Sean Kerr's eyes flickered as he smiled and said, "Don't talk nonsense. My reputation doesn't matter, but don't tarnish Rona Muir's name."
Zoey Chow pouted, "Mr. Kerr, stop pretending with me! You two dated for so many years, and then some little punk swooped in and stole her away. Are you really okay with that?"
Okay with it?
Of course not.
But Sean Kerr also knew how much of a jerk he’d been back then.
If he hadn’t hurt Rona Muir over and over, they wouldn’t have ended up like this.
He couldn’t even begin to describe his regret now.
But so what?
Rona Muir was already married to Jiro Hirayama, and they even had a child.
There was no going back.
Working with Rona Muir on this experiment, he could feel it clearly—she only saw him as a friend now, nothing more.
Sean Kerr said, "Zoey, don’t go spreading rumors. We really do have business together here, but it’s not what you think. If you let this get out, you know how she is—she won’t let you off easy."
Zoey Chow pouted again, just about to say something when Lucas Lin quietly tugged her arm and shook his head.
Only then did Zoey Chow stay quiet.
Sean Kerr elegantly wiped his mouth and left the buffet restaurant.
After Sean Kerr left, Lucas Lin said to Zoey Chow, "We shouldn’t get involved in their business. If rumors really start flying, you’ll only get blamed for meddling."
Zoey Chow grinned and pinched Lucas Lin’s cheek. "You little rascal, I didn’t know you had such good instincts."
Lucas Lin let Zoey tease him, just smiling as he said, "I’m just looking out for you. You’re part of their circle, after all. Better to keep things smooth than burn bridges."
"True enough," Zoey nodded. "Forget it, I don’t feel like meddling in other people’s drama. I just want to relax."
Lucas Lin jumped at the chance. "Then when we get back to the room, I’ll give you a massage. I just learned a new technique—promise it’s as good as any spa."
