Miles Gu and Ethan Yin sat on the beach, watching Rona Muir and Jiro Hirayama happily collecting things by the shore.
"Ethan, will I not be able to stay with you all in the future?" Miles Gu asked calmly.
He was only four years old, yet he was as sensible as a ten-year-old.
Ethan Yin's eyes instantly turned red as he looked at Miles.
Ethan didn't need to answer; Miles already knew the truth.
"Has Mom been crying for a long time?" Miles asked again.
Ethan lowered his head, his chubby fingers unconsciously poking at the soft sand, and softly replied, "Mm."
Miles's red eyes dimmed, and his delicate little face was full of sadness.
"Mom cried again..." Miles sighed softly. "I'm so useless, I always make her cry."
Ethan reached out and grabbed Miles's arm. "Brother, none of us want to let you go. But Dad and Mom said this is what's best for you."
Miles's long eyelashes trembled. After a moment, he replied, "Yeah, I know."
Miles secretly made a vow in his heart—he would grow up quickly and never make his mom cry again.
"I'll wait for you all in England," Miles finally decided. "Or maybe I'll work hard to get back to China. Ethan, we can still go to high school together!"
Ethan nodded vigorously. "I'll be waiting for you here!"
Rona Muir, who was picking up shells by the sea, held the last shell in her palm and looked up at the endless ocean before sitting down on a giant rock.
The sea breeze blew through Rona Muir's long hair, revealing her smooth, healthy shoulders.
The day before yesterday, she received a call from Sean Kerr.
On the phone, Sean Kerr said that the engagement between the Kerr Family and the Gong Family was called off. He realized his mistake and wanted to ask for her forgiveness.
Forgiveness?
How could you talk about forgiveness when there had never been betrayal?
