused, then sent her a secret message, his silence thick with suspense.

Tanya's eyes widened, her gaze softening as she looked at him—something in the air had definitely shifted.

"When the Divine Lord speaks, the world listens," Sean said with a cheeky bow. "You took the Wind-Plume Feather, so that means you agreed! All right, I'm out—don't miss me too much!"

And poof—he vanished in a flash, like a magician showing off.

Tanya stared at the Wind-Plume Feather, rubbing her temples in agony. "Ugh, why didn't I just marry Liam Leshan ages ago? With him around, I could've gotten a fortune-telling every morning and dodged all this ridiculous drama..."

......

Lily Bai woke up, blinking at the ceiling. Something was definitely off—like, weirdly off.

Why did her blanket feel so round and squishy today?

And it was bouncy, too! Seriously, what kind of magical bedding was this?

She blinked groggily, then—hold up, was she actually hugging a thigh?!

And that thigh belonged to—yep, Sean, lounging right at her headboard like it was his throne.

She shot up like she'd touched a live wire. "You—are you real, or just some dream magic?"

"You summoned me in your sleep," Sean teased, his tone pure mischief.

"No way..." Lily slapped a hand over her mouth, eyes popping wide.

"What else could it be?" Sean shot back, eyebrow raised.

"Why did you disappear last night? I tried everything and you wouldn't show up! And now, poof—you're here, and you don't even listen to me anymore!?" Lily's words tumbled out in a flustered rush; she was starting to suspect this was the real Sean.

Sean grinned and brushed her forehead. "I'm not some spell—I've always been the real Sean! King Hades just wanted to mess with you, that's all."

Lily stared at him for ages, then let out a huge sigh and flopped back onto the bed. "See? Only a fake, summoned guy would say and do stuff like that. Totally proves it!"

Sean just stared at her, totally speechless—and maybe a little impressed.

Lily groaned, both embarrassed and weirdly impressed. "Everything I think just pops out through you. Whoever created this spell was a total troublemaker!"

Sean suddenly leaned in, trapping her under him. "So, what else have you been thinking about, hmm?"

Her eyes went huge. "And you keep throwing surprises at me..."

"Surprises, huh?" Sean arched an eyebrow, totally playing along.

Lily realized their pose was way too steamy, her cheeks blazing. "Y-you—get off me!"

"Get up? Isn't this exactly what you want?" Sean shot her a wicked grin, not budging an inch.

"Just go! Go back—now!" Lily shoved him, her face practically on fire.

But Sean just ignored her, leaning even closer like he was enjoying every second.

"Why won't you listen? I said go back—vanish! Now!" Lily was practically begging, her voice all exasperation.

Sean just stared at her—hair a mess, pajamas thin, cheeks red and flustered. Like he could possibly walk away now!

His breathing grew heavier; he was just a breath away from her lips.

"Sis!" came Little Shrimp's bright, childish voice from outside the door.

He started pounding on the door, like he was trying to bust it down.

"Disappear! Quick!" Lily yelped, panic shooting through her.

Sean stood up, shot a death glare at the door, and stomped off, scowling like a thundercloud.

Lily sat up and smacked herself. "Lily Bai! You're still an unmarried maiden—how did you get so shameless?!"

"Sis, you lazy bum! Get up! The sun's already up!" Little Shrimp called, still banging away.

Lily cast a quick spell to get dressed, swung open the door, and snapped, "What is it? It's barely morning!"
