A Slap

"A bet? What bet?" Damien Darkmoon asked suspiciously.

"Emperor Damien, have you really forgotten so soon? We haven't been apart that long. Last time, didn't we agree that if Miss Yvonne agreed to my request of her own free will, you wouldn't go back on your word?" Terry Yang said.

Damien hadn't expected Terry Yang to bring this up now. Elder Lewis Lu and Yvonne Darkmoon looked surprised, and Yvonne suddenly remembered overhearing their conversation last time. She immediately spoke up, "No matter what he asks, I won't agree to it."

"Lord Yang, are you sure you didn't mishear?" Damien asked Terry Yang.

Terry Yang hadn't expected Yvonne to react so quickly, but he quickly composed himself and said, "Is that so? Let me ask her directly, then."

Ignoring the looks from the other two, Terry Yang smiled at Yvonne Darkmoon and asked, "Yvonne, are you willing to be my partner?"

Normally, Yvonne would have refused on the spot, but instead she said, "I'm willing."

Damien had no idea what was happening and cried out in shock, "What?"

Elder Lewis Lu had seen Terry Yang pull this kind of stunt before, so he said, "Damien, don't panic yet."

Damien looked suspiciously at Yvonne and Elder Lewis, while Yvonne immediately protested, "What did you do to me this time? There's no way I'd agree to that!"

Seeing Yvonne contradict herself, Damien was completely confused. Terry Yang laughed and said, "Miss Yvonne, you may not be some big shot, but you shouldn't speak carelessly. Remember your own words."

"I was wrong. I agree," Yvonne said again, wishing she could seal her own mouth shut.

Damien saw everything and quickly figured it out. He shouted angrily, "What did you do to my daughter?"

"What do you mean, 'did'? Emperor Damien, you'd better have proof when you talk. Otherwise, I might ask the other sects and families to judge. Then your daughter will really lose face." Terry Yang said with a smile.

Terry's words were blatant blackmail and intimidation, and he was certain the two before him wouldn't dare make a move against him. With no evidence, their anger was beyond words.

"You... despicable! If you let my daughter go, I'll risk my life, but I won't let you off!" Damien said.

"Looks like Emperor Damien doesn't keep his word. If that's how it is, I'll stop asking for your permission. Miss Yvonne, come take a walk with me." Terry Yang said with a smile.

With that, he turned and walked out the door. Yvonne followed behind him, ignoring Damien's shouts. Elder Lewis Lu frowned and said, "I don't know how she's following his orders, but she's clearly conscious. Try communicating with her by sound transmission."

Damien was shocked and hurried after them, sending a sound transmission: "What's wrong with you?"

"Dad, I don't know either. I can't control myself, but I'm definitely awake," Yvonne replied quickly after hearing the transmission, almost in tears.

Evilmoon, seeing that his daughter was unharmed, just couldn’t understand why she was listening to Yang Tian. Still, he absolutely didn’t want to let this go on—if Yang Tian made his daughter do something she shouldn’t, it would be a disaster. So Evilmoon stepped outside and called out loudly, "Stop right there."

Yang Tian had already come outside. With so many people around, he didn’t believe Evilmoon would dare attack him, so he turned and said, "I wonder what Emperor Evilmoon wants with me?"

His words weren’t loud, but they drew everyone’s attention. People were curious—how did this young man end up facing off with Lord Evilmoon?

More and more people gathered. Seeing the crowd, Evilmoon’s face grew grim, while Yang Tian was secretly pleased. Elder Lewis Lu frowned and addressed the crowd, "There’s nothing for everyone here. Please disperse."

"Elder Lu, you’re not being fair. Emperor Evilmoon called me out, and judging by his aura, he clearly intends to make a move against me. Isn’t it good to have witnesses here? Who knows, maybe someday my Yang Clan will send people, and there’ll be plenty of witnesses." Yang Tian said with a smile.

Both Evilmoon and Elder Lu’s faces turned ugly, and Yvonne was even more distressed. She desperately wanted to explain herself, but couldn’t open her mouth, always forced to do things she didn’t want to do.

"Let go of my daughter!" Evilmoon shouted.

The crowd, hearing Evilmoon say this, started to think Yang Tian must have done something to Yvonne. But Yvonne looked perfectly fine, and even spoke up: "Dad, I’m fine. I’m just going out to have some fun with him, it’s nothing. Don’t make a big deal out of it."

Evilmoon knew these weren’t Yvonne’s own words, but at this moment everyone was watching him, knowing he wanted to stop Yang Tian from being with his daughter.

But Yvonne kept choosing to go with Yang Tian, leaving Evilmoon frustrated and angry. That’s what everyone guessed was happening.

Faced with this, Evilmoon snapped, "Yang Tian, you’re using such despicable means to make my daughter do things she doesn’t want to do."

"Emperor Evilmoon, I admit my strength isn’t on your level, but you can’t just slander me like this. Everyone can see—if Yvonne wasn’t willing, how could I even dare? Isn’t that right, everyone?" Yang Tian replied.

Some people nodded, and then someone even said to Evilmoon, "Lord Evilmoon, just calm down. Men and women falling in love is perfectly normal. Are you planning to lock your daughter up for life? Besides, the Yang Clan is one of the Four Heaven-Battling Clans—your daughter following him is hardly a mistake."

"The Four Heaven-Battling Clans?" Some who didn’t know Yang Tian’s identity were shocked when they heard this.

Yang Tian enjoyed the feeling of being looked up to, so he smiled, "Emperor Evilmoon, you see—it’s not something I can change. If you can make your daughter stop following me, I’ll have no objections."

"You—" Evilmoon was furious, nearly about to attack, but Elder Lu stopped him. Evilmoon didn’t understand and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Do you really want things to get even messier?" Elder Lu knew Evilmoon absolutely couldn’t make a move right now, or the consequences would be unimaginable.

Evilmoon, hearing this, calmed down a little, but was still furious inside. He wanted nothing more than to scatter Yang Tian.

Elder Lu sent a sound transmission to the enraged Evilmoon: "Maybe someone will rescue her."

Evilmoon stared at Elder Lu in shock, while Yvonne also received Elder Lu’s sound transmission: "Go with him—maybe someone will save you."

Yvonne blinked, suddenly thinking of that invisible person, which made her secretly happy. But she still didn’t feel like herself—she kept saying things she didn’t really mean.

Even though Evilmoon heard Elder Lu’s words, he still couldn’t relax. He said, "If anything happens to my daughter at the hands of the Yang Clan, even if it costs me my life, I’ll drag you down with me."

Yang Tian frowned, then smiled and said, "I didn’t expect Evilmoon to be so petty. Looks like you treat your daughter like a possession, wanting to keep her locked up for life."

"Dad, that’s right. I like Young Lord Yang," Yvonne said again at this moment.

Evilmoon snorted coldly, "Yang Clan brat, using such vile means, sooner or later you’ll get what’s coming to you."

"Vile means? Emperor Evilmoon, let everyone judge—what vile means did I use? If talking about feelings and love counts as means, then I really don’t know what to say," Yang Tian replied, feeling aggrieved.

The people around laughed at Yang Tian’s words and sided with him, feeling he was being treated unfairly.

"Lord Evilmoon, are you saying anyone who tries to pursue your daughter is a criminal?" someone said, thinking Yang Tian wasn’t at fault.

Seeing people start to speak up for him, Yang Tian was secretly pleased, but Yvonne and Evilmoon were both deeply troubled.

"Yang Clan brat, stop pretending, alright?" Evilmoon was nearly at his breaking point.

Yang Tian sighed, "Pretending? What am I pretending about? If your daughter wants to follow me, is that somehow my fault?"

Evilmoon said, "You’re despicable."

"Emperor Evilmoon, please mind your words. After all, I’m from the Yang Clan—you can’t just insult me however you want. With so many witnesses here, if you keep slandering me, I might really have to call my clan’s people," Yang Tian said.

Yang Tian’s words made Evilmoon hesitate. The Yang Clan was a powerful force—even he had to be careful.

Elder Lu stepped forward, "Alright, enough. Yang Tian, since you’re taking Yvonne away, you must ensure her safety. If anything happens, you’ll be held responsible."

Yang Tian nodded, "Don’t worry, Elder Lu. I’ll make sure Yvonne is safe."

Evilmoon glared at Yang Tian, but couldn’t say anything more.

Yang Tian took Yvonne’s hand and walked away, leaving the crowd behind.

The crowd gradually dispersed, but some people kept discussing Yang Tian and Yvonne’s relationship.

Yang Tian led Yvonne to a secluded place and asked in a low voice, "Are you alright?"

Yvonne shook her head, "I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I keep saying things I don’t want to say."

Yang Tian frowned, "Someone must have used a soul technique on you."

Yvonne was shocked, "A soul technique? Who would do that to me?"

Yang Tian shook his head, "I’m not sure yet, but I’ll help you break it."

Yvonne nodded, trusting Yang Tian completely.

Yang Tian took Yvonne’s hand, and began to channel spiritual energy into her, helping her resist the soul technique.

Yvonne felt a warm current flow through her body, and gradually regained control of herself.

"Thank you, Young Lord Yang," she said softly.

Yang Tian smiled, "You’re welcome. Let’s go—there’s a lot to see outside."

Yvonne followed Yang Tian, her heart filled with gratitude and anticipation for the journey ahead.
