Taking Advantage of the Situation

2/27/2026

Evan Yang felt a sense of foreboding at those words. Sure enough, not far ahead, a group was being blocked by Cloud Family guards. Leading the group was a young man, followed by a crowd of personal attendants.

The young man demanded, "Bring your young lady out! The sooner the better! Or else you'll regret it."

"Young Master Song, our Miss Cloud just returned. We honestly don’t know exactly where she is, so please don’t make things difficult for us," said a Cloud Family guard.

"Ridiculous! When have I ever made things difficult for you? If your Miss Cloud has come back, why aren’t you searching for her?" The young man was visibly furious.

The Cloud Family guards had orders to pretend they didn’t know where Miss Cloud was. Now, all they could do was keep stalling, but as their act was about to unravel, the young man grew more agitated—when suddenly, a laugh rang out, "Isn’t that Senior Brother Song?"

Seeing Miss Cloud, the young man’s face lit up with delight. "Junior Sister Cloud, you finally agreed to see me."

"Senior Brother Song, what’s got you so anxious to find me?" Miss Cloud feigned puzzlement.

"Junior Sister Cloud, I heard from Patriarch Cloud that you’re getting married tomorrow. That can’t be true, right? Or are you just trying to irritate me?" the young man asked.

"Senior Brother Song, what kind of person do you take me for? Why would I deliberately upset you? As for the marriage, it's true. I'm marrying someone I like—see, it's him. Even my body already belongs to him, so my father is rushing the wedding to avoid disgracing the family," Miss Cloud said.

Hearing this, the young man exploded. "Junior Sister Cloud, what did you say? That punk defiled you? I’ll kill him!" He unleashed a surge of power toward Evan Yang, who spat blood and was sent flying on the spot.

"Damn it, why am I so unlucky?" Evan Yang cursed inwardly. He’d only just arrived and was already being used as a shield. Now, the other party was furious and attacked him without hesitation. If his strength had recovered, Evan would have fought back long ago.

But everyone has dignity—especially Evan Yang, who used to be strong and would never let himself be treated this way. He stood up and smiled, "How should I address you?" The Song young man scoffed, "What, you want to get friendly with me? With your pathetic strength?"

If Evan Yang had his full strength, he’d squash this guy in a heartbeat, but he knew his limits right now. He just smiled, "Get friendly with you? Why bother? I’ll soon be her husband anyway. I’ll just call you Senior Brother from now on."

As soon as Evan Yang said that, the whole scene froze. Everyone thought he had a death wish. Evan knew that if Miss Cloud wanted him to keep acting as her shield, she'd have to step in. Sure enough, the Song young man was enraged and struck out, but Miss Cloud met his palm with hers. Both were forced back.

"Junior Sister, what’s the meaning of this?" the Song young man demanded angrily.

"Senior Brother Song, he’s my fiancé now. Tomorrow he’ll be my husband. Are you planning to murder my husband right in front of me?" Miss Cloud knew she had to keep up the act or else things would go wrong.

Hearing Miss Cloud’s words, the Song young man grew even angrier. "Junior Sister, you—fine, see you tomorrow." With that, he turned and left with his men. After they were gone, Miss Cloud pulled Evan Yang aside and glared at him. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

"What? Did I say anything wrong?" Evan Yang said.

"Yes! You said plenty wrong. If you keep talking like that, I won’t be able to help you next time," Miss Cloud said.

Evan Yang looked at the woman before him and smiled, "What, you’d just watch someone murder your own husband?"

"Listen, this is all just an act. You should know that. If you take it seriously, you’re doomed," Miss Cloud snapped.

"If you keep this up, Miss Cloud, maybe I’ll just quit and tell everyone it was your idea to drag me into this play," Evan Yang retorted.

"You wouldn’t dare!" Miss Cloud exclaimed, startled.

"Honestly, I don’t really care about my life anymore. Worst case, I just die," Evan Yang replied with a wry smile.

Miss Cloud was so angry she muttered to herself, "I’ll settle this with you later." To calm Evan down for now, she said, "Don’t think you’ll always have someone to block for you. That guy today was only about as strong as me. If someone stronger comes along and I can’t stop them, you’ll just have to take another hit."

"Speaking of that palm, it really hurts. I might not survive the night, or even make it to the wedding tomorrow," Evan Yang said, suddenly looking despondent.

"Don’t give me that! It was just a little blood, you’re not dying," Miss Cloud snapped, glaring at him.

"You never know. He’s way stronger than me. One palm nearly cost me half my life," Evan Yang said, pretending to be in pain.

Seeing how Evan Yang was acting and remembering how he spat blood earlier, Miss Cloud said, "Sit still, let me check you over."

Evan Yang sat down on a lounge chair in the courtyard, feigning pain, while Miss Cloud began examining him. The closeness let Evan catch her fragrance clearly. 'She really is seductive,' he muttered inwardly.

As Miss Cloud continued her examination, Evan Yang suddenly put his arm around her when he noticed guards passing nearby. Miss Cloud shivered as if shocked, about to curse him and even cripple him, when Evan whispered, "Don’t move—there’s a group watching us. You don’t want to blow your cover, do you?"

Miss Cloud glanced over and saw that, indeed, several guards were watching and muttering. Face burning, she could only wait for them to leave.

"So it’s true—the young lady really is in love with a man. Look how close they are," one guard said.

Another guard agreed, "Yeah, tomorrow’s wedding is going to be lively for sure."

"I never thought our young lady could be so gentle and clingy—it’s rare," another guard said, surprising the others. Afraid Miss Cloud might overhear, they quickly slipped away.

Both Evan Yang and Miss Cloud clearly heard the guards’ comments. Evan could feel her heart racing as she pressed against him. As soon as the guards left, Miss Cloud shoved him away, nearly slapping him.

Evan Yang reacted quickly and dodged. "Come on, are you really going to murder your own husband?" "You dare say that?" Miss Cloud, who had never been touched like this before, was furious.

"I was just helping you act. Otherwise, would they have believed us?" Evan Yang said with a sly smile.

"You little punk." Miss Cloud didn’t know if she’d brought disaster upon herself or not, but luckily Evan’s cultivation was low, so she could deal with him any way she liked later.

"Miss Cloud, relax. We’re getting married tomorrow. Hugs like that will be nothing special soon. Who knows, maybe everyone will want us to do something even more embarrassing in front of the crowd. I can’t even say it out loud," Evan Yang sighed.

The more Evan Yang spoke, the redder Miss Cloud’s face got. "You—you! Tomorrow, unless I say so, don’t touch me. Or I’ll make you regret it afterward!" she warned.

"Is that so? Fine, I won’t touch you tomorrow," Evan Yang replied.

"That’s better. I’ve already had a room prepared for you—it’s right next to mine. If you need anything, come find me." With a cold huff, Miss Cloud led Evan Yang back to her quarters.

Once inside, Evan Yang looked around at the bed and furniture, then sat down and muttered, "I wonder how strong the Cloud Family really is in Cloud’s End."

After arriving at the Cloud Family, Evan Yang noticed that this place really could help his awareness grow stronger. He considered escaping, but with experts everywhere and his power still unrecovered, it was nearly impossible. More importantly, formations were set up all over the estate—if he tried to sneak out, he’d definitely trigger one and be discovered.

So for now, Evan Yang was forced to stay put.

Thinking about his current predicament and glancing at his injuries, Evan Yang muttered, "If I recover, and don’t teach you a lesson, I’m not Evan Yang."

Elsewhere, the Song young man suddenly felt a sense of danger, but it vanished as quickly as it came. "What was that?" he wondered.

"Long’er, what’s wrong?" a middle-aged man asked curiously, looking at the Song young man.

"Father, I just got back from the Cloud Family. It was so frustrating," said the Song young man.

"Oh? The Cloud Family? Weren’t you just there to propose? What happened—did they reject you?" the man asked suspiciously. Normally, a Song-Cloud match was expected, but seeing his son’s expression, things clearly hadn’t gone as planned.

"Propose? She’s already about to become someone else’s wife!" the Song young man said bitterly.

"What? Impossible! You mean the Cloud Family’s young lady is marrying someone else? Who? Who dares steal my son’s bride?" the middle-aged man shouted angrily.

"Some nobody—not even a Celestial! I wanted to kill him today!" said the Song young man.

"Ridiculous! The Cloud Family’s young lady picked such a weakling? Impossible. I’ll go ask Old Cloud myself," the middle-aged man insisted.

"Father, while you’re at it, see if you can get them to cancel the wedding. They’re getting married tomorrow," the Song young man replied.

The middle-aged man immediately replied, "So soon? Then I’ll go find Old Cloud right now. You stay home and don’t go looking for that girl for now."

"Alright, understood." The Song young man nodded. The Song patriarch didn’t want his son to lose to a weakling, so he left to find the Cloud Family patriarch.

Left alone, the Song young man muttered, "If the Song patriarch insists, I’ll just make my move first. Who cares if she’s not pure? I’ll get what I want regardless."

The Song patriarch soon found the Cloud Family patriarch, who was busy with wedding preparations.
