Molly Yun had been busy at the Su Family for three days straight.
With her at the helm, the entire funeral finally went off without a hitch.
Molly Yun was absolutely exhausted.
The Su Family grew even more grateful to Molly Yun.
When Cecilia Gu called her, Molly Yun was sitting in the lounge next door, snacking on tea cakes. She'd been so busy she missed lunch and had to grab a few bites to fill her stomach.
Eric Jiang was up front, greeting the male guests with a few of his senior brothers.
Molly Yun was in the back, leading the Su Family women and hosting the female guests.
The couple were both running around for the Su Family, busy as bees.
Even though they were outsiders by blood, Eric Jiang was a proper disciple who'd paid his respects and served tea, so he was considered part of the Su Family. Naturally, it made sense for them to help out.
So, no one had any objections.
Besides, Molly Yun's quick thinking and social skills over these three days impressed countless people. Many secretly wondered if the Yun Family had another daughter—if they could marry her, they'd really hit the jackpot!
Her connections, her background, her abilities—absolutely flawless!
But that's a story for another time. Right now, Molly Yun was so tired her legs felt like they might give out. She munched on snacks while telling Cecilia Gu, "I have no idea how the Su Family keeps up their traditions. None of the women can handle things. I spent the last few days teaching them step by step, just barely keeping things together."
Cecilia Gu replied, "I figured it would be like this."
"Oh? What's the story?" Molly Yun couldn't help asking, "I've barely had time to chat these past three days. I've been spinning like a top the whole time."
"This comes from a branch aunt of the Yin Family who visited during New Year's and shared some gossip," Cecilia Gu said over the phone. "The Su Family has been passing down their culinary tradition for generations. The old master was a genius, but his descendants weren't up to snuff, and this generation is even more hopeless."
"Mm." Molly Yun took a sip of tea and asked, "Is Master Paul Su related to Steven Su?"
"Of course they're related! They're both Su Family members," Cecilia Gu replied. "Master Paul Su and Steven Su are cousins, but their lives turned out very differently. Master Paul's father split with Steven Su's father years ago and left their hometown to work abroad, separating the two branches."
"I heard Steven Su's father was the only son in his line. Where did this brother come from?" Molly Yun asked curiously.
"That's a long story," Cecilia Gu sighed. "The Su Family's history has had its ups and downs for centuries. During the warlord era, the family rose again. You know how chaotic those times were—no man had just one woman. So, Master Paul's father was actually an illegitimate son born to the Su Family patriarch by a woman outside the family, and wasn't listed in the family records. Outsiders only knew about Simon Su, but didn't realize he had a half-brother. That half-brother also inherited the Su Family tradition, but because of disagreements, the brothers split."
Master Paul's father went abroad and started his own business using Su Family Cuisine seasonings. Later, he gave up on the seasonings and switched to fast food, gradually expanding into other industries. Meanwhile, Simon Su's branch became the sole inheritor of Su Family Cuisine back home. But I heard things aren't great for Simon Su either—his only son Steven Su never had any kids, so he adopted a daughter named Serena Su.
Maybe it's just the Su Family's way—Master Paul's side isn't much better," Cecilia Gu continued. "He's the classic example of talent wasted on distractions, but he did it with style. Brilliant as a youth, a playboy in middle age, and in his old age, he turned to ink painting and actually made a name for himself internationally. He started his fast food chain out of spite, had a bunch of illegitimate kids in his wild years, but they all got cut off. When he got older, he handed the business to his descendants and focused on painting, becoming a world-renowned master of Chinese ink painting!
"That's right, Eric Jiang learned ink painting from him," Molly Yun nodded. "If you hadn't filled me in, I wouldn't know half these Su Family secrets."
"It's all just gossip," Cecilia Gu laughed. "You haven't paid attention to these things over the years, so it's normal not to know. Most of Master Paul's branch lived abroad and only visited occasionally. They didn't mix with Simon Su's branch, so lots of people are in the dark. But with the Su Family, you should help out if you must, but don't get too involved. Madam Su has weathered storms with Master Paul for years—their love and hate is hard to untangle."
Molly Yun took a deep breath. "No wonder she seemed so sad a few days ago, but now she looks much better and is laughing with Eric. Now I get it. She must feel relieved."
"Wouldn't you feel relieved? Chasing off mistresses all over the world must've been exhausting," Cecilia Gu said. "She's over eighty now—how many good days can she have left?"
"It really is complicated," Molly Yun said. "I've got it now."
"Even though most of the Su Family descendants are still abroad, you never know when they'll decide to come back," Cecilia Gu warned. "The Yin Family's roots are abroad too, but they came back, didn't they?"
"I understand," Molly Yun checked the time. "Alright, I can't talk much longer. After today, the big stuff will be over and Eric and I can finally step back!"

"Take care of yourself," Cecilia Gu said, ending the call after reminding Molly Yun to look after her health.
Molly Yun hadn't even gotten up when she heard the Yun Family women outside: "Mrs. Jiang, how should we arrange this distinguished guest?"
Molly Yun sighed, stood up, and called out, "I'm coming!"
She kept busy until evening, when someone from the Su Family finally took over her duties. Molly Yun could finally breathe easy.
Someone came up to Molly Yun and said, "Mrs. Jiang, you've worked hard today!"
Molly Yun smiled and replied, "It's what I should do."
"There's a guest up front who wants to see you. He said you'd come over once you saw this." The person handed her a packet of tea leaves.
Molly Yun took the packet, sniffed it, and her face changed instantly. "Who sent you? Where is he? Where is he now?"
The person immediately pointed toward the door. "Right over there."
Molly Yun shoved the tea leaves back into his hand and hurried toward the main entrance.
This tea was exactly the same as the one she'd gotten that day!
Could it be that damned High Priest actually tracked her down here?
What did he want?
Has he lost his mind?
She needed to ask him what exactly he was planning!
"Mrs. Jiang?" The person froze, not understanding.
"Go notify Eric Jiang," Molly Yun ordered. "Tell him to meet me at the entrance! We have to catch that bastard today!"
"Yes, yes!" The person turned and ran off to find Eric Jiang.
Molly Yun couldn't wait and jogged to the entrance, but found no one there.
Where was he?
Where did he go?
"Molly?" Adrian's voice called from outside the door. "What are you doing here?"
Molly Yun turned around and saw Adrian, struggling as someone helped him walk over. She was stunned. "You're here too?"
"I came to pay respects to an elder," Adrian said calmly. "You too?"
Molly Yun remembered Master Paul's influence abroad, so it wasn't strange Adrian would come to pay respects. She nodded. "Yes. By the way, Adrian, did you see anyone strange around here just now?"
"Someone strange?" Adrian thought for a moment, then casually replied, "Was it a man in a hat, wearing clothes that looked like feathers? He was pretty odd—what kind of fashion is that? Is retro style back in?"
Molly Yun's eyes lit up. "That's him! Did you see where he went?"
"I think he went that way," Adrian said uncertainly, pointing in a direction. "My car's at the entrance. Want me to help you look for him?"
Molly Yun hesitated for a moment.
As Mrs. Jiang, she was always surrounded by plenty of protection.
But Adrian's car could only fit three people; any more, and it would be cramped.
Seeing her hesitate, Adrian looked hurt. "What? You don't trust me anymore?"
Molly Yun immediately felt ashamed.
Right, how could she suspect Adrian?
After all, even when Adrian was drugged, he'd rather hurt himself than offend her.
How could she misunderstand him?
Molly Yun said immediately, "Alright then, please help me catch up to him."
Then Molly Yun turned to her bodyguards and assistants. "When Eric gets here, tell him to hurry and follow! Tell him the High Priest might be here!"
They all nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Jiang."
Without another word, Molly Yun got into Adrian's car, sat in the back with him, and the driver sped off.
"Is that person just ahead?" Molly Yun asked urgently.
Adrian didn't reply, just gave a strange smile.
Not getting an answer, Molly Yun couldn't help but turn to look at him. "Adrian? What's wrong?"
No.
What?
I said, that person isn't ahead.
'What??' Molly Yun was stunned. "What are you talking about? Didn't you say he was ahead?"
"No, he's right in front of you." Adrian said, his whole aura suddenly changing.
He was no longer the sickly man, but the mysterious High Priest.
